Dez Bryant to work out for the Ravens
thenorthremembers replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looking at the stats last year, the Ravens were 30th in the league in dropped passes at 13 and Buffalo was number #2 at 26. No one knows how good his wideouts were or werent because he only targeted them on 42% of his passes. He did the same thing in college. He likes to throw the seams because he isn't an anticipation thrower. He had a great year, but defenses will adjust to him. -
Dez Bryant to work out for the Ravens

Hasnt caught a pass in the NFL since 2017 and is 31 years old, the chances of him signing somewhere are quite low. Then again, he is big, can block well, and can act as another tight end across the middle as Lamar doesnt throw outside the hashes anyways. -
He probably isnt wrong, but 1,000 yards is not really saying much anymore, especially when he provided next to nothing in pass catching. I dont think he was being disrespectful and no disrespect to him but he certainly slowed down at the end of the year. That said, he probably had as good a season or better than the overpaid aging back who currently starts there.

Does anyone really remember how well he played last year? He was in on 16% of the offensive snaps, thats like saying you remember anything about TJ Yeldon's season. Very odd this has garnered so much discussion.

Hanging out with Chris Foerster again. -
None of this matters. The Hawks have Wilson, and the Jets have Darnold. End of story. Anything outside of that is hot air.

I think a lot of what goes on in terms of valuing players in Buffalo is about exposure. Milano and Edmunds essentially had the same year last year, one is constantly talked about as a future pro bowler, and was a first round pick, the other isnt. Not saying Milano is a better player, but he is a very good player and should be paid like it.
-
Anyone saying $7 million dollars a year or less grossly undervalues Milano. For comparison sake, the Bills just paid AJ Klein, a 31 year old linebacker who most likely will play less than 60% of snaps on defense this year, $6 million per year. Think what you want about Milano, but the guy is an every down linebacker, he played close to 90% of the defensive snaps last year despite missing a game, and was productive when he was on the field. No way he gets paid $7 million a year as a max out. If thats the offer he wont be on your team and its not like every down linebackers grow on trees, you also have to consider what they have behind him, which is next to nothing.

The extension itself will not be for anything less than $10 million dollars a year. I know he isnt the most popular player on this board, but he is a good player, probably top 15 at his position. Given the higher salary cap this year his extension probably looks something like 4 yrs/43.5million. The good news is our front office is smart, so they will add money to the last year of his rookie deal and spread the remaining money over the last four years. So essentially you'll get him at $9 million a year for five.

Not usually a big TV guy, but have watched a few shows throughout the pandemic. Peaky Blinders- Incredible show, fantastic writing and acting. Automatically went into my top ten. Dead to Me- Not bad, some funny moments, good waste of time. Afterlife- Better than Dead to me. Love Gervais, looking forward to the next season. Just finished the Mob documentary Fear City very cool to see the inner workings of Guliani starting to clean up the city. -
RIP James Harris, aka Kamala: The Ugandan Giant
thenorthremembers replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Sadly a lot of these older wrestlers are like the NFLers from back in the day, they helped create a megalith of a company but often end up in poor health and monetary situations. A lot of more wealthy wrestlers, and the WWE itself came out to honor James posthumously, hopefully they did a little to help the guy when he was still alive. Pretty decent article on his struggles below. From Wrestling Legend to Double Amputee- Kamala Keeps Fighting -
Had the same thought, but figured I'd get grilled for pointing it out. "I, myself" dont often feel bad for student athletes on full rides to top 100 schools.

His teammates said explicitly that the training staff is not putting their health or safety at risk. The coaches legally cannot tell the kids which of their teammates have COVID or not. The statement wasn't about his real health, it was about his perception of the situation, which is much different than the reality. He got himself in a tizzy and went straight to social media. He has every option to opt out of the season if he feels unsafe. This wasnt about his health, it was about his feelings being hurt and wanting to assign someone blame for that.

Telling how many times the kid used the word "myself" in his statement. Good work on pasting the Seminole logo into word to make the statement look official though.

Hauschka wins the job but Bass is staying around one way or another. I think its most likely on the practice squad. They dont tend to give up on their draft picks quickly. They save 2.5 million on the cap by releasing Hauschka next year and with the potential of a lower salary cap in 2021 I expect Bass to be the guy then.

Jim Harbaugh: Crazy Genius or Just Crazy?
thenorthremembers replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in College Football
You nailed it with Michigan. I honestly think Michigan is what brings Harbaugh down, not the other way around. They completely destroyed their program when they fired Carr and replaced him with Rich Rod. The expectations are too high for Harbaugh, a good year for Michigan should be 8 to 10 wins, not getting blown out by Ohio State, and playing in a respectable bowl game. They simply dont have the johnnys and joes to roll with Clemson, Alabama or Ohio State. They should be happy to compete with teams like Florida State, Notre Dame, and Florida.
