If Hopkins becomes available, would you want Beane to trade for him?
BigDingus replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's not expensive at all if you think you're a genuine contender & can make a legit SB run. Can't always look to setting up future years when you still haven't won anything yet. The Chiefs have the luxury of resting on their laurels if they want. There's no sense of urgency outside of just legacy. The Bills are now 7 years into Allen's career & haven't even made a SB. If $7 million can help push us to that point, who cares if it's a rental & he won't stick around next year? If we make or win a SB, it worked out perfectly. -

I know this is kinda meant as a joke, but I'd seriously consider this. We could always use another good WR, but thr Chiefs REALLY could use one right about now. Kelce isn't playing well (probably waiting until he plays us again), Hollywood Brown is injured, and only Rashee Rice has really come out strong. I'm sure they'd love to get Hopkins... but I don't want then to have the chance! -
Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread
BigDingus replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm waiting on this game to determine whether or not these Bills are actually different. We've seen the Bills kick ass through September nearly every year since 2020, often with blowout wins against inferior opponents. Thankfully, this game is still in September, so maybe we'll have just enough juice to make it 4-0. But the Ravens run the ball extremely well while not allowing anyone to run against them. Unless we can somehow be the first team to rush the ball successfully, it'll require Josh heroics again. The biggest difference to this year's start is the lack of turnovers committed by our offense. If that continues in Baltimore, we should win. If the INTs start showing up, it'll feel like the same ol' Bills. Problem is that even if we win, people will get louder with the "they haven't played any good teams!" narrative. Baltimore will drop to 1-3, which makes them look like a "bad" team. Then we have to go on the road to face Diggs & Co... As much as people will want to downplay that game, it's going to get a LOT of coverage. There will be a lot of "told ya so's" going on depending on who wins. I really need to see the Bills come away 2-1 to think this season is truly going to be special. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FOOTBALL DEITIES, BLESS US IN OUR COMING GAMES! -
JA - Week 3’s AFC Offensive Player of the Week

To be fair, if the Bills win the Super Bowl this year - it can only mean Mack Hollins was the answer. No shoes, no problem. -
Von Miller proves the doubters wrong

What happened to it? I saw that I had 4 notifications regarding that thread, and couldn't figure out why it was saying I didn't have permission to view it. Did it just get deleted or something? -
Random talking head says something about the Bills
BigDingus replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I totally agree, though I do enjoy some of the theatrics on First Thing's First, which is the reason I still keep watching. If you want to see him outside that setting, he has a talk show/podcast with another guy & posts videos on YouTube where they talk about a few subjects around the league each episode. He's way more measured in his takes, and you're 100% accurate in describing how much research he does & how much data he brings along to conversations. It's why despite his reputation for Bills hate, he was saying early this summer that he ranks Josh ahead of Lamar despite the 2 x MVPs. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills
BigDingus replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Since I know anything with Nick Wright will be moved here, I'll just post it here for yall to watch. This is the first time ever I've heard him be DEAD SERIOUS about praising the Bills, even going so far as to say - "I would like to amend what I said yesterday - that there's only 1 good team in the league. I think there's two. It's not an overreaction to say the Bills look like one of the two best teams in the league. It's not an overreaction to say they have the 2nd best QB in football. And much like when the Chiefs traded away Tyreek Hill, coming off back-to-back devastating playoff losses (blowout in the Super-Bowl, heart-breaker to Cincinnati) and the Bills trade away Stefon Diggs, coming off getting blown out by the Bengals & a heart-breaker to Kansas City, sometimes a great player at that position can raise the water of everyone else." Such character growth! 😂 -
And a very tough test at that. Derrick Henry sure picked a bad time to start getting on track. The Bills are pretty small on the defensive side of the ball, and that run game is going to be a huge challenge. Thankfully, smaller, quick guys should help against Lamar's scrambling abilities, but that will require them to play very disciplined. The Ravens also give up the least rushing yards per game, by a LOT. Teams only average 50 rush yards per game against them, with 2nd place being the Vikings at 71.3. Only 7 other teams give up less than 100 rush yards per game, so that just tells you how dominant their D has been stopping the run. On the flip side, they're dead last in how many pass yards they give up per game, though that may partially be because teams abandon the run after seeing zero success.

