Dolphins expected to go with Fitzpatrick as the starter
Locomark replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The worst thing the Phins could do to Tua would have been to let him start his career with no preseason and have starts against the Pats and Bills. By the way anyone notice how short Tua looks? He isn’t 6 foot...he’s getting Flutie bonus inches... -
Melvin Ingram III trade scenarios - Bills mentioned

No to a guy who will mess up our chemistry in a position that we aren’t desperate to fill. -
This. it’s not that it can’t be outlined and setup. The reality is sooner, not later, one open stadium will create an outbreak and the whole league will start talking about a mandate back to zero. I can truly see the ability to be locale to locale based on the wide variety of virus variance by locations but as we have seen some states that had hardly any cases now have a ton. The Buffalo region has so few cases right now that I think we are a good candidate for limited fans. I surmise we won’t get past 2-4 weeks before some stadium has a major outbreak and it is mandated back to zero across the NFL. It’s inevitable because people will not stand by the distancing and mask rules in those numbers and will be partying outside no matter what you do. So even with restrictions people will blow them off and there will be mass cases. It’s a tough call because each team needs to maximize revenue yet it’s an unfair advantage for some teams to have real fans in the stands. I still think the NFL should have the madden people use the sounds from their game and controlled decibel levels to simulate equal home situations (like the NHL playoffs is doing) for all stadiums but we still know that will lead the teams like the Pats to cheat somehow.

Newton vs Allen and Pats vs Bills
Locomark replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually don’t feel Cam Newton is a better passer than Josh. He is so far removed from his high level of play days. He is a middling QB and is on the downward trajectory of his career. Josh is on the upward trajectory of his career. The Pats will be an easy out because they do not have the depth necessary to deal with injuries due to all the opt outs. The fact we don’t play them until mid season hurts them and helps us. By then there will be injuries and covid cases and we are the deeper team by far.. The Pats will be lucky to finish ahead of the Phins this year. Cam is getting much more love than he deserves because teams will double Edelman and make Cam beat them over the middle or on the ground. Teams will stack the box and make Cam air it out. They are not built for that. -
He would have to fall off a cliff for this to be a “ break year “ and to go out and invest in another QB. He had significantly less playing time in college than both Mahomes and Jackson. Add that to the weak conference he was in and that reality is he is 1 year developmentally behind the others. So I think he does have an opportunity to grow more than your typical 3rd year guy. I think part of that is the homer In me but part of it is the logic of what I noticed over every 4 game increment over the last few years. Add the stability of the players and system from last year and I think he grows a lot this year. Next year he will be expected to be a full blown no mistake high effective QB. I fully expect 63% completion rate this year and an improved QBR. I think his Achilles heal last year. that no one is talking about, is the high amount of penalties on offense and the fact that we were often in long down and distance situations which is always bad for QB effectiveness. Fix that and we have ourselves better play balance, better completion %, and more points conceptually.

I think this is all probable but I don’t think that KC repeats. I think they are too cocky and I really am not a believer that they are good enough in the trenches to repeat. -
In general I don’t believe in Billsy, Bills bad luck, jinxed, etc. You make your own luck. Our management sucked for decades and therefore so did our team. Now we have a good team and we will make our own good luck. What happened 30 years ago doesn’t affect players that weren’t even born then, it’s just in our heads not theirs. They just know we win in Buffalo. So let’s get them in the mindset that we not only get to the playoffs but we contend for the Super Bowl every year. This year we can contend for a Super Bowl. It’s a reality once again and that is exciting!

Bills coaches called Joe Gibbs for advice
Locomark replied to nucci's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what good organizations and leaders do. They seek many solid opinions and inputs from other qualified leaders to help them formulate the best plan. Arrogant leaders think they know it all and don’t do this. They ultimately get caught making poor decisions because they surround themselves with yes people who just nod and confirm they know everything. Meanwhile their competition continues to learn and evolve and eventually surpasses them. Its the old “two heads are better than one” saying. -

Aerosmith’s Dude looks like a lady just plays in my head anytime I see him... -
The reason this is important is because the Pegulas are now realizing how different a franchise can be with truly great management. Their Bills (Great) and Sabres (horrible) experiences have shown them that. So I think they understand you can’t get into contract years with high performing management or you may lose them, just like players. Good job on McD.
-
So Doc, don’t you think Bass has to outright out perform H in practice to win this thing? We know Bass has a bigger leg but I think a tie goes to Hauschka 100% of the time just because he is a known commodity and we can stuff Bass on the practice squad. The question is what are the odds that Bass comes in and truly outperforms Hauschka in practice daily? This is why I hate having no eyes on practice.
-
I really think they need to keep one and keep the other in the PS no matter who wins the role. We saw last year the Hauschka had distance issues but we also know that a rookie kicker could be erratic or he could make a huge difference by booting 57 yarders. This seems to me to be the most likely because this season is at such a turning point in the franchise. Bass stays as insurance and is protected every week.

Gunner's roster thread.... 2020 style - UPDATED
Locomark replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like this above. Plus if this wasn’t a covid year I would question DiMarco making it. I still think if he is forced to miss time due to covid and that kid FB is on the practice squad comes in and does anything at all that DiMarco is toast. -
Hard Knocks: LA - Premiers tonight 8/11

Call me a cynic but I wasn’t very impressed with Anthony Lynn. Seems like a nice guy but I didn’t see the big leader/motivator personality on episode 1. HC usually jump off the screen and he didn’t for me yet..we’ll see as the series progresses. -
It Kittle doesn’t get at least 14-15.5 million he should walk. The TE market has barely changed it’s high end price tag over the last decade while receivers have skyrocketed. He is clearly the best TE on the planet. I don’t even view Kelce as able to hold his jock strap in terms of overall game. Kittle Is also special because he makes game changing plays. Every game comes down to 4-5 key big plays. Kittle is going to give you 2 of those a game and that is worth the $ because it’s worth a few W’s each year.

So basically Jerry just said he will do whatever the politicians say they have to do. So the “hell yeah” crowd love him because they think he is a rebel. In reality he knows he is talking with zero control or accountability because if the governor or mayors say no he has no choice but to comply anyway. He just wants to act like he is in control . Why would anyone think Jerry Jones could tell his state elected officials that he will defy their mandates? He can’t. He’s just walking around like a peacock because he wants to be important.

Had to work a super long day today but had a giant smile on my face after hearing about Coach McD. Just love his enthusiasm. I would love for him to be our new Marv and end up being that living legend coach than can lead us through 10-15 years of success. I know the odds are always against that but the optimist in me says he has the tools to at least get us to 2 Super Bowls. His main barrier is he needs to work on his game management skills. His decisions can win or lose us a championship, now that we have this level of depth of talent. So he needs to step up and show that on game day consistently. It will get real interesting if you inject a kid kicker that consistently hits 58 yarders also.

Doesn’t anyone find it odd that not a single Center or QB opted out? Considering they touch the ball and each other on every play. That object also will be having many of the skill players, refs, dee players, and ball boys touching it. I know objects can carry the virus if it gets any mucus and breath on it so I was just wondering if they will be trying to sterilize the balls in some way by frequently swapping them in and out and UVing them or something.
