  1. Thank you for the route tree explanation. That is what I spent a big chunk of time teaching high school players. This is the NFL. Guys dont run paper routes. Go watch the good WR / QB tandems out there and you will see what I am talking about. If a DB is playing you man to man your route will need to be adjusted based on coverage - man vs zone, how tight is playing you, if he is trailing you or what side he is on, where the first down marker is, the goal line, etc. In this case the guy was trailing Brown so he did not need a sharp 45 degree but should take the route deeper. Think about that - a sharper turn gets the defender in better position to make a play. You create separation you want to keep it. Go watch the Bills practice and I guarantee you will see what I am talking about. It is what they call good chemistry between QB and WR. They are on the same page knowing when a guy will take the sharp 45 angle or take it up field slightly vs cut in sharper - all dependent on where the defender is.
  2. There is a big difference between hey I know my route is an out but I will run a post and taking a corner route deeper or sharper. Allen puts more touch on the pass and angles it further from the sideline and brown can slightly adjust his route. Brown in this case needed to slow down because the ball was late and angle towards the sideline sharply.
  3. Brown should have gotten those toes down no question. My best guess is he just mistimed his jump...though he is going full speed and has to slow down to make the catch which also throws off the timing. But he needs to make that play. This was not a perfect pass as too many people are saying. Watch the entire play- link below. Brown timing is likely off because he immediately sees a TD and wants the ball. You can see him raise his hand as he passes the numbers and if thrown then we have an easy TD. Allen needs to throw that ball sooner and not directly to the sideline. A TD pass, not an out of bounds play. No excuse for Brown not making that catch, but should not have needed that level of difficulty. I would bet that you have Allen and Brown watching this tape rate now they both say that.
  4. Bingo. This is my point. Both players had a part in this and will work to improve upon it. Brown needs to make that catch but Josh throw was not perfect. We need to get in the end zone and better throws and this team scores a ton more TD's. Most routes beyond a few yards have some flexibility in todays game. Its not the pee wee leagues of follow this cones and stop right there. WR and QB adjust balls ALL THE TIME. Come on now.
  5. Anything worse than 11-5 will be a disappointment.
  6. We can agree to disagree. When a WR raises his he is usually saying get me the ball I am wide fricken open. Not wait a few more seconds and put it on the sidelines to stop the clock. I played in college and a bit post college, then coached for a number of years. I have watched enough film to know a thing or two. Like I said not an awful pass just one Josh and Brown would want back and get that ball out sooner so Brown gets in the end zone with it.
  7. Watch the entire play not just the catch. Allen throws this ball sooner it is an easy catch for a td. Not trying to say Brown should not still make that play. But Allen would tell you himself he threw the ball a bit late and two far outside. Brown beat his man immediately and it was an easy TD. Watch closely and brown even throws his arm up - ball should have been thrown then as he passed the numbers not all the way to the sideline where he needs to even slow down and keep is feet in.
  8. Yes - fail on him. Also not a perfect pass sorry. The throw is late and too far to the corner. Watch the entire play not just the catch on the sidelines. He throws it sooner and it is a TD.
  9. Again - miss the point. Throw was not perfect. Throw was perfect we have easy catch for td. Brown catch was bad. So we have a less than perfect throw with bad work from wr.
  10. Bingo. They pay for 7 of his 10.
  11. Not saying Brown should not have made the catch. Saying a better throw and it turns a more difficult catch on the sidelines to an easier catch in the end zone. He is behind the defender and the safety is nowhere close. As BarleyNY says - these catches can be made. But better QB play eliminates the need to make those plays. Why can we not have higher expectations? This is the NFL. This is our top 10, franchise QB. Not expecting perfection but there i no question he can improve and he would be the first to admit. So many fans want to deny and make excuses. I guarantee you both those throws Josh would say he wants them back.
  12. Actually on that first one a better pass and that is a TD not a toe tapper on the sidelines.
  13. Can we stop with the dont complain about bad calls because Bills blew so many chances. Yes, we all know Bills had a 16-0 lead and it could have been more. They made a ton of mistakes and blew the game. That should not excuse horrible officiating. There is no justification for incompetence by the NFL. Refs should be fined or fired for bad calls. The NFL should have a review process in place to limit bad calls. The hit on Allen would be a very quick review to see the penalty and make the right call. Cleaning up definitions like on the "touch back" to start the second half or the Ford "blind side" block would go a long way. It is frustrating for fans which the NFL needs to survive to watch such incompetence impact the team they support. And yes through out the games call can go both ways. But when you have calls that impact the outcome at critical moments that is different. Its insanity. If you only have the reversed td on the touch back I get that. Then you add Ford's penalty and that changes things. Then add the no helmet to helmet. Then add then play clock. Then look big picture at no in game penalties on houston...you have to question not only incompetence but corruption.
