  1. Church is as much for the sinners as it is for the saints as long as a person is willing to be repentant. It's not for you or I to judge if a person is sorry for their sins. Only each person themselves knows if they feel regret internally for any wrong done.
  2. I want wins. Good teams seem to find useful if not impactful players outside of the top 10 in the draft.
  3. Obama would have never made it through the Democratic party nomination process if he did not toot the "oppression" horn at every opportunity.
  4. By the way I don't see Pigpen in that frame. I guess the lawsuit by the Hygenitically Challenged Persons of America is forth coming? There is a plate of glop in front of Marcy and then one to the front and left of Marcy so somebody is coming to the table to be on the same side as Franklin. Lucy perhaps? Maybe they had to bring chairs out from the house so perhaps Shroeder and the Little Red Haired Girl are joining them? I prize elbow room at the Thanksgiving table so now that will soon be squashed for Franklin by the others. How was Thanksgiving on the Soros Cubicle Farm? Tepid bottle water and a day old stale bagel?
  5. I just looked at the animated "cell" of the Peanuts special used for the article. Franklin has perhaps the best chair given the bottom is cloth versus solid wood. I as no doubt many other people feel it is best to sit across from a bunch of people versus sitting right next to. I have access to more people and do not have to talk through neighboring people that have their own conversation going. People could complain about anything. "He's too dark in color reinforcing a stereotype. He is too light so they are trying to (whitewash) hide his origin." It will never stop with some people. Do they have a view point? Yes. Does it fully describe what is happening? In a lot of instances, no. Show me a white person or black person complaining about the lack of jobs and most of the time I will show you a person that is far too inflexible in their approach to find a job. I complain about my lot in life but also admit my motives are in part driven by a need to stay close to family and being well adapted to the climate of WNY. It's nice to have it all in life but in the need for a paycheck many of us need to properly set priorities.
  6. Absolutely. In particular if there is an advantage in terms of strength to weight ratio or stamina to name a couple of issues. Coaches have long stated that many games are won in the fourth quarter by whoever has more gas left in the tank
  7. Such generalities do not speak to the America of the 21st Century. About a dozen years ago I applied for a union job in the automotive industry. The local was almost entirely black in its leadership. I did not get the job and did not worry as to the reasons why. Was it because I was white? Was it because somebody scored better on the test? Was it because somebody had experience relative to the job or more experience than what I had? The bottom line was nobody owed me an explanation so I moved on to the next option. The point in part is people of color have advanced in America and have enclaves where they hold the power in business and at the same time white people have far less exclusive hold in controlling jobs. You want to march into the den of the lion and see what happens then that is up to you but the results should be of no surprise if you are white and go into the den of a black lion or black going into the den of a white lion. If a black man goes into a backwater town of all whites then it would not be surprising that his job quest is very uphill. If a white guy goes into a very heavy black section of a major city then it would not be surprising that his job quest is very uphill. But the main point of my statement is that the America of 2018 is not described by the backwater town nor the black section of the city. America is a very mobile society where a person of a given set of qualifications can be readily matched with a job. Further, the white man is just as apt to be faced with the reality that his job will move him far away from his family as it would be for the black man. You are trying to imply that America is as it was 3-4 generations ago to make some sort of point about the plight of the black man which is no longer relevant today. What is done is done in terms of discrimination from 1975, 1965, 1955, and on back. To worry about what happened 4 generations or 80-100 years ago makes as much sense as to worry about who mated with your ancestor from a 1000 years ago to figure why you don't look like a typical Italian, Irishman, etc.. So to answer your question it really is not harder in 2018 America for a black man given the mobility that exists.
  8. Lots of "white guys" could tell a similar story. What these chuckleheads fail to see is if you are a white guy surrounded by whites then your "whiteness" is of virtually no importance. That you are actually common as dirt to the community I describe. If you are common as dirt you will probably be treated as dirt.
  9. Your thinking of Bud Adams whose team before being in Tennessee was the Houston Oilers.
  10. Good post and probably many here were unaware or have already forgotten a lot of that.
  11. Maybe he had a "come to Jesus" moment with the Jags owner who probably frowned on the sour take Doug normally put out. Trying to rip open the London market can only be helped by an affable HC who may be the most recognizable face of the franchise to many outsiders. Not like the Jags have a consistent superstar given the troubles of the QB and the injuries of Fournette.
