  1. But who do we classify as “impactful players” vs “role players”? I feel most would classify Von, Oliver, Edmunds, Milano, White, Poyer and Hyde as “impact players”. Is Taron Johnson an impact player? We needed a legit 1 tech.. is Daquan Jones an impact player? Both have decent contracts. Above role player level contracts, at least. The rest of the guys are on rookie contracts or prove it type deals.. I suppose that’s how you can make it work financially. Eventually though, you can’t have everyone being paid as impact players.. Even if they all are impact players. Perhaps it all works out with the cap exploding and Poyer/Hyde likely near the end by the time the young guys come due (if they’re worth it). All I ask is that there is money in the bank for Knox & Davis and that Allen is protected up front.
  2. If they’re going to extend him, I’d rather they do it before the season. If Edmunds was ever going to ball out, it would be behind this DL. Better to get ahead of the curve if he’s truly who they believe he is.
  3. I hope so.. would love for Stevenson to take WR7 and be that outside speed depth. In order, my hopes for WR6/7 go Stevenson then Austin then Kumerow... but I'll believe Kumerow isn't on the 53 when I see it. Sounds like Shakir has really impressed through the first two days of camp and seems to show the ability to play outside as well.
  4. I agree with a lot of this as well. Allen is money on those intermediate lasers.. instead of a 7 yard slant that the WR takes another 7-10 yards, Allen just throws a 15-20 yard frozen rope down the field. That definitely accounts for some of this. The issue I have is that we forget how stuck in the mud this team could get until we started running Josh. That needs to stop moving forward (playoffs aside). I think our coaches understand that and will address is on two fronts.. stronger run game and stronger YAC game. Part of that is Dorsey (hopefully) scheming up some short/easy throws into space as an extension of the run game. I believe we'll see a handful more runs from Singletary/Cook/Moss per game, but I truly believe/hope the short passing game to Cook, Crowder, McKenzie, perhaps Shakir etc., will be a bigger focus to take some of the stress off Allen's legs in the regular season. Come Playoff time, if we are more well rounded, and then we can simply run Allen because we want to.. this Offense will be absurd.
  5. Maybe we play KC at home if someone could catch the ball and not immediately fall down. Im being condescending, but notice how Mahomes, Rodgers and Burrow are on that list in the top 3 spots where our guy had no running game - either from a back or wr - unless the ball was in his hands. The fact Josh dealt with all that and still did everything in his power to be 13 seconds away from a likely Super Bowl appearance is a testament to him.
  6. Cook and Shakir were two YAC draft picks. Crowder and McKenzie give us more YAC ability than Beasley. More athletic line under Kromer likely lends itself to, at least attempting, more screen action.
  7. It’s a valid stat to point out. Yes, Allen can get better at short pass ball placement (which he’s working on).. However, it highlights - again - how Josh Allen dependent we were. Below average run game and dead last in YAC. That’s asking your QB to do way too much. Cook & Shakir were two YAC monsters in college so let’s hope they translate.
  8. I’m actually really interested in our rookies this year. -James Cook role -Terrel Bernard’s role -Can Shakir play outside or are we rockin with Diggs, Davis and an army of slot WR’s -Punt god Elam is a guy I just expect to be good, tbh, but the other 4 main guys are pretty intriguing.
  9. Its true that most teams aren’t 3 deep on the outside with stud talent, but most here aren’t concerned we don’t have a proven outside WR3.. Most are concerned that we have no outside WR3. Kumerow - Special Teams / Emergency Depth Crowder - Slot McKenzie - Slot Maybe Shakir projects outside?
  10. Re: Josh running.. Designed Josh runs should be reserved for "and goal" situations in the regular season only. Then unleash him in the playoffs. We signed Saffold, brought in Kromer, drafted YAC guys in Cook and Shakir. Get him easy throws as an extension of the run game and then designate Moss/Singletary for short yardage stuff. With the talent on this team, there is zero reason that we should be running Allen on zone read keepers in the open field in Week 12.
  11. A bigger, faster Gabriel Davis from last season is a #1 WR. Beane gonna to have to go full wizard mode to get these contracts done if all these dudes hit.
  12. 2 Preseason Games 18 Regular Season Games 2 Bye Weeks They can start the season first weekend of September, like College Football, and/or go deeper into February. Nobody cares about anything but football until March Madness anyway.
  13. Also found it interesting that LA offered him more than we did, but without the Year 3 guarantee. Of the three teams he was considering: LA offered the most money over 2 years BUF offered a 3rd year guarantee DAL was his preferred hometown destination, but couldn’t/wouldn’t match LA/BUF As we all know, the guaranteed money is what matters.
  14. I thought he’d make a good HC for a team in disarray that needs a good man to steer the ship. Unfortunately for Frazier, that’s tough to sell to the fanbase. It’s also tough to sell a defense that’s tops statistically, but never really flashed, and when given the chance to step up.. didn’t. In fact, did the opposite. They choked. That said.. This may be his best audition year ever. He has, on paper, an absolutely filthy defense on a team with plenty of publicity, prime time games and Super Bowl aspirations. We may not be the #1 Defense again - simply due to SOS, but this is a Defense that could bring the sizzle our previous defenses did not have. If Rousseau, Oliver and Edmunds make any kind of jump this year… I don’t see a better defense. Every single position has an above average to elite level talent, with rotational depth on top of it. The DL is young and/or under contract for a few years, White/Elam/Johnson/Jackson as well.. but who knows what the future holds for Poyer, Hyde, Edmunds and/or Milano.. If you want one last shot at a HC gig, Leslie… go get it. This is your year.
