As I often say. We don't know what we don't know. I would venture a guess that his mind is made up. And from there, the Bills organization has made up their mind as well. So what could the hold up be on an announcement? Doctors. Medical clarification. Making sure he can not only get on the field, but walk off it. I guessed earlier in the season and my guess remains the same. Buffalo has a loose agreement in place with Hyde. If he returns, Buffalo will welcome him back. If he doesn't return a spot on the coaching staff either this year or next season has been offered. And if he does come back, I'm hoping it's more of a backup, leadership role rather than close to 100% of the snaps he's seen in the past. Though I like Hyde and wish him nothing but the best...he was noticably slower last year. And how many games did he come out of injured? IMO he's past prime of a guy that's able to be depended on for 17 games. His best role would be spot duty and passing that knowledge bon IMO.

I like that the ability to be a bit heavier gives the Bills the option to be more gameplan specific as well. Perfect example from last year was the Dallas game. How do you eliminate their best player of defense? Pound the ball. How do you take advantage bof the light LBers they trotted out? Pound the ball. At some point most teams will adjust and it will open passing lanes. Dallas did not...so Cook has a career day. Bills win big. Joe Brady's philosophy is simple. He's stated it in his PCs numerous times. His philosophy is simply: "What do we need to do to win this game?" Having a WR like Coleman paired with speed like Samuel, a mismatch like Kincaid and a solid ground game gives him the tools to do just that.

I believe there needs to be a poll about if a poll is warranted. Possibly a follow up poll about what the poll options should be if in fact there is a poll.

My definition of a "drought era" guy has always been a guy that played the majority nof his career in that period. For example, Kyle Williams to me is "drought era". Sure, he got that 1 playoff game at the tail end...but the bulk of his work was done on bad teams. So he is always my first pick in these discussions. Second pick, I'm open to a lot of different guys there. What the hey, give me Marshawn Lynch. Sure, he went on to bigger and better games. But not with the Bills. With the Bills he was firmly "Drought Era".

Ulofoshio's description really is right in the mold for what Beane likes in the young LBers he drafts. I'd say he has a type. If Solomon is even half of as productive winning his pass rushing snaps as Huff was last year...that's a solid pick. If Carter can be the primary backup to Oliver and rotate in consistently and Bishop is playing a lot I see some upside in both. For me, it's not about if Bishop or Carter start, but how many snaps can they eat up during a game. If Bishop does end up starting in that near 100% of the defensive snaps at safety role that Hyde and Poyer often would, great. If Carter can get 40% of the snaps at DT behind Oliver...huge plus. I think Davis is going to have a nice role as well. Possibly will be "the guy" in the next 2 years when Cook comes up for a new deal. I think Cook carries the load again this year and we see more of a split the following year as they transition. Kind of like it was during Motor's last season here.

I think a major discourse over the Bills WR room this off season is simply differing preference on what people believe they "should" have and what we "could" have, so to speak. People get locked into their thought process of having "fast" WRs, or at least one guy that's 6'4" or a dominant type guy. Nothing wrong with thinking any of that, of course. I think there are a lot of pluses to a more "spread the ball" philosophy as long as your QB is good at identifying mismatches and exploit them. Yes, a WR like Diggs has been in the past is a huge plus. It does open things up. But during his time here we were very fortunate that he never missed time (aside from when he would pull himself out of games, of course) and left a vacuum of targets unaccounted for. I also am of the thought that with guys like that, you have to get them their targets. And sometimes that leads to tunnel vision and comes at the cost of lost downs. I'm really interested in seeing what this group can be. We have some mismatches on the field. We need Allen to find those. Now, should they bring in a "big name" Alpha type guy, so be it. But I'm good with what we have right now. We will move the ball.

That's always an odd thing to hope for to me. He's on the roster now. I would figure the "hope" is that he gets the message that he's close to washing out of the league, matures and shows out. The obsession in this day and age to root for others to fail (especially those on a team you support) is kinda mind numbing to me.

What if I told you that since 2020 when he entered the league, Claypool has more catches, yards and TDs then OBJ?

The games I know off hand he was inactive for were right before and after the trade and I believe he had some knee issues as well. Not 100% sure if that was the cause of any inactives, though. Jokes aside, I agree that the signing isn't a terrible bone. I actually think this may be exactly the team and location he needs at this point. Close knit team. No real distractions. A lot of solid leadership. Coaches that coach and support the players. Contrast that with South Beach. A HC that wants to joke and be buddies. A locker room with quite a few players with odd attitudes (Ramsey, Wilkins, Tyreek ect). And of course the distractions and nightlife of Miami right in his back yard. Best case he knows this may be his last opportunity and we see him focus and grow. Guy put up 800+ yards each of his first 2 seasons. Let's not pretend he doesn't have talent. Worst case he flakes yet again and he's on the waiver wire and Bills aren't (likely) out much.

