Right Now Mock Wise I would go: Rd 1: Metcalf if he makes it to 9 Rd 2: Chris Lindstrom My alternate would be: Rd 1: Ed Oliver Rd 2: Chris Lindstrom or Dalton Risner BUT if Metcalf can help push a guy like Allen down the board to #9 I'd go Rd 1: Josh Allen Rd 2: Chris Lindstrom; Dalton Risner Rd 2 wouldn't change. I think building the line from the inside out is a good way to go.

I wouldn't mind Metcalf at 9 and Lindstrom with the 2nd round pick to solidify the interior. If not Lindstrom then Risner.

They probably used calipers and pinched his bicep. There is no way ANYONE on the planet is 1.6% body fat. Not even roided geared up competitive bodybuilders get that lean.

No argument there. But let's not forget, a great deal of our WR's and TE's blew a lot of opportunities even Foster, who I always thought would make the roster, but early on he blew a lot of catches he should have made. So I'm not disagreeing. Just looking at the entire picture, Jones was no worse than anyone else we had last year and he was more consistent than his first season. Last year, Allen was just getting into things and the OL was one of the worst in the league. I think you have to let the process work itself out and see how things look with Allen with a year under his belt and a better OL; and Zay Jones where he needs to be, namely in the slot.

I think the other issue you have to consider here as well is that both Jones and Foster know the offense. We don't know if Duke is picking it up quickly or not. In addition, rookies (if we go that route) might need someone to help them pick up the offense. So I don't see Jones as an automatic get the boot guy. Knowing the offense is important. Both Jones and Foster can help guys that are unfamiliar. Everyone on offense has. So do we say the OL and the QB and a lack of running game held the WR's back or did the WR's hold the other parts back? In any case, we do know the line needs serious upgrades. We do need at least one other player at WR. More importantly, we need bodies at TE.

Even if he has taken the next step you wouldn't want him to be above the #4 WR? This is just silly and shows you just don't like the guy one bit and no matter what he does you are still not going to like or want him involved with the offense.

The guy I would want from Miami is Juwan James at RT.

I want to see him at the combine. If he displays flexibility, burst, speed, to me you take him at 9. But I don't think the Bills will. I think Beane will be more in the mindset of when he was an understudy with Dave Gettleman. It will be a trench player, whether that is edge or interior on defense, which is more than likely, or OT.

I'd be for it. I think James hasn't tapped his potential yet and would be a good signing for Buffalo.

Look for other options first.

I'm not saying they will draft a DB, but saying that PFF gave him a high grade is not a good argument for where and why the front office and coaching staff will take a DB. PFF, I'd wager, is irrelevant in talent evaluation. PFF has specific things they look for in grading players, which more than likely is not the same thing that scouts and GM's are looking at.

That's what I'm hoping. We can move back just a little from 9 and land Metcalf. You have to be careful with those types of things though. It might just be prudent to take him at 9. Ahhhh, I haven't been keeping up as much this year. Have a lot going on and only able to do stuff on the weekends. I didn't know Risner was working at multiple positions along the line at the Senior Bowl. Well if that's the case then I like his ability even more.

I'm more interested in this type of ability at the line and separation down the field.

I'm going to see if I can find some tape on him. Would have loved to have seen him live vs Vandy this year but it was AJ Brown schooling Vanderbilt freshmen DBs. Brown looked very slow to me. I think you take Metcalf at 9 if you are comfortable with his availability because everything else will most likely be off the charts. When you can have Metcalf and Foster on the perimeter and Jones in the slot, that could be something dangerous.

If there is a 5 star blue chip player that we covet and he's there at 9 I completely agree. You just don't pass up on those guys. But all of those type guys are gone and the difference between who we might covet after those guys is minimal, I think you make the trade. To me it just really depends on the combine and how the board starts to work itself out on draft night.

I wouldn't agree. A lot of teams run 1 Cross. It's just many of them don't run it well. The Chiefs actually tried to run this against the Pats and failed. 1 Cross is a common NFL/College Coverage scheme and that's what the Patriots utilized to muddy up the middle of the field. The Rams just didn't do their homework to help themselves in this game on the perimeter. There were several areas they could have attacked, but they kept trying to hit the middle.

I thought Wade called an excellent game. They played the run well on 1st down barring a couple of plays. They gave them the soft perimeter on 2nd down to put the Pats in 3rd and 5 or less and that's when they came up and pressed the WR's and forced throws most of the time. It was smart defensive game planning and playing the downs by Wade. The Rams offense on the other hand, McVay and Goff just couldn't figure out the 1 Cross. They needed to pass better on the perimeter and they couldn't. The Pats defensive plan was flawless based on what the Rams like to do. They scheme muddied the middle of the field and forced passes on the perimeter and the Rams just couldn't take advantage of that. This is coaching and players. The Rams saw this defense before. McVay saw this defense before. They had to know that they would see this in this game. But their plan didn't do much to help them. The Rams saw this vs the Lions (Matt Patricia) and McVay saw this when he was with the Redskins (Matt Patricia). 1 Cross muddy the middle and force the team to pass on the perimeter. For whatever reason the Rams didn't pass much on the perimeter. I'm not sure what they thought they were going to get out of these guys? Just because Patricia is gone doesn't mean that Bellicheck wasn't the mastermind behind the coverage scheme. Goff looked thoroughly confused and rather than letting it rip and anticipating guys being open, he was waiting for them to actually be clear and open. The TD he missed for instance, he was way late.

Not bad at all. I love the first six picks. Love the focus on the trenches first. Only thing I would say is Dalton Risner is not a C. Other than that, very solid haul for the Bills if it worked out this way.

Coming off that injury I'm not sure he's going to get that. We'll see. My hope would be for the Bills to find a vet Center and then make some moves on the board to set themselves up for Risner or Taylor in rd 1 and I'll need to do some research for round 2/3.

Yes, but get the gist of my post. That's not what they do and they haven't done that since they had Randy Moss. They've tried to fill that void by bringing in guys like Brandon Cooks last year and Josh Gordon and a few others. But perimeter vertical is NOT something they are known for this year. It's just not. How many vertical perimeter passes did Brady make other than that one. NONE. So why does SD play them like OMG, they are going to roast us vertically, so we better sit back in zone. Why are the Chiefs splitting the middle of the field in the first half? NE hasn't shown a consistent perimeter vertical attack all year yet teams play them like they still have Moss on the perimeter, leaving the MOF wide open for Edelman and Gronk. WHY?? What teams need to start doing is what Bellicheck does. Take away what you do best FIRST. Live with the rest. If the Pats are consistently beating people by exploiting the middle of the field then take that away first and live with whatever else they do. Just FOCUS on stopping something they do well and stop getting dangled in their hands like a puppet by allowing them to dictate and eventually do everything well on offense.

Yep, that's their perimeter passing attack. Again, nothing vertical on the perimeter. They use the backs on the perimeter and then just attack the middle with Edelman and Gronk. Hogan and the others are add-ons.

Denver rushed 5, pressed the WRs, dropped a robber in the hole. Their Edge guys won their 1 v 1 match ups. You don't try to fool him because he always knows where the blitz is coming from. You line up your best 5 guys. Press the WRs but have a plan for when they try to motion Edelman to get that free release. Maybe go with some switching, I dunno. You have to hit Brady, that's all. Even if you don't sack him, he needs to be hit, A LOT. The only other strategy that has worked was the Baltimore Strategy. Don't blitz. Line up base in zone. BUT, when the WR's catch it, they must be punished profusely. They will fold and stop desiring to make those catches.
