  1. Another thing I'd be asking is what are Josh Allen's best throws? From what I saw on his college tape and what we saw this last season I'd say: 1. Go's 2. Posts from the Perimeter 3. Digs from the Perimeter 4. Crossers 5. Deep Outs 6. Deep Comebacks To me these were Allen's best throws during his time at Wyoming and it showed last year in his rookie season with us. Given this data, a picture comes up. Allen's best throws are perimeter passes. This is not to say that he cannot do the others it's just those perimeter throws is where he shines. With that in mind, I would try to get him premium perimeter help first.
  2. I started doubting it two weeks ago, especially after I watched Allen and Sweat and their lack of counter moves. I think Allen will fall and Oliver will take his spot. I need to watch some tape on him, but the thing that scares me on a surface level is he doesn't even have Shaq Lawson College production rushing the passer. I like Shaq but pass rush has been a weakness for him. The last thing we need is another DE who's forte is stopping the run but cannot get after the QB. I'll need to look at some tape though, maybe there is some untapped potential there.
  3. I agree. There is no way I'm passing up on a premium edge rusher, WR, OT, CB, or QB (which we don't need) or a DT, who can do it all for a TE. 1st round is about premium positions and premium talent and when you have both in one player you take that guy. Hockenson is a premium talent that's not at a premium position. Oliver is both. Take Oliver at 9 if he makes it that far.
  4. If the Bills have their eyes on only 1 player at 40 they're going to be disappointed.
  5. Just because a stat line is pedestrian doesn't mean a guy isn't a high volume guy. The QB just might have been off or he could have dropped it. 73 catches this past season and 82 prior is high volume. I'm not saying that to say that he's bad. Far from it. But this does not preclude him also being a big play guy either. I only mentioned that as from what I've seen of him on tape, he gets targeted a hell of a lot. Just like AJ Brown and Brown is a high volume guy. That doesn't mean they are bad, that's just what they share in common with Zay Jones, but that's about all. They both have big play ability which we haven't seen from Jones.
  6. Our position with the least depth is TE, but I don't know if the coaches and Beane think this is a weak position. I mean, let's think about this for a moment. Do you think they are going to pay Kroft 6 mil a year to be a backup? It's essentially the same contract Jessie James is getting with one less year on the deal. I think they will add a TE but it might not be as early as people want it to be.
  7. Actually, and it's not their fault per se but I disagree. I think Harry, AJ Brown, and Zay Jones are somewhat similar in that they are all volume catchers. They all get a lot of looks and so their volume of catches is high. DK wasn't a volume guy for Ole Miss, he and Lodge were the big play guys so their volume and therefore their stats are not going to be close to volume guys. Now where I think AJ and Harry are different is just raw talent. I think AJ Brown has the talent to be a #1 WR regardless of where you play him. Same with Harry. Zay thus far has shown that he's primarily a complimentary guy. Maybe he has more to show but up to this point he's shown complimentary attributes and not dominating attributes.
  8. I'm in the camp of three WRs for the Bills: Metcalf AJ Brown or Harry If we can get one of them I'll be happy.
  9. The biggest difference between Bosa and Sweat/Allen is the former has an array of moves and counters. The latter two do not do well once their initial move has been nullified. That's exactly why I could see both Allen and Sweat falling further than people think. When you look at their tape a lot of their sacks are from straight speed rushes where they are not fighting through and showing counter moves. A lot of it is clean rushes where they don't get touched. But then when you look at how they respond to getting nullified that's where you begin to see, they are crazy athletic; they have great frames; but I don't see a lot of counter moves; violent hand work. So, I wouldn't rule either out at 9 but I wouldn't expect them to be day 1 starting pass rushers either. I think a year in the sub package and getting with a good DL coach will do both great.
  10. We didn't draft Phillips last year for nothing. Secondly, we are already devoting 10 mil a year to the DT position in Star. We have Phillips and Phillips. So I think they certainly can and will add a player but in the 1st I don't think they will. I think they will either go edge or WR. Even if we were to sign Ansah, I would still be looking for Edge, WR in the 1st.
  11. I disagree. When you look at Brown's deal it could be a 3 year deal or it could be a 1 year deal. The way it's structured they could cut ties next year. Then you have Jones who probably is fighting for his football life on this team. I'm not saying they will, but to me rd 1 is going to either be Edge or WR based on the way the roster is structured, especially if they sign Spain at LG. If they sign Ansah, then maybe we'll go with him and Hughes for one year for pressure but even then both are old guys. I think Edge is the pick, then WR and I wouldn't rule out CB.
