  1. I suspect that there are a few backups that could win a starting job here, though.
  2. Not in recent years anyways. I think they will eventually replace a couple guys with marginal talent. That's probably as good as it gets. You don't want to just change the names on the OL, but I expect that after watching more film of this nightmare, they will deem 1 or 2 guys as just not up to par with NFL level ability.
  3. I guess that depends what you're willing to give up.
  4. You may be right, but I bet Beane will at least make some calls and perhaps be a little more generous. JJ Watt must be hungry to play against us. Marcell too. Someone they'd have to offer too much for, but this is really bad.
  5. Forget Mack for now. We need a serious influx of pass protection. I won't beat that point to death. If you don't believe it by now, you never will I don't see much talent out there in FA. What other option is there? Our QB's are in for a long season if this isn't addressed. They thought they could sit tight for a year until we get some cap space, but now I'm not so sure? Am I overreacting? Your thoughts?
  6. This is EXACTLY right. This OL isn't bad. There is not a starter worthy player on that OL with the exception of Dawkins and he should be playing RT or G. Assumiong the talent is there, we need to spend that very high 1st round pick in 2019 on a franchise LT.
  7. He masked the weakness of our OL, but that won't happen this year. This offense will be bottom 3. Bank on it. The defense will be below average. Get ready to draft the best OL in the draft next Spring.
  8. I rest my case. If this is not the worst OL in the NFL, it must be the 2nd worst. Our WR's can't get open either. Clearly, this defense has been vastly overrated by many. I'll get flames as usual, but our OL was terrible last year and our 2 best OL are gone and we did nothing to raise the talent level up front. Sit Allen before he gets killed back there! This OL is going to see a lot of 3 and 4 man rushes getting to our QB. Like I said. GET JOSH OUT NOW before he gets killed and find ANYONE that can block and sign them.
  9. Of course they did. The real questions are what do we trade and is he worth the price.
  10. They had Flacco in place, so they had an edge. Too bad. I really wanted him to come here. He has world class speed and would be great with Allen.
  11. To paraphrase Mick Jagger, I just can't seem to drink them off my mind.
  12. I will be extremely angry if they take another LB in the 1st round when we have such a horrible OL and no deep threat. Fix the OL before you get all of our QB's killed!
  13. Only total homers think this defense is going to be elite. The DL is very average and the LB corps is below average, so I think that unless young Mr. Edmunds can figure out where he needs to be, get used to it. We won't be the worst run defense in the NFL, but we will be above average thanks to our DC.
  14. Sadly, I agree. Between the lack of talent, Shady being unable to find any room to run and the receivers not getting open and forcing the QB to hold the ball, whoever plays QB for us is going to take a beating. I wouldn't be at all surprised if AJ isn't the only Bills QB to go down with injuries this year. We simply must make every conceivable effort to bolster this OL for next year and keep Josh's butt on the sideline. I'll be really sore if his career gets cut short or otherwise sidetracked by the incompetence of this OL. I've been saying this all along, but so many people just won't accept it until the regular season starts and the train wreck gets everyone's attention.
  15. If we didn't already have decent DE's and his price was right, sure. There's no question about his ability. I just don't think we can afford him.
  16. It looks like Bridgewater is back, so if Darnold is the real deal, he'll be traded out of the division most likely. I am excited for Allen, but I honestly don't ever expect him to be in the same class as Rogers or Brady. They are way more accurate than Josh with their throws. McCarron: A decent QB, but how decent? Are we talking Fitz or an above average starter? If he were really good, he would have dislodged Dalton in Cincy, but he could at least be as good as Tyrod overall. He is much more accurate than Allen. Petermann: Better than advertised. With experience, he'll settle in for a long NFL career. Maybe even start some day. Unfortunately, he will always be remembered by some Bills fans for his first NFL start. He sure lights it up in the preseason though, doesn't he? Maybe he will surprise. I'm willing to give him another chance if he keeps this up.
  17. We don't need a new stadium at all. There's nothing wrong with the current venue. NFL owners spew this nonsense to get the govt to cough up money and people believe it. I have never in my life taken 'stadium cost' into consideration when deciding whether or not to attend a game. I'd rather they spent the money educating our children and paying teachers a decent wage.
  18. Watching the 2nd half of the Carolina game, it was pretty clear that Allen has problems with accuracy. Sometimes he's right on the money and other times he missed badly. So I wonder. I've seen a lot of QB's come and go and I've seen very few, if any, that have been able to fix an inaccurate arm. I know Eli Manning was strictly a bomber when he started and he learned to work the short game and to throw with touch, but was he inaccurate? EJ Manuel never fixed that problem. Will this be Josh's downfall or can coaching and practice get him to be more accurate because I really believe that if it doesn't improve considerably, it could sink his career like it did to EJ. How can you retrain an arm like that?
  19. There were questions about his technique coming out, but I think he answered his doubters tonight. I'll be watching him closely.
  20. The camp bodies around him and on the 2nd half defense played poorly, but that's no surprise. Most of them will be gone soon anyways. I too would like to see him get that chance, but even so... I saw some good things, but I also saw that his reputation for inaccuracy is well founded. It wasn't all bad, though. He might have been able to hit that deep ball to Foster if he'd kept running, but a couple throws were way off.
  21. I really doubt he'll be the starter, but what I know is that a LOT of people have ignored everything else he's ever done and judge him only by the 1st half of last year's Chargers game.
  22. Yup. An extremely DOMINANT defense is what you'd need.
  23. Yeah, you can still win a SB with defense maybe 10% of the time and the other 90% comes down to O, mostly passing. It used to be mostly about running and D. Also, I wouldn't dismiss the wins by Brady, Wilson and Manning. Peyton might not have had the best arm any more, but he was probably the smartest QB of the modern era. He was very proud of his work ethic and preparedness. Also, NE's defense is usually good, but you dismis Brady too easily IMO. On the other hand, the run game could make a comeback if the shortage of quality O Linemen were to end.
