If they went up for sale today I would bet they still get the $5.5B or more. Its about future revenue not revenue today or even just next year. Which is my point. "IF" the teams say are cutting salaries by $120M next year then that is a money grab. Yes something needs to happen like a sharing of the losses over a number of years.

I know this can get to be a complicated situation. But owners do not give money to players at the same rate of increases in value so why do so on the downside? Values of teams have gone from $100M to billions. Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys for $140M and they are now worth $5.5B. Think about that. Can other businesses that have shut down now pay our employees half as much? Lets drop minimum wage in half to account for lost business. I dont have the answers but seems like a money grab by billionaire owners. If you want to treat the players this way trade some salary for ownership of the team.

Convince me that the 2020 Pats are good...
ngbills replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No - They were 8th in points, 10th in yards and 7th in 1st downs. Even more they were 20th in turnovers. These numbers were all down from the year before - 4th in both points and yards, 5th in 1st downs and 9th in turnovers. -

They were then 10-6 the next year. 1 game worse with Brady than Cassel. But it does not work that way. Can only look at the facts and not speculate what they would have done if.... They played without Brady and still went 11-5. In 2016 they went 3-1 without Brady. Until proven otherwise they have still won without Brady. -

Suggs ran a 4.8 - that is not bad. But for a top 5 pick on a edge guy you want a 4.6-4.7.

I was going to say in my OP that maybe he can be a Calais Campbell type. Wanted to include other names so was looking for other edge/DE guys with slow times and did not find too many... Not that simple. Lots of guys with good tape dont have the speed or other qualities to excel in the NFL game.

It is going to be a while before we see the new players hit the field. My biggest concern with AJ is his quickness and athleticism. Given that I would not be surprised to see him bumped inside more often than on the edge. End of the day it is about what he does on the field but for comparison purposes his times fit the DT mold more than DE. 40 time Epenesa: 5.04 Oliver: 4.73 Star: 5.41 H Phillips: 5.21 Taylor: 5.07 Murphy: 4.86 Addison: 4.70 Hughes: 4.65 Jefferson: 4.95 3 Cone Epenesa: 7.34 Oliver: 7.15 Star: 7.66 H Phillips: 7.28 Taylor: 7.58 Murphy: 6.78 Addison: 6.96 Hughes: 6.99 Jefferson: 7.95 (must have slipped) 20 yd shuttle Epenesa: 4.46 Oliver: 4.22 Star: 4.65 H Phillips: 4.50 Taylor: 4.59 Murphy: 4.20 Addison: 4.28 Jefferson: 4.95 Hughes: 4.15 Jefferson: 4.37

Drafting Fromm and Bass shows foresight
ngbills replied to racketmaster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A) Fromm was never considered a top prospect. Has always been what he is - a game manager type and likely back up at best. B) Barkley is not paid that much. So no it was not some genius move to find a cheaper back up. -
Do we have the Deepest D-Line in the league?
ngbills replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly my point - he needs to ascend. He may ascend to elite status but not yet though many are referring to him as if he is. -

ngbills replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was going to say in my post - I know he was in a run heavy offense (though he received 149 targets one year) and had a Thielen. But he will have Brown in BUF. And I dont think you can say if this he would have done that. Does not work that way. You could do that exercise for many players in the league. Fact check - he has only caught for 100 rec in one season not seasons Fact check again - he had a 17.9 ypc once. It has been 10-13 in all other years. Again, I think he is really good. Hopefully even better with the Bills. Just not on elite status yet until he proves it. He is what the Bills needed a very good #1 WR. But we did not just get the most elite WR in the game. -

ngbills replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well we all have different definitions of elite. In my view elite is the top 3-5 guys at a position. Top 20 is good. If your saying he is top 3-5 in the league why has he had only 2 1000 yard seasons? Never caught 10+ TD's? On his career thus far he averages about 5 rec for 65 yds and under .5 TD per game. Very good but not elite...yet. -
Who is your favorite all times Bills player and why?
ngbills replied to BuffBills51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cant go wrong with Kelly, Bruce or Thurman. Kelly for his perseverance and toughness. Bruce was just a beast and dominated people. Thurman so fun to watch. Other favorites over the years. Marshawn because I grew up in Oakland and was coaching at Cal when he was there. Such a good guy and misunderstood by Bills fans. Flutie - Just for that one year. Takeo Spikes, but it was more about being excited when we signed him. Sure I am missing some others but these come top of mind. -