  14. Helmet to helmet, unsportsmanlike conduct on big hits and similar are so frustrating since there is no consistency in what is called and what is not. I have seen plays not even at the level of the hit on Allen called like an arm barely hitting a helmet or helmet to chest, yet they dont call that? QB gets destroyed as helmets collide and no Allen did not initiate or lower his head. I dont think Allen even saw it coming. Allen's helmet is almost knocked off.
  15. Amari Cooper in FA Best Edge Rusher or OL at 22 Get best WR on the board in the 2nd round
  16. It is a combination of Daboll and Allen. But if Allen improves it would help out Daboll a ton. During the game I get frustrated with Daboll. I watch the film afterward and get frustrated with Allen. Its not just the bad throws but the many left on the field or the inaccurate passes that turn a TD into a 5-10 yd gain. Daboll - Gets too cute. Some of the plays seem overly complex and take too long to develop. Many plays lack options - bunch everyone and have only one real option. Lacks balance - 100 passes in a row after running with success etc. Allen - Still makes dumb decisions. Accuracy issues lead to lack of TD's and many missed plays. Takes bad sacks. Know when to run, throw away and get down. Speed up decision making process. Did I say accuracy... I still have faith this tandem can work. Next year is huge for both. If the Bills are still a bottom feeder offensively then both could be running out of time.
  17. Funny how much we bash Roman around here. His offenses here with Tyrod were in the top half of the league. We have yet to even approach that level. Just saying...
  18. Duke Williams is 26 years old There is lots of professional film on Duke Duke has been on multiple NFL rosters Teams know his strengths and weaknesses Teams pay a premium for potential. For the unknown. Many players come in and out of the NFL. Look at just our Buffalo Bills stats over the years. You will see names and many will not even remember guys that actually put up ok numbers for a year or two. Lets stop pretending Duke is better than this guy or that guy. If he was many teams could have him. The Bills could have played him all year. Reality is still that he is a fringe NFL player until he proves otherwise. He will need a good off-season and will be fighting for a roster spot next year.
  19. 22 K'Lavon Chaisson, EDGE LSU 54 Justin Jefferson, WR LSU 86 Najee Harris, RB Alabama 118 Jordan Elliott, IDL Missouri 137 Jake Hanson, IOL Oregon 149 Joe Bachie Jr., LB Michigan State 168 Jacob Breeland, TE Oregon 181 Eric Stokes, CB Georgia 191 Saahdiq Charles, OT LSU
  20. Supposedly last year WR draft was over rated and this year is the one. That is why the Bills didnt draft one last year... AJ Brown over 1000yds McLaurin and Metcalf over 900yds Samuel over 800 Another handful over 500 yds In the 2018 draft none even hit 900 and only 1 above 800. In 2017 only one hit 900, 2 hit 800. In 2016 only one above 700. In 2015 only 1 above 800. Hopefully we didnt miss a good chance that we still need to fill...
  21. Exactly. Allen needs to use his TE as a safety outlet more and also hit him over the middle when the safety help is covering Amari Cooper next year...
  22. Upgrade at least 1 OL spot Not sure I call Knox a lock yet. If we can get Hooper it is a big upgrade. Need a #1 WR
  23. The way way too early Super Bowl odds for the 2021. The past several years the Bills have been in the 100-1 and 150-1 range which was typically one of the 5 worst odds to win the Super Bowl prior to the season. Obviously a whole off-season to go. But got to think we will have a big change here. I predict 30-1 to start the year. Good off-season and maybe we are 20-1. For comparison - this year NE/KC were 7-1, LAC 8-1 (wow?), LAR 10-1, CHI/NOR/SEA 15-1, GB/IND 18-1, PHI/MIN/PIT 20-1, DAL 25-1, BAL/CLE/ATL 30-1. What are your predictions?
  24. This NE team was like the DEN Manning team. Won with Def and some smart QB play. NE could actually be better without Brady as weird as it sounds. Andrew Luck back in football for the Pats next year...
  25. Disagree - Hits him with shoulders and back. Actually more shoulder and head contact than Ford. That is the frustrating part of it. Most or many of the times refs use common sense. Dont call that penalty and let the Bills try a long FG and win or lose the games themselves. Not make a random call that is rarely called and in game deciding point.
