riigghhhhtttt. Because beane is obviously in a bidding war here. Get real guys. People who think this is any sort of bidding war obviously haven’t been paying attention to how he has operated for the last 3 years. there’s literally nothing bad about this move when done at a reasonable price. Which is exactly the only way Beane lets it happen. Also where he Olsen said he was seriously considering retiring. I’ve only heard it here on this board with no sources. He actions say something entirely different. He had 3 visit to PLAY FOOTBALL lined up immediately -

That’s fair. But the dude is a pro’s PRO. If he’s signing a deal and getting paid for his services I think he understands what’s expected and I imagine he’d want to succeed. do we know he’s given it serious consideration or is that just what people assume? The guy got released and was lining up visits immediately. -

He would bring sure hands and steady veteran presence.... a presence from somebody that’s actually produced at an elite level, and not just untimely false starts or holding calls. .... also he had solid production last season believe it or not. 50 catches for 600 yds in just 14 games with Bad qb situation. I just don’t see any real downside to it if the price is reasonable. And with beane I’m fairly certain it would have to be for him to even entertain the idea. -

What exactly is the downside in looking into Olsen at a reasonable price. I find it weird somebody would be that irritated over it. -

exactly. after watching beane work for the last 3 years does anyone actually think he's in a bidding war here? -
I call BS on his “turnover worthy plays” helping predict future events. If this is the case Allen’s turnovers would have finally escalated as the season went on. They didn’t. They became fewer and further between. Therefore his “turnover worthy plays” predicted absolutely jack squat. this is a man CLINGING to his initial claims that Allen wasn’t any good. The more I read from these jokers the worse light it puts them in. One of the stats they use quite often is “adjusted comp %”. Earlier in the season Allen was very highly ranked in that stat and they completed downplayed saying his accuracy was still awful. They quite literally threw one of their very own stats under the bus to confirm and emphasize Allen’s accuracy “issues”. That’s sort of pathetic

you're right. but I personally would like to see kevin Johnson have another year and another go at Wallace this year... I believe that battle would give us a formidable #2 and #3.
-
maybe.... he also might be better too.
-
I just cant get excited about a DB pickup this offseason. bring back kevin Johnson for outside to inside depth and let Wallace keep developing.
-
he was in the teens most of the year. I looked at those rankings weekly. when allen started protecting the football and the team kept winning he magically started to climb the list. it wasn't just a couple of primetime games. but this really isn't worth the debate. so i'll end it with, IMO its about as fair a list as I've seen on a weekly basis. but like you said, we can agree to disagree.

the bolded really surprised me.... I shoulda done a bit more homework there. definitely helps his cause. actually back in week 16 or 17 of the regular season this panel had moved allen all the way up to 14 or 15.... its NFL.com. so its a panel that consists of a bit more than "the I've heard of him" type of writers. they've honestly been pretty fair all year. they havnt been heavy on just rating systems or just wins. they really seem to take in the big picture. with allen that's still a below average pass game but a run threat and clutch gene that tosses him in the mix of anywhere from between 14-20.
-
Seems a bit high. His raw stat line is quite impressive and I don’t think he had a ton of help out there. Regardless I think this is one of the most reasonable and level headed QB lists I’ve seen so far after the season. as far as Allen goes I think they get it pretty good. Right on that line of average to below average with that clutch gene and occasional wow play. I think next year that 10-14 range is a reasonable progression.

I saw this yesterday on nfl.com and was just to lazy to paste it over here. Pretty fair ranking I’d say. Those guys from 14-19 are all pretty interchangeable on any given gameday depending on who’s feeling it. a panel that actually looks at the whole picture for their rankings. What novel idea. Haha.

No reason for optimism that I can see. Barely a .500 squad made up senior citizens over the last 3 years ?..... or as another character in this thread decided to say a couple pages back, "the bills have obviously been much more lucky than good over the last 3 years" ?
