Here are some facts: Over the last five years, from 2014 through the 2018 season, teams returning from a bye week have a collective record of 84-76. That's 84 wins and 74 losses for a winning percentage of 54.5%. This trend of teams returning from a bye week having a winning percentage slightly higher than .500 has remained consistent for several years. It supports the belief that teams with fresh legs have a small advantage over teams that didn't have the last week off. We are 4-1 after bye weeks since 2014 Its a 16 game, grueling season, and we have 4 rookies that are a big part of our team in Ed, Motor, Knox and Cody. Coaches say the rookie wall is a real thing, if they're right, then why not take a bye week here? At least for the rooks. Backup talent needs reps too. Barkley, Duke, Spencer Long, Darryl, Perry at RB, Corey Thompson & Stanford at LB, Sweeney at TE--Lots of guys need reps and we need to see more of them in real game situations. Evaluation AND in the event a man goes down they're that much more prepared. Dropping a game to the Jets would raise us up in each round of the draft and slide them down in each round. Also a plus. So the coaching staff knows all this, which means if they play starters a lot Sunday they must feel like there are things we need to correct before playing Houston, and doing it in a real game is the best way. My question to McD would be, if you insist on playing starters, why didn't you play any of them in the 4th preseason game? Both precede huge games, but are also meaningless for a playoff bid. Makes no sense. My opinion is that resting every single player you possibly can is more advantageous.

Should The Bills Bench Alexander?
Da webster guy replied to Dr.Sack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is his last year, and he'd probably agree. The guy is such an ideal teammate and leader, and what a great story coming into the league and playing as a lineman, then shedding a ton of weight and playing LB at a high level for so long. He had some pretty blatant misses vs NE. I'm sure Beane and his scouts are looking hard for his replacement, we need a DE and an OLB to come in next year and add some nastiness to this D. Before the season started I felt like Tremaine would eventually slide out to Lorax's spot and they would give Stanford a shot in the middle, but Edmunds came on strong and hes not going anywhere. We will see some Corey Thompson in for Lorax this Sunday, it will be good to give these young cats a shot to show their stuff. -
I agree its absurd. Josh will finish the year around 3300 yds passing, qb rating mid 80's, 30+ total touchdowns on 9 picks. 10+ wins, a bunch of 4th quarter winning drives with a reputation for toughness and winning on the road. 2nd year qb with virtually zero time to sit the bench and learn the pro game. Not sure what people expect from a rookie qb, but if this doesn't excite you then you oughta look harder into the game itself and educate yourself in NFL qb play and the path from draft pick to established franchise guy.

How Much Confidence do you have in Miami?
Da webster guy replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eric Wood said on GR that if we neat NE he will make sure he gets Fitz is good and motivated for an upset in week 17 -
Pre snap reads, 4th quarter drives, getting the ball out faster, less reliance on running, play changing, cadence is excellent now- he gets defenses to jump a little so he can identify pass rushers vs droppers, RPO technique is coming along nicely, leadership, INT's WAY down last 10 games, looking off safeties, leadership. Oh and WINS.

Bills will light up NE on Sat

Expecting to win vs a team whose offense we held to 9 points in September isn't out of touch with reality. -
Playoff Tickets / Location

If we beat the Pats in 5 days, don't count out Fitz balling his ass off vs NE in week 17 to give us the division. -
Milano and Tremaine healthy and now have adequate experience playing together.

