Another way to look at it: Each of the teams we played gave up the least amount of points vs. the Bills. That means 6 teams scored more points against the same teams we played. In all three games we scored less than any of three teams they had played. Our offense has much room for improvement. On defense its not quite the opposite but close. Both CIN and NYG have scoring lows vs the Bills D. While NYJ have their high vs. The Bills D. However, Bills have not held a team under 14 this season.

The reason we haven't played a complete game yet.
ngbills replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
End around and reverses on the first 20 plays -
Pats have outscored teams 106 to 17. Bills 66-47 and all three games were undecided going into the last few minutes. I would call the completion a wash. NYJ/NYG/CIN vs PIT/MIA/NYJ...not much difference there. NYJ=NYJ, NYG>MIA, PIT>CIN.

Then rankings would really be pointless. That would just be the NFL standings. These guys are paid to have some opinions and we dont have to agree with them all. If we play NE tough I would bet money we barely move in the rankings and could actually gain spots in ones that have us lower. Teams records is called the standings. Rankings attempt to be something different.

Rational Thoughts 24 Hours-ish Later (Bengals)
ngbills replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team is 3-0 and has yet to play a complete game. Our opponents record is 1-8 Bottom line is that it is not very clear how good this team is. This weeks game will give a much better gauge. Regardless, you need to win games you are supposed to win and sneak in a few you are not. Path to 11-5? Easy: Win 2 vs MIA (5) Win at home v NYJ, DEN, WAS (8) Doable: Win on road v TEN, CLE, PIT (11) Can lose: Lose 2 v NE (2) Lose at home to PHI, BAL (4) Lose on road to DAL (5) -
Brady is right on that penalty calls were ridiculous. May be just coincidence but ridiculous how Brady whines and NFL reacts. Who runs the league?

My one peeve from the Giants game
ngbills replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This plus the entire 2nd half. We had a lead and played to just hold it. Watch other teams that are used to winning in the NFL and they are not letting up like this. We let the Giants back in the game. It shows a lack of faith in Allen. I would have like to see him sling it and keep the pedal down in the 2nd half. -
Who cares and why should anyone feel differently? We are one of the 2-0 teams. Our 2-0 with close victories vs the Jets and Giants are the least impressive. We have yet to play a complete game. All winning these two shows me is that we are likely a 8-8 or better team. If we had lost either we would be looking like a sub.500 team.

Fans always see their team differently. They know the ins and outs of every player. They listen to the reports of how great Duke Williams looks in practice. They listen to the coach talk about changing culture and winning. Fans sometimes overlook that every other team is doing the exact same thing. The national media does tune that out for the most part. That can lead to them missing the boat sometimes. But also they dont tend to over hype the stories local fans latch onto.

Rankings look right. Roughly speaking top 16 teams make the playoffs. We are right there competing for two wild card spots with the likes of LAC, TEN/HOU, PIT/BAL/CLE. We beat on ok Jets team. One that lost its best defensive player which was clearly a deciding factor.

DiMarco (Dabolls Swiss army knife)
ngbills replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come on now. He had 3 receptions last year. Saying he was 2nd in receiving yards for a fullback is some spin work.Yes its true but really meaningless. Reality is the fullback is becoming extinct in today's NFL. Teams are much more creative and able to get better weapons on the field than a FB. -

Best game of his career is 3 catches for 35 yards...I dont think its a matter of him not being utilized correctly. I am all for the occasional pass out of the backfield on a short yardage play or even a wheel route. But lining him up outside is just not my preference. I think coaches can try to be cute and out think themselves. -

I get using him for limiting blitzes by getting the LB pout of the box. But he should not the designed to throw the ball to on that play. If they are keeping a LB off the field with Gore/Singletary we run the ball on that front. There are many ways to create mismatches in the NFL. How many teams are using a Dimarco outside the hashes? -

I would prefer having Gore/Singletary in some of those sets. Or use a TE as the Dimarco. You are going for the LB mismatch and I dont see Dimarco v LB as a mismatch. Singletary v LB is a diff story. -

You dont need a Dimarco to do that. Plenty of other ways. -

I prefer the question - is he the guy that should be lining up all over the field? I would rather have someone else be the Dimarco...buy honestly dont worry too much about it. -
First Half wasn't as awful as everyone is saying
ngbills replied to mjt328's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately turnovers and penalties are part of the game. So cant say if you exclude those it was a good half etc. And you want to say exclude that...then it should go both ways were you include the dropped int's or mistakes by the jets defense. That said, I would agree it was a decent performance and not as bad as it sounds (0 points, turnovers, etc.). Maybe I havent read or listened enough yet but I dont see a lot of Allen sucks like this thread is saying. There are always going to be the random people that say whatever. Most seem to agree there was some good and bad. Overall, Bills got bailed out by the defense. If the D does not show up in this game it could have been out of reach and that changes the whole game. Down only 16-0 in that kind of game kept the door open for the Bills to steal one. -
Defense A+. Bills are out of this one early if D does not step up.

OAK planning to suspend AB (edit: apologized, playing)
ngbills replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are taking the winning cures anything approach. They win and he keeps playing. If they start losing dont be surprised if he is back in the dog house. -

ngbills replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. Half of the players in the NFL would not be employed if there was what some people call the "process". Its entertaining to hear stuff like "I still doubt McD would have wanted AB". As if McD has some either prophetic powers or is on some other moral level. The Bills have employed and kicked the tires on tons players with baggage or other issues. Just look at Jerry Hughes, Zay Jones, Shady, Incognito, Dodson, Duke Williams and more. End of the day teams want players that can help them win and hope to limit the nonsense. The better you are the more teams will put up with. -
1. The Pats will get this pick plus others back via their own trades and comp picks always do. 2. Funny how when teams trade for or sign our guys the response - see how much talent this team has and how great Beane is in bringing them in. Now guy gets cut and its see how smart Beane is for getting rid of the this guy. Cant have it both ways...guy was not good enough on our team or another team. If anything we kept him around way longer, after just a few weeks they saw he sucked.
