  1. It's a benefit/perk to being a good team. Agents use your team as someone interested hoping other GMs say "Wait if Buffalo is in, should we be as well?". We do the exact same thing whenever we hear the Chiefs name in on someone. "Well, if Andy thinks that LG is good then that's good enough for me."
  2. Welp, you would just have become the first to bring up all those topics for people to piggy back off of. Way to set the table😂 Seriously, I get it and it's really good for the players and safety. Could help some guys have longer careers, earn more money and walk away a bit healthier. But egads are those things fugly.
  3. I agree with a lot of what you say here. However, about the bolded. If they have a guy that stands out and is "their guy" then yes, agree, don't get cute and pick your player However do they have a group of guys lumped together? Are they looking at it as "Well, we can Grab DeJean, Newton, Franklin, Roman Wilson, Ladd, or a few others that are all about the same grade and be happy"? If so, another small trade back makes the world of sense. We'll know which they have in a few hours.
  4. This is true. However if the Bills have had contact with the 49ers either they or Deebo's reps may put it out there to stir interest. And being it mentions 2 teams it's likely agent or the 49ers. That said, even in cases like this, the "interest" could be something as simple as the Bills having a casual call with someone on the 49ers staff and asking what they are looking for....which is very common.
  5. Agree that may well be what we do. The fact of Cooper DeJean still being there is a real threat to that plan, however IMO. I don't know if I see Beane punting on WRs in round 1 to take 2 in round 2. Could just as easily see him going: DeJean -> Franklin/Wilson -> mid level FA vet (A DJ Chark level) in the next few days.
  6. I agree with that...unless they have Franklin and Wilson or possibly McConkey grades close enough that it doesn't matter to them which they get. Then I can see another small drop back maybe to Washington's spot. And that's if they pick a WR early tonight at all. As long as DeJean is there when the Bills pick it's a worry.
  7. Yeah, Franklin was always in play. People did as they often do and talked themselves into many others due to personal preference and the latest gossip. They did some work on Roman Wilson as well FWIW. He may be the fallback option or the second of a double dip.
  8. Never know. Pearsall may have been the "panic pick" people like to say happens. I'm wondering if they were targeting Worthy and that's why KC felt they had to jump up to get him.
  9. Agree on Worthy. However it's amazing how the laundry one wears can change my perception on a player. Had the Bills picked him he would be the best pick ever and a non violent version of Tyreek. But the Chiefs picked him so I believe he's going to be a Mecole Hardman/Marquise Goodwin hybrid.😂
  10. At least you got the Penix to the Falcons pick. That was one heck of a car wreck🤣
  11. Just curious, my friend. Are you the kind of person that reads the first paragraph of a book and says "Nope, this book is bad" and tosses it aside? Or watch 5 minutes of a movie and say..."Wow, what a dud" and turn it off? Instead of reaching on a WR or S/CB or DT that they didn't likely have valued at a round 1 pick they used round 1 to set up round 2. Let the day play out today. It could very possibly turn out bad, sure. But where we had 1 day 2 pick we now have 3 and the ammunition to slide as far up as we want at any given time. And I don't think they are done moving back. I don't see them picking at 33. I'm saying they make another small trade back with Washington and increase their pick value even more before unleashing hades on the next 2 rounds.
  12. I thought Beane made a very valid point last night. Let's say for the sake of argument the Bills weren't going to take Worthy. Let's say they saw the best value on the board was DeJean and took him. I see those as both being very plausible. Kansas City probably still moves up somewhere and ends up with Worthy anyways. More than likely they weren't just calling Buffalo. They likely had Dallas on the other line. Possibly Baltimore who has made deals with KC in the past. So in essence, by refusing to trade with KC, we have no pick in the 3rd, a S/CB that everyone is mad about taking and someone else improved their own draft picks. And the Chiefs still get Worthy and likely at a slightly smaller price. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see us take a WR in that spot...but let's see how today plays out. That pick at 95 can be moved way up just by using all those 5ths we have. Think I saw if they used all 4 5ths they had enough value to get to pick 77ish if they need to. I think by the end of the day we're going to be a lot more satisfied.
  13. It's about every year. NFL GMs operate on a long term plan. Fans operate on a year to year thought process.
  14. Depends how far we trade back again. I don't think Beane picks at 33.
  15. I have a feeling some of those 5th rounders we have will be used to move up from pick 95 to earlier in that 3rd round if he sees a guy he likes.
  16. Not necessarily. Beane made calls. I'm certain he made calls to gauge what certain spots would cost him should someone slip and he need to make a move. Either him personally or someone on the staff. Laying groundwork. He's talked about that in the past. Doesn't mean they were trying to move. Teams would report to insiders that they got calls from Buffalo so other teams may worry and up their price. Insiders report what they have been told.
  17. It's a weird move but Atlanta likes to make a splash night 1 of the draft. Honestly, not feeling bad for ol' Kirk. Guy has made a ton of money including $100M from Atlanta guaranteed. He gets that no matter what. Plus with the investment they made in him I'd say he's got 2 years in Atlanta. By that time he's 37 and likely at the end of the road anyway. Not only that but he is 35 and coming off serious injury. No telling of he's going to be the same.
  18. Disappointed we didn't get that shiney new WR tonight. But we did go from 1 day 2 pick to having 3 day 2 picks. If Beane had run out of 1st round grades players then the move was to move down... especially if he has a clump of guys closely graded. I don't like it...but I get it. And nothing is set in stone. Beane's got a golden ticket with pick 33. His phone will be ringing for a while tonight and early and often tomorrow. That 1st pick in round 2 historically gets moved often...so we may not be picking there either.
  19. The talk in the last few weeks was Franklin was a big interest for Buffalo. Looks like it may come to fruition.
  20. A moment of silence for our friends in England and their lost sleep for a fruitless evening. Rest up gents. We run it back tomorrow!
  21. This tells me that the Bills are out of first round grades players.
  22. Oh, this board is gonna be FUN all day tomorrow. Especially if we still take DeJean at 32. 😬
  23. Bad flash back. And it doesn't get us past the DeJean window unless somes grabs him in the next 3 picks.
