Live 2024 NFL Draft thread - Rounds 4-7 (Do NOT tip the Bills pick)

That's a Dan Campbell guy right there. One large meaty man. -
Will Beane successfully move around on Day 3?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm starting to think if he makes moves, it's for 2025 picks and sliding down or out of the round. Very rapidly hitting that threshold where their board is likely running thin on draftable grades -

They had to lock the nerd in a broom closet to pull it off, but they managed it. -

Taking a fast RB in Rd 4 is a fine move. Moving a 3rd next year and spending that 4th this year to do it because "he's fast, it's cool" is going to lead to unemployment. -

Seattle has 2 of the next 3 picks. Rattler with one of them makes some sense to me. -

We're at the part of the draft where RB starts making more sense. Many really good ones on the board still. Some of which would be excellent handcuffs to Cook. I would not be upset at all if that's the direction they go here. -

If Beane feels like going after a vet WR, I'd rather hang onto picks and not pay a huge contract to a guy that largely has a similar skillset to the guy we just drafted 33rd overall. Maybe someone with speed, size and some experience like DJ Chark, who is a FA right now may bring something different to the room. -
NEW: Do You Like What Beane Did in the First Round?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's kind of like eating your Lima Beans. It's the smart choice. Probably really good long term. But it's not fun and rather boring. -

I like Watson. Good vision. Little underweight and concerns with pass pro for me. But could be good. -

I think it's a fair bet we see Buffalo take a RB at some point today. Lots of talent there left These are the guys I'd like to see one of taken by us: -Will Shipley, Clemson -Braelon Allen, Wisconsin -Audric Estime, Notre Dame -Ray Davis, Kentucky -Isaac Guerendo, Louisville -Isaiah Davis, South Dakota State -Frank Gore Jr, Southern Miss -
I'm wondering if the Giants stick and pick a QB early today. Rattler still on the board.
-
I personally believe Devonshire has been earmarked to be a Bill for a while. A day 3 Pitt DB? No brainier there IMO. I expect a RB early on today as well. Estime was in on a visit I believe.

Here's something else to remember. As we start round 4, Franklin is still on the board. We have a ton of 5th round picks. If Beane values Franklin as much as people here feel he should he has the picks to trade to go and get him. If he doesn't, it really says everything I need to know about their interest in Franklin. Oh, and there are other WRs left on the board as well. Let's see how today plays out, who we end up with and what we end up with. Heck Shakir was a 5th rounder in a WR class that was much less thought of.

Rd 2, Pick 33: WR Keon Coleman, Florida State
BuffaloBillyG replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall
Concerns, sure. Coleman isn't really going to be asked to run in a straight line on a track either. Guys often have a different play speed. But if we want to talk Combine numbers, during the cone drill he was listed at hitting 20.36mph...which was the fastest by any WR in 2 years at the Combine. I'd say that shows he's not exactly Jabba the Hutt running routes. -
Rd 2, Pick 33: WR Keon Coleman, Florida State

Weird. Because I could swear for literally years I've seen posts right here on this forum with people wanting to trade for Mike Williams. Big strong WR. He ran a 4.53, BTW. Not blazing, either. Now, I'm a person that has screamed for speed myself for years. Get me someone even Allen would have an issue over throwing. So I get it. But I'm willing to, I don't know, let the kid see the practice field and maybe a game or two before I condemn the choice because he doesn't have the skillset I wanted...which is what I see a lot of people doing here. -

Gabe Davis also didn't fight for contested catches. He didn't fight for the football. That's part of the reason Allen's INT rate when targeting Davis was so much higher than everyone else on the team. It's almost like there's more to the WR position than "run fast". -
Yeah. I'm quite comfortable with the idea that he wouldn't have been there at 71 most likely. Certain? No, I don't have access to all the draft boards. But pretty comfortable with the thought

Watching this it occurred to me what it is that he can do that we don't see from our guys now. He fights back for underthrown balls. Not only does he seem to be good at getting his hands on the ball (I realize these are just highlights) but this style of play tends to lead to getting those DPI calls when he can't come up with it too. -
Wondering if there will be times we see a three safety look as well. He can play that same kind of role Poyer did when they would drop him down and brought Rapp in deep with Hyde. Very versatile like that.
-
Pretty surprised he's still on the board. Though it makes me a bit happy we didn't burn pick 33 on a guy that's still there at 71 like so many wanted to.