  12. That you live near the landfill? Ole Hill looks like she caught something in her eye while out flying her broom around Chappaqua.
  13. The 21st Century has eight plus decades to go. Instant gratification get the best of this guy?
  14. It's all well and good that he wants to hit people but some regard has to be given to his own health. A player only has so many hits in him before he physically declines and if he is the real deal then we want him around for along time. Take care of his assignments on each play and I will be happy.
  15. Gotta remember that there are several picks in Rds 4-7 at present so I would not be upset if Beane took a couple defensive players late. Not saying that they will likely take defense 1 but if they do I want picks 2 and 3 for the offense and one pick per round barring trade in Rds 4-7 for the offense.
  16. The psychiatrist couches will be full in Buffalo if the Rams and Chiefs do not meet in the SB. Worse if somebody like Belichick beats the Ram with his defense in a 17-14 victory in the SB. People will stay in their beds laying in the fetal position.
  17. I think that people are making too much of Monday night's game. We knew both teams were high powered offenses with weak defenses so the result was no surprise. 80 percent of the league probably could not field 3 reliable targets per team to be able to duplicate what the Chiefs, Rams, and Saints are doing. And if it is something that can be coached by modern technique then I expect the Pegula's to grab such a coach out from under somebody else if possible.
  18. It's looking less likely that we will be picking in the top 3 which is where the insane trade offers are made on. If picking 5-10 take the most elite player even if that player plays defense. If the cards fall that way then picks 2 and 3 should be for the offense. If the NFL is going to be this pass happy league then having two top corners may not be a bad thing for a short term counter strategy.
  19. The hope is Allen will be at least competent and that we are done with the hard part of the schedule which has been demonstrated by playing teams such as the Chargers and Chicago who barring collapse are going to the playoffs. Other teams we have faced such as GB, Min, Ten, and Baltimore are sitting on the cusp of the playoffs. I would be far less optimistic if we had played cupcakes for most of the early schedule This is why you have to have good drafts which means good scouts, personnel men, and a GM to do it. Maybe the Bills are finally turning a corner in that regard?
  20. A corner though possibly the best value for our draft slot will make a lot of heads explode. Today we have guys talking about picking up "modern" OC's and HC's as though they were waiting in the neighborhood bar for an offer. Guys here will post endless "I am done with this team" threads if a CB happens.
  21. I was going to say while it is a really long shot we are only two games out of second place with a number of other teams only sitting two games ahead. Right now I would have to pick the Chargers and one team from the AFCN as the Wild Cards but stranger things have happened. I don't see big offers coming for trade ups to the top six next spring. At what point is it not worth picking up a couple measly low picks versus taking a guy that may not be a tremendous need (although very useful) in Greedy?
  22. People talk as though getting an offensive minded coach is as easy as getting one off of the shelf at Walmart. Further, you have to have one that is not just a flavor of the month choice where defenses catch up to it in short order. I'm thinking about the NBA and how teams started countering Shaq with the "hack a Shaq" strategy. Guys like Belichick are not going to allow a division rival to blow the doors off of them twice a year. Offensive poor teams will employ disposable defensive players to carry out "hits" on key opposing offensive players to take them out of a game.
  23. Doug as many people are in general society is complex when it comes to figuring him out. Word around Syracuse was he was unapproachable but if you could get in with him he was a decent if not great guy to know. One story that I find interesting is that somebody thought upon meeting him that he would have benefitted from getting his ass kicked when he was a kid. It was speculated because he was tall and big framed nobody ever picked a fight with him. Where this is going is that sometimes by getting your butt kicked you learning some humility. That you are not leaps and bounds better than those around you. Doug may not be extremely arrogant but often there is little "give" to the man.
  24. Not the same stadium as the Skins played at RFK back in the 1980's. With proper sympathy now expressed for Smith can we now talk about curses?
  25. Marrone believes that his obnoxious and boorish behavior will single handedly win you a SB. Almost worth it to be in the stadium next Sunday to see Doug's head hopefully explode.