  12. Ole Miss Pro Day is Wednesday. Interested in both Brown and Metcalf.
  13. Doesn't matter, they still need a presence at the position.
  14. I think Oliver is going off the board faster than people think. Baltimore would be an excellent fit for him. They need WRs in the worse way though.
  15. Dolphins. They are probably in tank mode. What better way to not get better than taking a player who can't play. I think we will trade into the teens and take Hockenson there if they have a trade partner. I think Ed Oliver is going to be off the board before 9 and I think Josh Allen and Montez Sweat will not go as early as people think. If we do this, I would like to take AJ Brown early rd 2, take the extra pick and package it to snag Tillery IF he's still on the board.
  16. It's true. The issue is the depth in this draft is rather mehhh after the top guys.
  17. And even then it had difficulty stopping the run in several games.
  18. From what I read Wilson had a good day. https://247sports.com/college/alabama/Article/Alabama-Football-LB-Mack-Wilson-happy-with-40-yard-dash-on-Pro-Day-despite-wanting-to-run-faster-130285535/
  19. I've already broken this down. I'd hardly calls this Greedy dominating him or eating his lunch. It was a great battle for sure, but Metcalf actually made some plays too. I don't like his drop in the redzone but what I do like is the battle with the best CB in the nation. Metcalf drew a pass INT call on a deep play. Greedy drew an offensive pass int call on another deep play. Metcalf caught a curl. Greedy had great coverage on the first snap and Safety got a break on the pass early because the QB stared it down. To me Metcalf was actually open on some other plays, one was a play where he ran a slant. But the QB never looked backside. In any case I'd hardly consider this evidence that indicts Metcalf, and actually far from it so I wish people would study it carefully and see that the same play making ability is there, just not as often.
  20. No problems with Oliver at 9 from me. I like others at 9 too. That's where I'm conflicted.
  21. I watched it yesterday and he's saying things I've also said, not that I'm taking credit. He most likely didn't see my comments anywhere. I'm just saying I view DK like he does. Hopefully, there will be a discussion. We know how these things tend to turn out.
  22. This is where we differ. I don't see Metcalf as a one trick pony. I'm not even sure what you mean by it? I know about Metcalf's cone drill, I honestly don't even care about it. Megatron is mentioned in your analysis and at least Metcalf ran the 3 cone. Megatron NEVER did and he dominated the position. He never ran the 20 yd shuttle either. My bet is Calvin Johnson didn't run the 3 cone or the 20 yd shuttle because based on his build, he probably would have been horrible at it. Secondly, Calvin Johnson did not run the entire route tree. His most dominating routes were Go's, slants, posts. Nobody was asking him to run snags, zigs, Poco, Copo, comebacks. Why would they? That's stupid (LOL in Robert Kelly voice YUK). "That's stupid guys. Use your common sense" LOL Anyway back to the post. He doesn't excel at that. Ask your player to do what he excels at and scheme around that. If I'm drafting Metcalf, that's exactly what I'm asking him to do. Go's, slants, posts, curls - He ran all of these at Ole Miss and was highly effective running these routes. He also had success on screens. I'm not asking him to run the entire route tree, I'm trying to accentuate his strengths. Let him master those routes. But his intangibles are 1) he wins at the line of scrimmage; 2) he uses his frame on slants to box out defenders; 3) he can get over the top of the safety on post routes; 4) He can win 50/50 balls. To me he has plenty of upside and plenty to build an offense around. To me the decision to draft him or not is based on do I want a guy at the WR position that I can build my passing game around or do I just want a bunch of complimentary pieces?
  23. I think the thing to ask is do we want to build our passing game around a TE or is our TE going to be a complimentary piece? If he's going to be complimentary then I think the team can wait until rds 2 and 3. If we want to build our passing attack around the TE position then take Fant or Hock in the early teens. Me personally, I don't see Hock at 9 because I see the TE as a complimentary piece in Daboll's passing attack rather than the centerpiece. 2nd, with the way Beane has been bringing in players in the offseason, I think the pick at 9 is going to be defense. Offense has received a great deal of attention through FA. At 9 I see Interior DL; LB; Edge, not necessarily in that order.
