  1. This is true. Paradoxically In strength of schedule deciders you actually want your division foes to have good records because it makes your sos better. As long as you finish ahead of them it’s irrelevant what they do. I would be ok with the jets to get in the wildcard ahead of the chargers or Browns.
  2. I read that too. I think he’s been a good player since drafting. Plus he’s friends with Morse.
  3. Im sure the Saints would agree with that. But even in a bad division what happens if they lose the next 2 weeks? They aren’t coming back from. 2-7 . Unfortunately for them they are 54 mill over the cap next year. As had been said it’s pie in the sky to assume any team will give up a good guard mid season. Being in this bind gives a trading team the best chance. predictively though I doubt the Bills are looking to change their OL mid season.
  4. Risner would be a UDFA at the end of the season. If you want one at the deadline it’s Eric McCoy of NO. Reason being he spent a lot of time at both guard and center in the NFL and could replace Morse. Cap number is $3.2 mill this year. Saints are in deep doo doo against cap and now they aren’t even close to contending they may finally take their medicine.
  5. Me too. However his actual immediate success is still shocking. He was a traits guy and it does make sense that Bills wanted a safer player.
  6. Yeah the trouble is to overturn the on-field call it needs to be a clear error on replay. It was close. But in the alternate universe where McD challenges and loses the challenge, you can be sure that the same people who are upset about the lack of challenge are also making threads about the ‘wasted’ timeout from the challenge and how it probably cost us the game. Either way McD can’t win.
  7. I like Miami’s chances of making the playoffs regardless of the outcome tomorrow. With the slow start by AFC north and south teams and Raiders and Broncos not living up to pre season hype I think the Dolphins can end their playoff drought.
  8. Not sure how likely it is but the Patriots are underdogs against the Dolphins. I wouldn’t hate to see that hype bubble popped. Either way a division rival loses.
  9. Why trade for him if he won’t make the Buffalo 53? They lost their drafted nickel to a season ending injury. Not saying it will happen but it might. Honestly I hope I’m wrong. I like him as depth.
  10. One of the things I love about the way McD runs camp is that players have a sense of urgency. They do their best and understand that this is a shop window for themselves. Of course their first priority is to make the Bills roster but just making a 53 is life changing wherever that is. Contrast that with this (last few pages) of this thread regarding the depth and intensity of LAC players: https://www.thepowderblues.com/forum/forum/los-angeles-chargers-forum-nfl-forum-padres-forum/the-los-angeles-chargers-forum/1369205-cowboys-chargers-preseason-game-day-thread-ps-2/page45
  11. I have faith in McB to make the right decisions for what THEY want. It’s great that so many fringe players have shown flashes though. As much as it would be sad to see promising players leave, I would also be happy for them to further their chances of making it somewhere in the NFL. Was Blackshear mentioned anywhere going into the draft? Did anyone expect Hodgins to have a great preseason? I’ve always felt that Cam Lewis has done a great job filling in at nickel but if he can get a starting gig at NYG you have to be happy for the financial security that would bring him. Joe Marino listed the players lost by Bills after cutdown and it’s really not as bad as people make out. Most of these guys will be kept.
  12. Surely that depends on how you quantify value? In the context of the Seahawks-no franchise QB very few top of the market contracts it makes good sense. Is he indispensable to them in the same way that Diggs is to the Bills? Does he takeover games like top 5 WRs are supposed to? Is he the 6th best in the league? Not for me. I know that’s not how the market works and at least they didn’t reset the market like Christian Kirk. Certainly they’re smart to hold onto him but I think he has quite a bit to prove as a player and not sure that he will bring value for money in terms of actual production this year. I think it’s why he and Lockett aren’t getting much love in early fantasy drafts.
  13. I think Saints are overrated. Losing Brees and now Payton and Armstead. Aging team. Bucs are the safe bet but I don’t want to be boring and give the consensus answer. So Panthers. Good young defense, Baker to be a capable manager and not throw away games like train-crash Darnold. Burns, Horn, Chinn, DJ Moore.
  14. Milano missed the KC win last season. He was back in the playoffs and had a terrible game. Yet Tremaine solely gets the blame. He wears the green dot and has organized a perennially strong secondary from a young age. But because of fans’ perception of his ‘impact’ they want to push him off the roster. The good news is McB don’t care what others think of their choices. They will live or die by what THEY want, which is as it should be. McB have made it clear that they love him. How I shall enjoy the sweet tears of Edmunds detractors when he gets his extension.
  15. In Saleh, we are talking about a 2nd year defensive coach who finished with the 32nd ranked defense and a Qb with everything to prove, and a Shanahan-disciple offensive OC, who mostly failed to install a successful offense. In McDaniel the Phins have a rookie HC and a Qb with everything to prove, hoping to have success installing that same Shanahan style offense. Would it be shocking if they defensively regressed without Flores? These two teams have to find success against Buffalo and NE who have excellent defensive schemes and coaching. Offensively, the Pats haven’t announced an OC but have Patricia, Judge and Bellichick all ‘contributing’. They will miss their former OC and have no game breaking weapons. All of these teams will hope to shorten the game by running the ball, and playing possession ball. They don’t have stellar RBs (Taylor,Henry) and they won’t frighten Buffalos pass defense with downfield threat like Kc. If Buffalo succeeds in getting ahead, none of these teams are well equipped to keep up.
  16. That’s a big if. But, yes, there will always be a group of folks who will seek to blame lay when they don’t receive their desired outcome. You can apply that to the totality of human existence. We all do it, but such responses tend to be emotional and reactive.
  17. When he first came he needed to end the drought. Then he needed to find a franchise QB. Then he needed a playoff win. Then he needed to beat the Patriots. Then he needed a division title. Then he needed to show the Chiefs could be beaten. All of these things have been achieved and he has averaged just under 10 wins per season across 5 years. Why would people think he can’t take the next step?
  18. The thing is he’s an incredible receiver. He’s had a 1000 yard season with a terrible QB. If you looked at him as a receiver only at 8 per year and compare him to Kirk who never had 1000 at 21 per year then consider his rb flex too, that’s a steal. That said I hope that Cook proves to be what everyone here is convinced he is, and then it’s one less area to worry about.
  19. Every player is an injury risk. CMC missed 2 seasons after 4 seasons of continuous health. His workload is insane-on the level of Derrick Henry, while also running routes and occasionally returns. Used properly by a creative OC I think it would be different.
