  1. He took Mahomes over Watson and Newton over Gabbert (which was actually thing back in that draft). It is def a possibility. Allen has made more NFL throws than Darnold this past year. Darnold led the NCAA in turnovers. Allen's Oregon and Iowa games are on par with Darnold's performance vs Ohio St. They are much closer than some talking heads would have you believe. I 100% believe Allen is in consideration and wont be surprised that he goes 1. If both guys reach their potential who end up being better? Do I think Darnold has a higher probability of being successful? I do but I also see Allen as a bit of a unicorn who with proper coaching could be special. Ive said this for a while now. Do not forget how arrogant coaches are. They all believe they are the best and will be able to get all that potential out of him. Yes, to stash a guy and let them learn, possibly developing to a future replacement or trade-able asset. However, that is not the first place you go to find a starter. That is what you do after you have one. right now Buffalo does not have one. Even Russell Wilson wasn't suppose to start. Seatlle gave Flynn a massive deal and expected him to be the starter.
  2. If the QB position improves from last year to this year yes.
  3. Who does Cleveland have to smoke out? They pick one. The reason the first picks usually gets leaked because they have no one to deceive. Once they figure out who they want at 1 they move onto to 4 where that is a position they would leak mis-information.
  4. In the age of spread offenses, o step drops, and quick screens, Allen played his college career without any of that. Allen is obviously a risk. If he is able to sit and develop he can be special. Cleveland traded for Taylor so they can compete this year. Whoever they pick will have a difficult time beating out Taylor because of everything he bring to the team. Allen has made the most pro level throws and has the most impressive tape than any other prospects. He makes 3 to 4 throws a game only 1 or 2 Qbs in the NFL could make. That is what is going to get him drafted and early. The NFL is filled with cocky/ arrogant coaches and they all believe they are the guys who can get all that potential out of him. For Allen this is where having an agent paid off. Without getting coached by a team he already started working on his inconsistencies that lead to inaccuracy. Apparently, he is a smart kid who knows football and killed the interviews. Reason I bring up the agents and off the field stuff with him is because I believe Allen and Jackson have the most potential. Seems like Allen is willing and listening to the right people that are putting him in position to reach his potential. With Jackson I am highly concerned. If he went to a combine prep academy and hitched onto a QB guru to fix some of his short coming he would have the hype of Allen but with superior production. He would have been a no doubter. The only things about Jackson since Christmas has been negative. Any Qb or first rd pick is risky. Picking #1 who has the most ability to become great? Allen is in that conversation.
  5. Jackson turned himself into an enigma. If he was in consideration in January I dont believe he is the preferred option at this point. Since the combine they traded Taylor for a third and moved up to 12. They signed AJ McCarron to a modest deal. Looks like a prove it deal more likley a back up deal. So they are left with him and Nate as the only Qbs. No other team in the NFL has as large of a glarring need for a Qb. I assume they target the most pro ready which is Rosen, possibly Darnold.
  6. Both are cocky, short, white Qbs from Texas. Both made news by getting into trouble at another University before there final seasons. Both played in a spread offense and would run around to make plays. Neither tested out as premier athletes. Manziel in the end had an addiction problem. That was accelerated by not being able to start for a poor football team. Mayfield has good qualities but ingoring the similarities to Manziel is not wise either.
  7. I cannot see a scenerio where NYG stays at 2 for anything other than qb. Is Barkley better 3 other first rd picks for a team with a lot of holes? 12 and 22 they can get oline and which ever rb they rate 2. I think Darnold is who Buffalo rates 1. Hes there at 2 Buffalo and NYG trade. I dont see Buffalo risking the Qb they covet going to the Jets.
  8. I like Rosen and think he can walk in and be the starter day 1. I think Gettlman and Beane will have the Qbs broken down in a similar fashion. NYG may just be leveraging Buffalo to pull the trigger.
  9. You would need to read the whole interview about his feelings toward big time college athletics. Its been discussed. You disagree with his assessment of big time college athletics. I tend to agree with him and have no problem about what he said.
  10. I have not played top collegiate football or basketball so I can only go off a player who has lived it. His perception and experience is more viable and relevant to me than a SEC media guide. Multi Billion dollar business model artificially design to keep the money in the pockets of a few over the individuals that create the product themselves. Ballsy for a 21 year old to throw some shade at it. An entitled rich kid doesn't show empathy for less fortunate teammates. Being smart is not red flag to me.
