What’s Your Most Memorable Bills Game?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Still surprising to me how long Flutie hung out in the CFL before coming down here and then showing a short QB could absolutely still have success at the NFL level as well—that was also still before Drew Brees’ time, and there was some kind of inherent school of thought IIRC that short guys would have too much trouble seeing over the Oline? -
As we get ready to turn the page into training camp and gear up for the new season with all of our combined hopes and expectations of finally breaking through, what sticks in your mind as the most memorable game from seasons past? Taking a stroll down memory lane could be for all the wrong reasons, or one of the franchise’s highlights, such as the Comeback game, which is up there for me—I’ll never forget where I was when that 2nd half against the Oilers unfolded (unlike most of you, I was NOT in actual attendance :)). Maybe it’s the 13 seconds game, or the perfect game against the Patriots the week prior? Or do you go all the way back to the AFL Championships? What say you?

Brandon Aiyuk officially requests a trade
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s on now, let the thread page count commence…💯. Total side note, who actually believes the trade request was “respectful?” 😁 -
I have to point this out in the annals of cheap shots, Ken Norton Jr. delivered one early in SB XXVII to Kelly’s knees that I’ll never forget and never forgive. I thought he’d literally shredded both of Kelly’s knees in the same hip check type manner, gunning for a knockout low lunge, and it did take Kelly out for good. Davis could’ve blocked better sure, but Norton was out for blood. Kelly’s knees went one way, and the rest of him went another. At the time IIRC, the game was still close at 14-10 or something. The hit… And the resulting predictable cost…

-Tom Brady -P.Mahomes -T. Kelce -Bryan Cox (I wouldn’t have even hired his progeny if it were up to me ) -The real Wrong Josh Rosen This is definitely top 5 all time for me. But there are so many to choose from!!! T. Hill, J. Mixon, Ken Norton Jr., Novacek, Michael Irvin…ok I need to stop before I change my list…

Is there anyone who’s donned a Hall of Fame gold jacket that in your opinion is less deserving than another candidate who’s still not been voted in? For example, how did Andre Johnson deserve it more than say, Reggie Wayne, who won a SB and has better overall stats? (14,185 yds, 70 TDs vs 14,345 yds, 82 TDs). If you had the power to remove one sitting HOF player, who? Likewise who would you have already enshrined?

Cameron Sutton Gets Slap on Wrist by Goodell
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
“In addition, the updated policy states that the third-party disciplinary officer who first reviews any potential player conduct violation has the ability and discretion to impose harsher penalties on players for “other types of prohibited conduct.” That includes an indefinite suspension. The decision to revise the policy did not require any negotiation with the player’s union as the labor deal and the league constitution gives the commissioner the power to define and penalize conduct detrimental to the league.” https://firstandpen.com/nfl-changes-its-personal-conduct-policy-and-increases-penalties/ -
Classy guy. Hope the crim justice system gets it right, unlike the NFL…per report below, this suspension for domestic assault is less than half of what is usually doled out for gambling! Just sick. https://www.mediaite.com/sports/should-be-ashamed-of-themselves-nfl-under-fire-for-giving-player-light-suspension-after-allegedly-assaulting-the-mother-of-his-children/

Welp!!! Say it ain’t so 🙈…

Wasn’t even in my recollection that Christie wound up somewhere else after his successful career in Buffalo—something we all like to forget with some of our other greats as well, like Thurman/Bruce, etc.

How close is Allen to Mahomes if all things were equal?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree Allen still has work to do between the ears, but his ceiling remains higher than that of any other QB, Mahomes included. Also, we’ve seen Mahomes fall flat in the playoffs as well (Burrow’s AFCCG 2nd half comes to mind for example), so this is not a straight line sort of comparison. Point being, no matter where they may be currently ranked, Allen has more upwards mobility left. -

NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is key to this OP convo imho—Allen is blessed with a virtually limitless ceiling of football talent, which if unleashed the right way makes him in the words of Thanos…inevitable. He can simply do more than anyone else, Mahomes included. Tell me something Mahomes can physically do that Allen can’t—whereas Allen can do some things Mahomes cannot (or at least we haven’t seen). -
Robot commentators. It's finally happening..

Only if it’s to discuss how to deconstruct a Turducken! 😋 -

Then why ever give Lamar an MVP? For his playoff success? For his arm? Nope. It’s his hybrid ability that Allen also shines at—and leads in hurdle “spectacularity” as well! 😜 -
I’ll go out on a limb and say Claypool will turn heads with his career resurgence this year—buried in Miami I think he can do some real damage for us provided he stays focused and driven, which by early accounts is what he’s doing so far. https://billswire.usatoday.com/2024/05/23/chase-claypool-baggage-buffalo-bills-nfl/

While staying away from mostly big name/splashy FA acquisitions this off-season, Beane nonetheless has stacked our cupboard with solid depth and starter quality pieces at positions of need across our roster, besides what he did in the draft. The question is, which of these will emerge as a vital cog to our 2024 Super Bowl aspirations? Give us your prediction with reasons why. Also, as a corollary to this question, feel free to opine on which FA you feel will be a dud, to be soon relegated to the dustbin of our franchise history as a wasted roster signing? I've attached a summary compilation of our 2024 acquisitions for your reference here: https://wyrk.com/every-new-buffalo-bills-2024/ Every New Buffalo Bills Player Acquired This Offseason (So Far).url

Agree with most of your rankings but I would quibble about having LJ in tier 1; to me he’s borderline 1, but leader of the 2nd tier; also, I’d have Prescott in tier 2 not 3–and at this point in their careers, I’d take Dak over Rodgers if I was forced to pick. But all in all I agree with your sentiments.

The funny thing is, seems like each year the SB champ is picked to automatically repeat, but statistically that is not a significant probability given most years’ outcomes…too much parity now and by the time you get to a potential 3-peat like the Chefs would be this year, so far it’s been guaranteed not to happen. So thankfully I don’t think the Chiefs are a safe bet at all this year! https://www.cbsnews.com/news/most-super-bowl-wins-teams-players/#:~:text=No team has ever won, feat on two separate occasions.
