Quality Wins - A Troubling Observation
ngbills replied to Do The Reich Thing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously? The Pats and SF are destroying teams every week. They are in a different class than the Bills. Due to arrive next year? Every year its next year. While other teams are making super bowl plans we are talking about how the plan has always been next year or the year after. Jan 11 2017 Bills hire McD Jan 12 2017 Rams hire McVay Feb 6 2017 49ers hire Shanahan But yeah the Bills need more time. -
That makes no sense. If they lose to teams so they have winning records, the Bills still did not beat a team with winning records. Losing to the current NYJ or MIA will not get either close to a winning record anyway. Point is 1) If your looking at records over a certain number of games you cannot ignore who you played over those games. For example if Bills played Pats, KC, Pats over three games and went 0-3 does that mean they are awful; But then they play NYJ, MIA, MIA and go 3-0 so now they are amazing. No, its called context. 2) Bills have yet to prove they can beat good teams. Not their fault how the schedule plays out. But many are eager to see them match up vs some good teams. The Dallas game may be the first but this Phi game and the Cle game are at least more legit tests. Exactly and fair IMO. Unless they were out there destroying teams each week. There can be a very thin line between losing and winning in the NFL. The Bills have been on the right side of that this year so far.

Or this stat. The Bills have only beaten 2 teams with a winning record over the past 22 games or 4 over the past 39 games.

Barnwell Blind Stats - Allen and Goff

Lets not go overboard. Better maybe but it was really only the first drive to start the half. Next drive was a 3 and out. Next drive was an int on his first pass. Next drive he got hurt. -

Goff with a decent OL is a different QB. The Rams OL has been dreadful this year. That is what you get with the guy. Protect him and he can be one of the best in the league, if you cant you see what you get. -
You had me until the "if you factor in preseason"...

STOP with the Pats have not beaten anyone either talk. They are beating teams by 30 that we are barely getting by. Comparing one game to another may not mean much when it comes to comparing win margin etc. But when you look at 6 or 7 games and see a pattern it is fair to say the team destroying people vs the one eaking wins is probably better.

R Talbot (via ESPN) - bills on the hunt for a WR

Not that simple. Unless they already know they plan to dump more players and not sign any free agents in the offseason. -

Have not seen any serious sources sating Evans or Allen are legitimate options at this point. If we got Evans we would have had 3 or the top 5 WR's taken in 2014...and 1 of the 2nd rounders. -

Of names being mentioned around the league: AJ Green DeVante Parker Melvin Gordon OJ Howard Shaq Barrett -
Allen IS hitting the proper benchmarks

Better at some things. Still struggling with others. We should not confuse team success with player success. This defense is what has led to the 5-1 record more than the QB play. If the D played the way it started last year and Allen played how he has we are not 5-1 and probably a 1-2 win team. -
Average NFL QB's have to hit wide open WR's. The great ones can even place the ball in there when a guy is covered. But when you have a few yards of separation you have to make that pass.
-
Agreed on the play design. I hate plays that our designed to be one read. You watch this develop and its either McK or throw the ball away. Your other guys are just clearing out space. Allen takes too much time to throw so the coverage has time to get over to cover McK. Rather than have your WR on the left side run the slant, if he runs a shallow drag route you may now give Allen a secondary option.

Yes and crazy to be complaining about a Bills team not running enough. There needs to be a balance and feel for the game. Way too often Gore has an 8 yard run and then is not running again for 7 plays. Mix it up a little. Take the pressure off your young QB. Give him some easier throws to hit. Mix in the more complicated stuff.
-
That play is not the best example. Watch it on the all 22 and you see that Allen is both late throwing the ball and has awful footwork. He has gotten into a really bad habit this year not setting to make his throws. Its the danger of having a strong arm, always think you can just sling it. I do agree another playmaker on offense would make a big impact. I think a playmaker WR or possibly better a RB that is a threat out of the backfield. We have seen Yeldon catch some passes, imagine if that was legit RB back there doing that.
-
If they have been all game one might think it will be similar right? Its like he is thinking if I run a pass now they will be caught off guard. Oh shucks they weren't. Maybe if do it again they will. No dice. Maybe one more try. Oh crap, next time I am just going to run it.

Yes and no. That Dallas team that was putting up huge points in most games and won 9 games by double digits. And four by more than 20 pints. Not us yet. And even so, that team went on to lose its first playoff game. Those NE teams were similar. Yes some close games but also some blowouts. This Bills team has not proven it can blow anyone out yet. We all want to see the Bills play a game like we saw NE play last night. We are closer to losing to a bad team right now than we are to blowing them out.

But he traded a 3rd for KB...
-
Bit of a stretch. They had a good drive to start the half. Next drive was 3 and out. After that was an Allen Int. Next drive he got hurt and it was going to be another 3 and out potentially.

Bills would be 5-1 with Darnold as QB. Lets stop with using the Bills record vs Jets record as the measuring stick.
