Well, preseason isn't really for fan entertainment. They are for getting players reps. It's just a scrimmage and evaluation tool for the coaches. But, fans like to watch, so why not sell some tickets?
-
Yep, you should need both, I think. You need to be among the best during your era and do it for a long time. The one I struggle with is Frank Gore. He has the longevity, but I never felt like he was elite. He made the pro bowl 5 times, though. I kind of hope a guy like him does not make the hall of fame, even though he has the career production, which is commendable. But, I almost feel like he is a guarantee to get in.

Is Josh Allen already the best dual-threat QB ever?
MJS replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, I would argue they are running QB's, not true dual threats. Josh Allen blows them out of the water with passing ability and stats. You'd have like 10 dollars! -
I was going to post something similar. He hates Buffalo because he gets owned every time he plays against the Bills. His time in NE was a net positive for Buffalo. He tied up $50 million in cap space over his time there and produced like a 4th tier TE.

AFC Best Case Worst Case Season Outlook July Edition
MJS replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Ravens had to let a lot of talent go. Not a lot of people are talking about that. I think they might surprise people with some early struggles. -
Yep. Exactly. Lamar Jackson is a good QB. He is a dangerous playmaker. He has some limitations as a passer, as most QB's do. But he is no Josh Allen.

The rushing yards were pretty consistent with the previous three seasons. I think the Bills were forced to turn to the run game more because of the lack of effectiveness of most of their receivers, including Diggs, Davis, Harty, and Sherfield. They basically only had Kincaid and Shakir to throw to. So, I voted for under, not because I think there will be a big dip, but because I think the Bills will have a more effective passing game this year and the rushing will remain close to the same.

What's crazy is that players are now getting contracts for more than entire franchises sold for in the 90's. Mahomes is at $450 million. Herbert, Jackson, and Allen are about $260 million.

I'd remove Bob Hayes, WR. Seems like he was a good player, but not hall of fame worthy. Also Lynn Swann, WR. He was another good WR who got in because he was a Steeler. Not hall of fame caliber to me. Also Terrell Davis, RB. He was amazing for a few years, but didn't have the longevity I think is necessary to make the hall of fame. He ranks 58th in career rushing yards and 54th in TD's. Players who should be in: Steve Tasker, Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne.

Yeah, I was going to say that. Nobody outworked Jordan. He was the complete package. Great on defense, too.

I think Milano's 2022 season was better than any single season for Shane Conlan, if you can really compare them and the eras they played. But Conlan has the better body of work, in my opinion. Plus, all the injuries with Milano kind of puts a damper on things. But, if Milano puts together another couple of impactful seasons, he definately should be considered.

No way does he unseat those 4, not yet at least.

He's a running back. Dime a dozen.

Vegas Odds on Bills landing Michael Thomas
MJS replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's going on half a decade since he has been a good player. -
The space-time continuum is saved.

I think to have his jersey number he had to be listed as a linebacker.

Who was your all-time favorite player that was NOT on the Bills?

I was always a Peyton Manning fan. I also liked Drew Brees. -
Allen's Playoff Stats vs Burrow & Jackson Combined - Not "Inflated..."
MJS replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, it isn't quite that simple when you have a dynasty like the Chiefs to get through. Maybe in a different time and in a different conference you could say that, but that's not the case right now. Hopefully this year will be different. -
Allen's Playoff Stats vs Burrow & Jackson Combined - Not "Inflated..."
MJS replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wait, who made this claim? It is a ridiculous farce of a claim. For one thing, why should a QB have to remove his best game from his stats? That game happened. For another thing, Josh Allen has been incredible in the playoffs almost without fail. Anyone who doesn't know that has not been paying attention. That's one of the indicators that he is indeed an elite QB. He brings his best game in the playoffs, when it matters most. -
Kind of. Allen just has those jaw dropping moments, though, unlike any other QB. It isn't just the strong arm or ability to run it. He has the ability to just take over and dominate with pure will, at times. Leaping over guys. TD passes as he is getting tackled out of bounds. That play where he picked up the fumbled snap and forced his way to a first down. Just incredible heart plays. Nobody else is like him.

The Giants oline last year was historically bad
MJS replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow. 2nd all time. Only the Eagles in 1986 gave up more sacks (104). -
Ok, but he wasn't injured for the year in 2023. He played in all 17 games in the regular season and in the playoffs against the Steelers. Yeah, he got injured and missed the next game, but it wasn't that serious. He said he would have played the next week against the Ravens had they won against the Chiefs.

It's pretty cool to see the success of this current era of the Bills reflected in the hiring of GM's and coaches around the league. It just shows how respected the current organization is.