This 1 million percent. I know I should just ignore the so much of it but its hard not to get into it. Barkley and Fromm are way better than Cam or Winston would be as backups. Diggs is better than DeAndre Hopkins or drafting any of the WR's in this years draft. We trade a draft pick and the player we got is way better than any pick. We dont trade for a guy and its we value draft picks or its a strong draft class. Our 7th round guy pick is a steal and will be starting in a few years. Meanwhile every player another team gets is not a good fit, sucks and we did not want them. On and on. And I would bet my house that Allen as a Jet would be destroyed on these boards. -
Carruci: Bills not pursuing Cam Newton
ngbills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He led the team to a 15-1 record. They were the top scoring team in the league. He was the league MVP. Scored 31 and 49 points in the playoffs en route to the Super Bowl. As Bills fans, if you were around for the 4 losses I think you would understand how things can go south in the big game. Heck Josh Allen in the biggest game of his career thus far was bad. Some horrible decisions and one of the biggest reasons we lost. So dont know how you can call Cam a loser and that he is not worthy of even being our backup to Allen. Allen is 0-1 and was bad in the spot light and I would include those Pats games as well as big games in which he was really bad. -

From year one his numbers have been better. And basically every year. I would speculate that Winston as our QB we win more games last year. I am not saying I would want him over Allen but you lose credibility if you say he is awful and no teams want him. He is better than Allen at this point in their careers. Allen hopefully has a higher ceiling if he can get there. Fans are biased by their player - hence obviously Allen is amazing and Winston or Newton suck. Barkley is a great backup on the Bills, as any other teams back up he is a joke. As for the playoffs, TB defense was awful since Winston got there. If the Bills had TB Defense no way they make the playoffs last year. We had arguably 1-3 best D in the league and lost in the 1st round as the 5th seed. Carruci: Bills not pursuing Cam Newton
ngbills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My point is we would be talking about how great he was with the 5000 yards and 33TD's and that he just needs to get the int's in check. We would be talking about him despite his int's like he is the best QB in the league. Allen's numbers pale in comparison to Winston. Derek Anderson says hi. So does AJ McCarron. Cam Newton is only a year older than Barkley. -

And 5000 yards and 33 TD's. If Josh Allen put up his numbers last year this board would be going nuts saying he will be MVP this next year. -

I would think it makes sense to Cam and Buffalo. Look at Tannehill - he took $2M to go to TENN and turned that into a $120M deal. Cam should look at the Bills and think Josh needs to have a good year. If he struggles the Bills turn to Cam and he gets his big deal next year. If Allen does not, he can get some good press as being a mentor and sign a decent deal to start somewhere the following year. -

Duke Williams Combine Auburn receiver Duke Williams responds to a question during a news conference at the NFL football scouting combine Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, in Indianapolis. (AP Photo/Darron Cummings) D'haquille Williams' draft status is in limbo. The receiver many considered to be a first- or second-round prospect a year ago is suddenly persona non grata for many. It's possible the former Auburn receiver could fall out of the draft because of his off-the-field antics that led to his dismissal in October. Williams faced the media and NFL personnel Thursday at the NFL Combine. He was reflective, he openly shared his regrets, apologized about his past and promised he is working to become a better man. "I'm a first-round pick no matter what, but off the field I'm a seventh-round pick," Williams said. "My character is a seventh-round pick."
