  1. Today you control the NFL rules committee with dictatorial powers to demand changes. (1) Give me an existing rule you would either (a) take away completely, (b) just tweak a bit, or (2) add your own rule, and why? So many categories to choose from…DPI, kickoffs, fumbling into the end zone touchbacks, uniforms or celebrations to name but a few. There is a great video primer on the existing rule book narrated by none other than Rich Eisen, located here: https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/ I’ll start. Through the years the NFL has managed to muddle the answer to what should be a simple question—what is a catch? While some of the most egregious portions of the convoluted Rule 8, Section 1, Articles 3-4 have been amended since the infamous Dez Bryant no catch of 2014, it hasn’t been reworked since 2018’s removal of “surviving the ground” language, but because of other notes contained in the rule, the same call problems remain: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-catch-rules-2023-explained/gsuetg81khhjariyrqhgulzy#:~:text="How do we make this, secure and control the ball. After all, what could be more crystal clear than the 3rd catch component of “a football move?” <sigh>. A fun compilation of controversial calls for your recollecting pleasure in this regard: https://youtu.be/ZgbKNgXrFXs?feature=shared My rules committee by fiat will adopt Larry Fitzgerald’s definition of a catch as outlined by Bill Barnwell all the way back in 2017: “If a receiver catches the ball and gets two feet, a knee, an elbow or a cheek on the ground, it's a catch. If he stays upright and the ball is stripped out of his hands or he bobbles it, the ball becomes a live fumble. Doesn't that feel refreshingly simple and comprehensible? We still need to come up with a clear definition of "catch," but let's try to keep that to the shortest possible definition. Maybe it becomes a catch at the moment when the receiver grabs the ball in his hands without bobbling it. Perhaps you put a time frame on it, like the receiver cradles the ball for a half-second or a full second.” https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21798623/three-options-fix-nfl-catch-rule-2017 Anyway enough of my ranting, what rule or rules do you need to see changed, removed or added?
  2. Yet another reminder how important it is to appreciate the time we have with JA at the helm—all too soon he will be retired and we will be poopooing his successor. 🤓 For context, anyone remember Todd Collins?
  3. Thanks—we owe those clowns nothing but continued domination of the East to match the precise # of our drought years imho. Sorry Drake, not sorry—you’re about to get Mac Jonesed by the best QB in the NFL.
  4. I have it on good authority around here that Shakir is primed for a breakout year so here’s hoping!!
  5. Being reminded of Andre makes me jump down the rabbit hole of his YouTube highlights…<sigh> that speedy YAC stuff never gets old!! https://youtu.be/VNrl-WgnbRM?feature=shared https://youtu.be/GsNCMiRxyP4?feature=shared
  6. Is it terrible that all I can think of when I read the name “Tyquan Thorton,” is the main character “Guybrush Threepwood” from “Escape from Monkey Island” video game fame? 🥴 @dollars 2 donuts, tell me I’m not the only one here who’s ever played that??
  7. Oh how we’ve missed you OP, you big galoot!! It’s just not the same discussing the latest Jets seasonal implosion without you around! 😁. Why, it’s so bad even these Dolfans guys get to push the poo pile further down to you in the AFC East…
  8. To be fair, Tyreek Hill said Tua was the best he’s ever played with (so better than Mahomes), and we all know Josh is better than Tua, ergo, I’m convinced, confident and confirmed in my opinion that Josh is the best in the league. 🙌
  9. I say best because of the ability to spread the ball around to a committee of multiple good if not great options under Brady’s fully realized schematics, as opposed to say, force feeding Diggs to the detriment of the best option per play—also fully expect the Bills run game under Brady and with Cook to continue to improve and take pressure off, opening up more deep shots. I just have a great feeling about this year, national pundits be darned!
  10. I choose to look at that era as a never duplicated uninterrupted back to back to back to back run of AFC supremacy—one that not even the Chefs or Patsies have been able to do…our ability to get back up off the mat and push that boulder back up the next season’s mountain has always been inspiring. Look at it that glass half full sort of way and it’s not quite as painful imho. 🤷🏼‍♂️
  11. I knew I was allergic to all this dust around here. <sniff>. Thanks for sharing OP.
  12. Not to Josh they’re not! 😉
  13. 💯. This will be a can’t-miss, 45 min to an hour road trip from the ‘burbs, already can’t wait!!!
  14. 12-5. We’re good despite the losses of the old vets. Looks like a tough schedule but I also feel like the Bills usually play up to their competition, so I expect mostly great efforts! 🫡
  15. This will be problematic given the 24 hours of “A Christmas Story” that’s supposed to be playing in the background on a loop at the house…plus the fact that oh by the way, it’s Christmas?????????? 🙈. Just hope the Bills don’t ever play at this time that’s supposed to be spent with family far and wide, many of whom don’t watch football to begin with. 🤷🏼‍♂️. /rant.
  16. Poll or it’s not a legit question… 🤔😁
  17. I hear ya Hondo…but still let’s categorize the Jets as most likely to finish the season living in an ayahusca totin’ van down by the river!
  18. As a proud bench warming alumnus of a D3 Western Pa small school’s football program, I take great umbrage at the thought of having had Hackett as OC…and that’s coming from a program where our base O package was the triple option! 🙌
  19. Apologies if already posted upthread, but has the $$ been announced yet?
  20. To your point about assisting with coaching rules nuances to the players, don’t forget we are about to usher in yet another new era on D with having to comport with the new hip drop tackling prohibition…you almost have to have a dedicated rules official on staff just to keep up with all the yearly changes. Love this move by the Bills.
  21. I guess this means Pegula is still willing to spend $$$ on the Bills after all! 🤓
