Ill check it out for sure. But, when I look at their roster I dont see that. I see issues at edge rusher, wideout, tight end and to an extent inside linebacker. Their offensive line is better than ours, not a hard task. They have an above average secondary, some nice players at runningback. Quarterback, remains to be seen. I dont disagree that they have a bad roster in comparison with the good teams in the league, I just think they have a very similar long view as the Bills.

I dont disagree in theory. But the immediate scenario for both teams is almost identical. They both spent this and last offseason clearing cap space and eating dead money to try and lay a foundation moving forward. In my opinion the Bills probably did a little better job of that, but not by much. The Jets also cleared a lot of space over the next three years. Something like a 850k dollar difference in favor of the Bills The Bridgewater move aside, and it shouldnt be discounted because it was honestly a great one, the Jets spent this offseason out maneuvering the Bills in draft position, and they did it while having a less torn down roster. I love the Bills, but the Jets are doing a terrific job right now. Ultimately, none of this will matter long term if Allen is better than Darnold. That is my fervent hope.

McDermott and young qbs
thenorthremembers replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it really depends on the situation. Doug Pederson is also from the Andy Reid coaching tree and Wentz started Week 1 of his rookie year. I wouldn't say the issue with Beane and McDermott is right now, they don't have a lot to choose from. The mistake they made dates back to March when they had a chance to sign seasoned quarterbacks who had multiple starts in the league, some with real success, and opted instead to sign a guy who had three starts in the league and immediately put him in a competition with two guys who had one start combined. The Bills should have had a plan on who their projected starter was in March, and then allowed Allen to change their mind if he was lights out in the lead up to the season opener. Their contingency plan was bad. Arizona was in a similar situation and handled it much better. -
An 18-game season with 16-game player limits?
thenorthremembers replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They need to think of more innovative ways to increase their bottom line while still getting away from the four game pre-season. I don't need an 18 game season, especially one where starters dont play two of them. These guys run a business where they can basically do no wrong, figure out how to make the gate from those two preseason games in a different way. Most fans would pay the cost of admission to meet the players and get autographs. If they are really that hard up, get a farm system setup with a season starting in the Spring working into the early summer, and let those teams play two games prior to the NFL season starting. They could be played at the NFL Stadium and be included in the season ticket package. At that point, if the players on that team are any good they could be called up for the final two pre-season games for the professional team. Gives continuity and creates some storylines. -
Allen had a bad game on Sunday. The O-Line was horrendous at times, but 2-3 of those sacks wouldn't have been issues if he got the ball out faster. Problem is you dont have the coaches tape, so I have no clue if the routes were open on those plays. The entire offense was bad, but it doesn't remove the blame from Allen. If thats McCarron, Tyrod, or even Peterman in the same scenario we let them share the blame. Allen didnt play well. I have never been a big "sit and learn" fan, I dont know what sitting on your butt trying to look through the eyes of someone else really does for someone. Yes you can see what they did in certain scenarios, but unless you're out there how can you really know. If Allen isn't ready to start, is he all the sudden ready if someone goes down? Does he learn a thing being the number 3? And if he is the number 2 why pay McCarron 5 million dollars this year to be your emergency QB? I have faith in McDermott, but I really hope he has a plan here. You cant spend the year going back and forth between Quarterbacks. Once Allen is in, he needs to stay in until its obvious he is or isnt the answer. Until then they need to draft a quarterback in some mid round every year until they know they have someone who is ready. If not they will be out of a job quickly.

Hard Knocks 2018: The Cleveland Browns

He's pregame ritual is a mani-pedi. Said he has so done it before every game since the Raiders. Found that incredibly odd. -

Good point. That applies to 8 of the 31. -
New Book: "Terry Comes Off As a Tool"

Got bored of this guys teenage girl act halfway through the article and gave up. He gave up on the Brady book because he is a muckracker that knows he can only sell sensationalism. Bottom line is this, the owners may very well be tools and jerks etc, but they are about a Billion times more successful at what they do than this guy ever thought to be. -
Seantrel Henderson & Kouandjio
thenorthremembers replied to ehfeuh57's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Henderson spent the better part of two years on IR or inactive, had a preexisting issue that led him to being suspended twice. Kouandijo has a knee issue that causes him to have an ineffective knee bend limiting where he can play on the line. Not to mention the little matter of being naked in a field at 3am and spending time in an hospital for mental issues. Next please. -
Yes. He may not have reached his potential, but he has started games in the league. I wouldn't give his roster spot to a 5'9 6th round draft pick who ran a 4.53 40' and averaged under 10 yards a catch in college. They may end up keeping Ray Ray, I would be surprised, but they may. I've never understood the love for Ray Ray here, could be all the PR material on him at the start of training camp, but I don't think he has had a good enough camp to unseat a guy they traded for because of the lack of WR depth on a team Ray Ray was already on. Again, I may be completely wrong.

Every Josh Allen snap in Bengals Preseason Game 3
thenorthremembers replied to cd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The offensive line was bad yesterday, but watching that, Allen didnt help himself a whole lot. While it's hard to tell because you cant see what he was looking at downfield, 3 of the 5 plays that ended up in sacks are plays he needs to recognize and get the ball out faster (again I cant see what the wideouts are doing downfield). Additionally, most of these plays look like they were designed half field reads, including roll outs which were designed for him to get the ball out quickly and find a rhythm. Outside of the offensive line, his wideouts did a pretty poor job helping the guy out. You had drops by both Clay and Benjamin. Clay coming too far back to the ball. He's young, but he doesnt escape culpability here. If Tyrod has the same game I would be on the board writing that he maybe gets a D grade overall, same for Allen here. The offense was pathetic on every level outside of some of a few running plays. -
Feeling the same way on McCarron. He isn't going to be the starter and its senseless to have your top ten rookie be QB#3. Not a lot of sense keeping a guy you need to pay 10 million dollars over two years as your #3. Is there a market? That I am not sure of given the lack of interest during free agency. However, the backup situation across the NFL isnt great. Jacksonville, Denver, San Diego, Oakland, Detroit and Seattle could all use help there.

LT - Dawkins LG - Ducasse C - Bodine RG - Groy RT - Mills Not great, but better than what we saw yesterday. Miller was horrendous. Ducasse was beat bad by a very talented player on a few occasions. Groy looked like an absolute fool on one play. But neither accounted for three penalties and a sack in one half of football. Sadly, there isnt a lot out there in terms of trade or scrap heap. They could trade for Warmack who would be an upgrade over Miller, but he is in the same realm as Ducasse when it comes to play. This way you aren't giving up future picks for players who are sub standard starters like Warmack.
-
Not sure, but I'd be reaching out to Denver and see if they would like A.J. McCaron for Max Garcia. They also have Billy Turner who Castillo coached in Baltimore.

Groy & Bodine = $4.6 mil in salary cap at center

You had me until you said not a single corner in the league can match up with John Ross. He has 1 career catch, and the team who drafted him in the first round considered moving him to corner. -
Bills' Preseason Week Three Postgame
thenorthremembers replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Groy play where he watched someone run by him, remained in his blocking stance and turned around confused is like something I've never seen on a professional football field. Ducasse being picked up like a baby and moved back into Allen was like a scene out of Necessary Roughness or the Replacements. absolutely no excuse for either of those things to happen on a professional football field. It was amateur hour today. -
Disgusting and Depressing
thenorthremembers replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree people should have seen this coming. But there is no reason to sully last year to make the point. It's a new year and a new team. They are going to be bad, as most teams who draft a qb in the top ten usually are. Best thing is to not panic and enjoy what you can.
