They just didn't do their due diligence. But most had Allen projected very high. Almost everyone agreed he would be a 1st round pick. Some just thought he was too risky. A guy like McShay admitted how lazy he was when he didn't believe that someone would watch all of Josh Allen's rookie games, showing that he was willing to trash Allen without even doing the homework to watch him play. Lots of people in the media don't do enough digging. They see a number and make a conclusion, but don't do any digging to see why the number was what it was and how other numbers compare. It's just lazy and bad guesswork. But the number is solid and still tells a good story if you do the digging.

Those movies came out in the 70's and 80's. -

What's wrong with quoting Yoda? You wanted Obi-wan quotes instead? I am fairly certain that Star Wars is generally adored by both idiots and smart people alike, btw. -
Which defensive scheme would you prefer?

We need a poll for the most angering defense from the 90's to today. -
I think my perspective of the oline is that we have mostly decent starters. Our two starting tackles are above average. Morse is probably above average. We are below average at both guard spots. But we have great depth with little drop off with our backups. I would like to see Beane continue to build the lines and upgrade spots, but the way he has built it means that there are no positional emergencies on the line, which is great. I think part of seeing better oline grades from PFF falls on Josh Allen's shoulders, and how little we ran the ball. I think the Chiefs playoff game really showed that our oline is not really a top ten unit. They are average and can get abused by internal pressure.

Dang. Hopefully that doesn't carry over to madden. I prefer all my linebackers to have numbers in the 50's. That's a lot of linebackers in the NFL that will have to change numbers, if true. I'm not too excited about this. I like the more traditional number system. But, if it makes the players happy then so be it. It is not that important.

My gut feeling is they'll move up. Our guts are at odds.

9 wins is worse. Don't they always? -
NFL's top 25 players not in the Hall of Fame: #24 Steve Tasker
MJS replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you do a search for best special teamers of all time on google and look at the rankings that show up, many of them list Steve Tasker 1st. Some of them do not, but even when not he is always up there with Ray Guy and Devin Hester. -

The Dolphins could be worse. Fitzpatrick won 5 of their 10 wins last year and he is gone. Obviously he wasn't the only contributor to those wins, but the Dolphins coaching staff certainly didn't show any confidence in Tua last year. -
Excellent argument AGAINST drafting a 1st Round RB

I think they are fine. I was excited for a big 2nd year from Singletary and it was a let down for sure. But I think he has the tools to be good. But neither of them will ever be great running backs. I think it is up to the line to block better and Daboll to improve the run scheme. -
Draft night expectations; Trade up * Stand pat * Trade back
MJS replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could see them trade up a few spots. Or trade down. The least likely thing for Beane to do is stay put. He is always wheelin' and dealin'. -
Bojo to Rams (update - traded to Packers)

Miami considering trading down from 6

Then they should not have traded back up to 6. -

Who's your pick for this years Madden cover?

Hillis got injured? I thought he just sucked. Mahomes injury was not serious. -
Underrated QB. He had some really good years in KC and San Fran. I think people just got so used to calling him average or below average that they didn't realize that se of his seasons he was easily a top 10 QB when you look at the stats. And he was a 3 time pro bowler. I also think it was super lame that he got the boot after taking the 49ers to the Superbowl. San Fran should have stuck with him.

Going away from the tiger stripes as much as possible, I see. Probably a good choice. They look like the Browns now. The Bengals have had bad uniforms for most of their existence, so it makes sense that something new would look better.

NFL's top 25 players not in the Hall of Fame: #24 Steve Tasker
MJS replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tasker has been a finalist many times, and has been a nominee many more times than that. So the people who make the decisions disagree with you. They think he is at least a borderline hall of famer. To me, he changed the way special teams was played, brought prestige to special teams outside of returning, and helped solidify roster building to include special teams considerations. He had an impact on the history of the game. Many modern day special teamers including most of the great ones from the past few decades, revere him and there are countless people, many of them not even Bills fans, who believe he should be in the hall of fame. So, I respect your opinion, but I disagree, and there is a very large contingent of NFL fans, media, journalists, players, and coaches who think he should be in the hall of fame. In fact, I would have probably put Tasker in before Andre Reed. Because Tasker's contribution is more unique and he was the best at his job in the NFL for most of his career, and many consider him the best at his job ever in the history of the game.