Did we really try a RB option pass?
Da webster guy replied to Xwnyer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The John Brown TD pass changed the entire game on Thankgiving. It took the wind out of their sails and was the single most important play of our season. I like Dabolls thought there: we're well within FG range and can take a small loss on the play for the chance to have them bite on the run play and give us a wide open receiver in the end zone. Reasonable risk/reward choice imo -
Lose to New England next week and get a bye week.
Da webster guy replied to 0017's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're spot on. Play the Pats hard but the second you feel the game has been decided, understand that either way you have 15 days untill the NFL playoffs begin, and we need to be healthy and ready to go beat a good team on the road. Would be nice. I think we can. -
Steelers strengths and weaknesses
Da webster guy replied to Codyny13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hate when pro receivers do this. i swear high school teams are better at sight adjustment than many NFL teams. We did it horribly vs the Ravens. Receivers are taught to run into the empty spot vacated by a blitzing player instead of running their pre-assigned pattern. The QB sees the free rusher or blitzing LB/CB and knows that the receiver will sight adjust accordingly and run a route that takes him into the hole left by the defender. But the WR needs to make a quick post-snap glance to the Dline to be aware, and I dont usually see our guys do that. This is the first thing I watch when a blitz comes-- where is the hole and why arent our receivers adjusting. They're supposed to do the same thing when the cb is playing way off them, change the route to take advantage. John Brown stands out to me as excellent on route adjustments, and I'm sure its done more than I can see, but it sure seems like a shortfall and I'll bet Daboll was all over them about it this week. The other thing we messed up w Ravens was the Oline wasn't presnap adjusting enough to allow Josh to see the free rusher. The idea is someone is coming unblocked, and he needs know its not a blindside rusher so he can deal with it. The line usually shifts assignments to prevent this, but we need to get this right. -
Andre Roberts is a waste on the 46
Da webster guy replied to TPS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wait, didnt he have 66 and 76 yard returns in back to back games for us this year? -
How about MVP Lamar Jackson today?
Da webster guy replied to ToGoGo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's having a great season, wasn't so great today but did enough to get a road win against a solid defense. Neither qb played great today. -
Why wasn't Duke Williams active?
Da webster guy replied to HailMary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree 100% Weird that McKenzie wasn't even a draft pick for us. McD, Daboll and the WR's coach must have their reasons for keeping Duke inactive but it sure seems like it needs a harder look. It's not like we are lighting up the scoreboard, and it makes sense to try a big receiver package w Foster, Duke and some TE's. -
Big stiff arm, and scrambling after a pass rusher touches you probably favors qb's more than RB's. I wonder what Rosen's yards after contact number is (negative?) sorry guys, I bring up Rosen frequently to humble myself for actually saying "Jesus Beane you picked the WRONG Josh" on draft day. I said it pretty loud too, like I knew what the hell I was talking about......

Maybe we do need a dome? Ticket prices
Da webster guy replied to bbb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There will be people in every seat. Pegula has enough money. Cheaper ticket prices mean more people can afford to go to the game that otherwise might not go. No such thing as bad weather, just bad winter gear (make sure you bring a stadium blanket and a nice seat cushion) Go Bills ! -
Austin Hooper, FA to be. Would ya?
Da webster guy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love the guy. I don't know how many drops Knox has but it's obviously enough to concern anyone, he did it in camp quite a bit and again this year in regular season. Knox is tough, good blocker, but unproven as a receiver. Not in college, and not yet in the pros. Hooper might have injury issues that could scare away teams, but I think he'd beat out Knox in camp and earn the start next year. -
Worried about Oliver? Read and watch this !

Peter King's Take on the Bills - 12/2/19

And genuinely humble. He knows HE'S still a work in progress too as a head coach, still learning game management, etc. He said it a few days ago. -
So please tell me again, how McD is Dick Jauron
Da webster guy replied to Reader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. -
Home field means less and less to a team like ours. Do we wanna be home? Of course we do. Is it a 3 point advantage for the other team in their house? Maybe for some teams, but the Bills Mafia represents in virtually every stadium, and our fans dampen the crowd noise enough that our offense can audible anywhere, and our defense gets to communicate better. (Tremaine always says how much he loves our home crowd but the noise makes it hard for him to communicate) I think if Daboll gets out of Josh's way we can start doing 28-35 pt games and it won't matter who or where we play. Our defense can work with those numbers.....

UB RB Jaret Patterson 6 TD day
Da webster guy replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was my favorite last year too. Singletary type guy. Super elusive, great vision. I swear these smaller backs get a little advantage running behind a huge Oline in that they're harder to see for the LB'ers because they run so low.