  15. If Von plays a season here and Beane/McDermott have to talk him into playing for us any further, then sure, I’d be concerned. That’s your scenario. Sealing the deal on a sales pitch is not the same thing.
  16. There's Free Agents and then there's "Von Miller Type" Free Agents. Buffalo being good, great owner, great facilities, rabid fanbase certainly seems to be helping us with normal FA's. Superstar FA's are always going to be a different deal. They have options and are typically choosing between multiple contenders all throwing big money at them. We have 4 legit superstars on this team right now. Allen, Diggs, Miller and White. Two were drafted, one was traded for and one came here as a FA. The three already in the building wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We are attracting good FA's and our star players don't want to leave, but going after superstar FA's is always going to be a different animal. Especially for teams in the north.
  17. I get how it can be annoying, but he has zero ties to Buffalo. Played his entire career in Denver. Was traded to LA. Hometown is Dallas. He has ties in all those places that Buffalo could never replicate. He's an honest guy, and I'm entirely confident that we'll hear similar stories from him down the line about how much Buffalo also means to him. We have guys like Stefon Diggs wanting to re-sign here. If a player loves football, Bills Mafia is the fanbase to rep, and Von loves football.
  18. Was not aware this season had already been played.
  19. The Bills roster is widely viewed as the best roster in the NFL because Beane has done a great job at putting "above-average/high-potential/reliable" talent everywhere, with depth, and yes.. most importantly.. with an elite QB. Elite Talent: Allen, Diggs, Miller, White Above Average Talent: Dawkins, Morse, Oliver, Edmunds, Milano, Johnson, Poyer, Hyde High Potential Talent: Brown, Bates, Cook, Davis, Rousseau, Elam Reliable Talent: Saffold, Singletary, Crowder, Jones Good (Rotation) Depth: Keenum, Howard, McKenzie, Quessenberry, Settle, Phillips, Jackson Then you look at the young guys I didn't mention.. Shakir, Hamlin, Bernard, Epenesa, Basham.. Juries still out on them. The OL depth is pretty good for in comparison to most NFL teams. Every group on this team is likely above average in comparison to other NFL teams. The depth is above average in comparison to other NFL teams. So when we say "Who has a better roster, Buffalo or Tennessee?".. QB is the main difference, but other notable differences are that they don't have a WR1.. they don't have the depth we have.. and they don't have above average talent or potential at almost every position on the roster. There are noticeable weaknesses to exploit on paper. On paper, Outside WR depth in the only glaring deficiency for the Bills.
  20. I'd agree that, while surprising, us trading Milano wouldn't be shocking. Could very well be that Edmunds hasn't been extended yet for accounting purposes and Bernard was drafted as a Milano replacement once he gets a year under his belt. Not sure it makes a ton of sense, in terms of asset allocation, to pay good money a Slot CB, MLB and OLB, while also spending a Day 2 pick on an OLB for a team that only has 3 of them on the field at a time. Caveat being the Bills saw the Bengals throw a 3-3-5 type defense at the Chiefs and said "we want to be able to do that with high talent players".
  21. I'm 100% keeping Moss. I'll trust Beane when he referenced him still dealing with the aftereffects of his injury last year. Moss looked good in his rookie year and I'd rather have him as an option in 2023 playing for a contract should Singletary walk. Epenesa.. this guy was viewed as a top 10 pick heading into his last year at Iowa. I'm certainly giving him this year, with Von and the other young guys, to try and make his mark. It takes EDGE rushers time to develop and Year 2/Year 3 is typically when it happens for them, if it's going to happen. Ford is definitely in a fight for a roster spot. I'd keep him because he showed legit talent at OU, but I'm not sure he fits Kromer's athletic profile. I have a ton of confidence in Aaron Kromer and will be fine with whoever he decides makes the cut.
  22. The only caveat I'd say here is that if we don't re-sign Edmunds, chances are high that we use our RD1 pick on a LB. Hopefully we're drafting at the back end of RD1, and that's a prime spot to snag a top tier Guard/Center prospect. I think we have a decent OL and nice weaponry around him this year, but I'd really like for the team to get him some high draft pick ammo next year.
  23. You're spaz-posting at someone who just said he doesn’t own a gun and is open to some forms of gun control. All because I stated we also need to look at other factors. Thank you for proving my point about those like you.
  24. When you refuse to address the myriad of other issues driving the gun violence epidemic, yes. I understand progressives have one track minds and can only focus on one thing at a time… Guns, Abortion, Ukraine Sometimes more nuance, discussion and innovation is needed to handle modern issues. We are a country awash with guns. Those who want them, can get them. They will always be able to get them. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make it harder for them.. but we clearly have a country ravaged in some corners by anger, hate, mental illness, depression and desperation. Do you believe we should not address any of that? Our culture is being destroyed from within. I’d rather not be lectured about violence from those who’s new rallying cry is demanding zero limitations on their perceived right to kill the most innocent amongst us.
  25. Two cops just shot in Philly during fireworks, plunging the festivities into chaos. I don’t even know what the answer is… I don’t own a gun, and am reluctantly open to some gun control, but this is clearly much deeper than that .. until the obsessively ridiculous “ban guns” crowd decides to look more inward as to what we have become, and are further becoming as a culture, nothing will change. This is societal decay.