You're Welcome - what did you do to help tonight?
BigDingus replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
*You're Oh, and I was only able to watch intermittently. Every time I stopped watching, the Bills scored again. Whenever I was able to bring the game back up, the Jags were driving. At this rate, I won't be able to watch a single Bills game this year, or I'll just curse them! -
Josh Allen vs Patrick Mahomes: The changing of the guard?
BigDingus replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
No changing of the guard yet. The Bills have always had good starts in September, so the doubters won't be so ready to anoint him above Mahomes. This upcoming 3 game road stretch will determine Josh's MVP candidacy. Ravens Texans Jets All on the road, all AFC rivals, all have media members predicting them as Super Bowl reps. If Allen plays well during this stretch & the Bills can go 2-1, he'll be the MVP favorite. If the Bills lose 2 or 3 of those games & Allen turns the ball over a bunch, he will be on the outside looking in. -

Woohoo! What a game! I said it in a couple threads, I thought this would resemble when we finally exorcised our demons by beating the Titans on MNF (after losing to them the prior 2 seasons). Lost to the Jags the last 2 times, now get our revenge on MNF in a similar blowout! I predicted 34 to 16, but this was even better! Then again, I also posted last night that I was still worried, but I'm an idiot so... GO BILLS!

0-3 Bengals... Including losses to the Patriots and Commanders! That's awful.

It got up to 90+ in Plano/Frisco today!

Bills vs Jags Game Week Thread - MNF
BigDingus replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I feel like this game has so many red flags, and it's driving me crazy! 1) Allen has played very poorly on MNF the last few years (especially last year). He's 3-5 overall, but only 1 - 4 since 2021. That includes his 2 worst games last year: - 4 turnover game against the Jets (62.7 rtg) - 3 turnover game against the Broncos (59.3 rtg) 2) Allen has played OK vs the Jags, but not great overall (4 turnovers the last 2 games vs 3 TDs) 3) Jags have beaten us the last 2 times we've played, including during their awful Urban Meyer year. 4) The Jags are 0-2 and desperate. They NEED the win & can't afford to drop to 0-3. 5) They actually have a pretty good defense. They're tied with the Bills for 9th fewest points per game (and our opponents share the same overall record - as we've both played Miami + a 1-2 team). 6) I'm a whiny baby & have a bad habit of overthinking things! 😭 That being said, I'm still sticking with the Bills winning 34 - 16! -
Tbf... If I was Tom Brady, I'd also feel weird taking plays from Byron Leftwich. I'm sure someone else in these 5 pages said something similar, but imagine being as successful as Brady, then having Leftwich try coaching you. He probably didn't have that kind of respect for him, so I believe Mayfield on that.

Exactly. I think the Chiefs of old aren't coming back (for the most part). They're all about small ball, dinking & dunking. When Mahomes throws downfield, they're turning it over more often than in the past. But last year he was also turning it over more than ever, only this time without the TDs to go along with the turnovers. Didn't matter in the end. They still won the SB.
-
True, though I meant more in that they weren't hurting themselves anymore & they got key players involved again. Kelce suddenly looked like old Kelce, and Rashee Rice looked like a veteran. Mahomes stopped throwing INTs almost altogether, and they didn't have the drops or costly penalties they had throughout the season. They lacked the big-play explosiveness of old Chiefs teams, but they had been moving away from that for a while. Even with Worthy & Brown, I still expect to see a lot of passes behind the LOS & short passes trying to get guys in open space (kind of like what we're doing now). It seems like most teams are aiming for something like that, as defenses around the league are playing to keep everything in front of them & not get beat over the top. The Chiefs can keep struggling all year, but come playoff time, I don't expect that to continue. The worst they've ever finished in the Mahomes era is the AFCCG. That's absolutely crazy. Until I see otherwise, I expect them to make it that far again, and I'm just hoping the Bills will be healthier the next time we meet in the playoffs.
-
100% agree. And as they've shown every year, even when they're not playing well, they still win anyway. Even if I see Mahomes throw multiple INTs every week, I'm not passing judgement until it starts to dramatically affect their record. They're reminding me of the early 2000's Lakers, showing signs of rust or weakness during the season, then playoffs come around & they hit a different gear.
-
Mahomes doesn't run often, but he seriously one of the most shifty, smart QBs when running. DEs just nearly get him, then he slips away & breaks off a 15 yard run. It's so damn annoying!

If you're in the Dallas area, I've got a few young cats you could pick from! My mom rescues cats & gives them to her teacher coworkers, but asked that I watch one of them at my place. 2 weeks later I come home & there's 4 newborn kittens in my damn closet! That cat was pregnant, but nobody knew because she was rail thin & only about a year old herself. Well the vet said can't separate the kittens from the mom for 7 weeks, so we raised them at my house. Got 2 of them adopted, but 2 are still here. And that's not including the 1 cat I already owned (similar story, wife left & I got stuck with 1 dog & 1 cat) or the mom. They're super sweet & absolutely adore each other, so I've been hesitant to let them go unless someone can adopt both together. Soooo, whatcha think? 😁

I was thinking the same thing. We saw him struggle nearly all last season, then playoffs happened & everything suddenly started clicking. It's extremely irritating 😒
