Diana Russini in The Athletic - draft and tanking idea
MJS replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don't mess with the draft. It already works well the way it is. Tanking in football does not work. -
Says who?

We need new coordinators. As bad as the Bills defense has been, you at least see them make some stops here and there and adjust. McDermott has gotten involved to stop the bleeding. The offense, though, is utterly incapable of getting out of a slump or making any adjustments. It seems they have to see a play get stuffed three or four times before they stop calling it. Brady just isn't the guy. I'm not sure it makes sense to love on from them until the end of the season because there are no upgrades to be had right now. I'd be all for bringing back Daboll next year.

"IR is a possibility" for both Spencer Brown and Terrel Bernard
MJS replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Losing Spencer Brown is terrible. Bernard hasn't been playing well. We'll get over that one. -
That would have been more worth the watch, honestly.

Will Josh Allen want to stick around for a rebuild?
MJS replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh Allen and the players don't view it the way fans do. He feels just as responsible as anyone for losses, if not more so. He has been around sports enough to know that you win some and you lose some. Not to mention that Keon Coleman was hand picked by Allen! So was Ken Dorsey, and Allen has been a staunch supporter of Joe Brady as well. So, why would Allen feel any kind of animosity toward the organization that has given him everything he wants, including getting rid of Diggs and taking on 30 million in dead cap, because his relationship soured on with him and Diggs became a nagging distraction? Josh Allen has nothing but love for Buffalo, the organization, Beane, and McDermott. Players almost universally support their coaches. -
He switched his grip to get a better hold on Allen to actually bring him down.

People with very high expectations have very low resilience. Stop expecting so much and sports become much more enjoyable.

But we'd have Josh Rosen, so that would be a big gut punch 🙁

I don't think Epenesa is overpaid. But I agree with the rest, especially the idea that he signs C players to B contracts. That is very true. Even just giving out way too many B contracts even if they are B players, because there is no more room for A contracts on the team.

Hey, having a 2nd place schedule next year would be refreshing. And I still think they make the playoffs this season.

I root for the Bills to win. Every game. I never root for a loss. You can all try to do the mental gymnastics and postulate on what will fix the team and who needs to be fired and replaced if you want. I might even agree on some of it. But I only root for the team to win. I don't care about getting a higher draft pick or tanking for a certain player or to get a coach fired. I root for the Bills to win.

I was at the game and let me tell you what was happening downfield

I don't agree with that. The defense played great against Kansas City and great against Carolina. Meanwhile, our offense put up 12, 13, and 14 points against the Texans, Dolphins, and Falcons. The offense went completely anemic against those teams. And both the Texans game and Falcons game were easily in reach for the Bills to win if the offense had been even average. -
Who do you most blame for the current state of the Bills?
MJS replied to KentuckyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Brady is the biggest issue by far. Next I would say Beane. He is too obsessed with bringing back his own players. He gave bigger contracts to Samuel and Palmer who we barely use (maybe that's on Brady, though). -

Some of that is on the offense turning the ball over and giving it to the Texans in the red zone. The Texans also started with great field position on almost every single drive because the offense could not get past their own 20 yard line. Every time the defense struggles, the offense turtles up and can't do anything. The difference is, the defense turned it around, made adjustments, and played way better, giving the offense a chance to go win the game. The offense continued to spin its wheels all game long. The Bills have an average defense that is riddled with injuries, making it a poor defense. But even that poor defense gives the offense chances to go and win the game, and the offense doesn't ever reward that. -

The defense was great in the 2nd half. This loss is on the offense. Brady needs to go. The receivers aren't bad enough that they can't be schemed open. The Bills never have a good offensive game plan. They never try to exploit certain weaknesses. They run the same few plays over and over. If not for Cook's ability to make big plays, the offense would be just plain bad. -
Greg Rousseau has turned out to be a complete slug.
MJS replied to Walking Tall's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's a decent player, but I was against re-signing him. I was also against re-signing Oliver. Our pass rush and run defense haven't been good, so why bring back players who have contributed to that? -
That game was frustrating to watch, but others have been really enjoyable.

Left arm or shoulder. It got bent strangely when he went down. -

Mahomes has gone through stretches with poor receivers. He has always had Kelce, but Kelce has been a shadow of himself the last year or two. I think Mahomes is currently being held back by the lack of talent around him, including an oline that has problems. I think the Bills and Chiefs have a lot of similarities, actually. It's just frustrating that the Bills have been slightly below the Chiefs.

Pat Mahomes, Aaron Donald, Peyton Manning, and Reggie White could be considered for such a list as well, I think. The old timers might include Jim Brown.

Cole Bishop took two Tampa Bay points right off the board

That was one of the best rule changes of the past few decades. That along with getting rid of penalties for crowd noise.