What has been sticking out to me in all the number changes and new guys numbers announced...23 is still unassigned to my knowledge. Now maybe it's nothing but coincidence. Or maybe the number is on hold pending an announcement from Micah Hyde at his charity softball game. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Do they though? They were in contact with Beckham a while before the draft. They reportedly offered him a contract then. After meeting with them 31 other teams had the opportunity to sign him at what appears to be a severely reduced rate from what he was making in years past. Yet there he was not scooped up. Kind of tells me where the league views him as a player. He's past the "hot commodity" prime and on to signing on the same day as the Chase Claypools of the world.

He's gonna look even older and slower next to the penguin and the abuser. And unless he's Tua's first read on the play he's not getting the ball. I expect Beckham's dad to make one HECK of a "Tua cant play QB" video this year though. Should win an Emmy or something.

Claypool is such a conundrum. He has skills. Flashed them in Pittsburgh from time to time. Showed them in college. I just don't think the dude likes football as much as he likes the paychecks from playing football. It's been said for a few years now about him, but it remains true. If someone could help get his head on straight he could be good. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that happens here. I'm thinking he's closer to being cut before preseason game 2 than he is making the roster. We shall see.

If the NFL insists on doing this, IMO the best way is to send 4 teams over. Maybe the whole AFC South. Have Jax vs Tennessee and Indy vs Houston the first week for instance. Then switch dance partners and schedule Jax vs Indy and Tennessee/Houston. That way everyone has the same benefit of being in place for 2 weeks.

And yet Jaylen Warren had a 5.3 ypc last year and a respectable 4.9 the year before. Compared to 4.1 and 3.8 for Harris in the same span.

Making matters worse for the Jets, they don't have the "cheap" out with a 5th year option on Hall. He was drafted round 2. Plus it's the Jets. Despite drafting 2 RBs this year...it's still possible they sign Hall to a new deal anyway. It's the Jets...lol.

Oh I completely agree with what you're saying with about 95% of that. It's well stated and I believe it's as close to accurate as can be. I do discount the statements made by Milano as players will often say "Oh, yeah, best shape of my life, injuries all heals and at 100%" this time of year without it being the case. Is it an example of an athlete providing accurate assessment of where he is ..or is this a Michael Thomas situation where we hear how close he is for 2 years. Time will tell. Am I reading way to much into a move like this? Possibly. Heck, I'd even go as far as probably. But it's that lull part of the off-season where moves get over analyzed and often are much ado about nothing. Still, with the injury suffered all we have really been told is "on track" but the coordinates for said track aren't ever pinpointed from what I have seen. This was from what it looked, a catastrophic knee injury. Is week 1 the goal? A candidate to open the season on the PUP? We won't know until we know, most likely. But taking a chance on vets like Morrow and Jones with the experience they have over some young guys with upside in an off-season where the theme has been "younger" may (keyword may) suggest they are preparing for a later Milano return than week 1.

Losing Dodson and Matakevich is valid. Klein was only brought in as a very late replacement, so in essence he would be "replaced" by Milano's return IMO. Also, not sure how much the really would have done earlier in the off season without much cap and the draft still ahead of them. Again, not saying Milano won't be back. But as always, we don't know what we don't know.

This off season they've brought in Morrow and drafted LBer late combined with how almost secretive they have been about the Milano injury since day 1 while having a guy they liked enough to draft in Round 3 last year and Spector. And now this. They aren't approaching the LBer room in a way that leads me to believe they think an All Pro LBer is returning at the start of the season. Not saying he's not, of course. Just taking a lot of bites at the LBer apple for a team that only plays 2 at a time (with some coverage on STs.)

Agree with Hardy and Grable. I think with the movement to younger/cheaper that then have gone this year we will see a higher percentage of draftees make the roster than in years past. And that may come at the expense of guys like Ingram. I wouldn't completely rule out Baby Gore leapfrogging Ty Johnson/Darrington Evans as well.

Safeties? We don't need no stinking safeties.

I think Hardy has a real shot to make this team. First off as depth at CB. I can see them wanting someone young back there to keep the pipeline full. Second, he was one of the top rated returners in the nation last year in college. Chances are good he gets a shot and that's what may earn him not only a roster spot...but a jersey bon Sundays. Have to remember as well, we lost some core ST guys this year such as Matakevich and Neal. They may or may not be replaced by guys with the same core position so it may play into carrying less at some spots and more at others than we have in years past. The new kickoff/coverage rules may also alter the numbers a tad as well