  11. Those Qbs highlighted were not expected to play early or compete for the starting position. Buffalo has a 5th rder who played horrible his rookie year and a career back up. Any qb drafted will be the most talented QB on the roster and expected to play early. Extremely risky and probably stupid to assume you are smarter than 32 other franchises to rate a 6-10 rated QB in this class a franchise Qb.
  12. He was using himself as an example but Rosen was talking to the larger picture of college athletes. At major programs he feels that the players are steered to take easier course loads to ensure eligibility over taking classes that challenge them mentally. He than again used an issue he faced that with his athletic obligations there were programs and majors he was not eligible for. With that kind of institutional control its naive to then hide behind its all about receiving a higher learning when the majority of the time it is not. There are outliers in every school. That players had a goal going in and wanted to obtain a higher learning. The point is not to look at the high achievers, its to look at the median . The majority of the players are not pushed to achieve more, they are pushed to stay eligible.
  13. Why? College success does not correlate to NFL success. Who improves the most over the next 5 years? Who is best equipped to handle adversity and who ends up in a good situation. For all the emphasis on the Qb position in the NFL and it is important., a Qb is just 1 out of 11 on offense and 1 out of 46 of players on the roster game day. Qb's going to poorly run teams will fare poorly for the most part. Not attacking the position aggressively as you attack other positions is more risky than worrying about a pick failing.
  14. I read the moves starting in TC through the season and this off-season all points to Buffalo selecting a Qb in rd 1. They are going to hitch their wagons to a prospect they feel is going to be the cornerstone of the franchise. Do they move to 2 or 4 for that player? More and more I expect Buffalo to go to 2 jump the Jets and get their guy. They just want to ensure their guy is available at 2.
  15. Rudolph has very good deep accuracy. The arm strength concern with Rudulph is not a matter of how far he can throw it, but how much velocity he can put on a ball. Rudulph's largest issue is the lack of outside breaking route accuracy. There are not many throws he makes outside the numbers inside 20 yards. Those are the bread and butter throws in the NFL.
  16. Lamar Jackson is drafted before Mayfield. Buffalo drafts a running back with their second pick.
  17. Imo Buffalo will look to move half of the their top 6 picks and both 1's for a QB. For their #1 Qb they will add a pick in 2019 probably there 1st rd pick. The glaring holes on the team are QB, LB and deep threat Wr. Making a trade that is 12-22-53-65 2019 1st and swaping of mid rders still leaves Buffalo with top 5, 53 and a third. Buffalo selects Qb LB and Wr and Buffalo has filled their holes while having mid rd picks to add depth. This is the best outcome. They would get a QB they believe is a Franchise Qb the first one since Jim Kelly when the USFL crumbled.
  18. Picking Allen in the top 10 comes down to arrogance. Coaches and GM's in the NFL reek of it. Every one here without much argument can agree he is the most naturally gifted Qb in the draft in term of arm and his size and speed. If you take the top 20 throws from every top qb prospect which one of the prospects would show off the most pro level throws out of that 20? That would be Allen as well. So he is the more naturally gifted guy, you have tape of him doing exactly what you need him to do in the NFL. It comes down to coaching and the offensive staff to make sure his does those 20 throws every time. If you cant do that what are your doing? That is where the arrogance comes in. To a man I do not believe an offensive mind or coach would shy away of wanting Allen as his QB. Your job is to coach offensive football. the guy who can make every throw and also buy time if the play breaks down, and can throw it over the saftey is all things that would make a team take a very hard look at Allen. He is not the safest Qb but I think Gms will bet on talent more than anything else.
  19. This draft has 5 legitimate first rd qbs. Every year they inflate some QBs to create more ratings and interest because they need to manufacturer stories for their broadcasts. That makes it difficult to find what former classes were graded and how the current class rates. NFL executives are comparing this draft to previous and future ones. Allen is getting drafted in the top 5 because he has an arm like Rodgers and Stafford with the size of Big ben and Cam.
  20. With more college prospects entering the draft earlier to get to their second contracts earlier it is difficult to use any of the old qualifiers. Parcel's 10 keys, Qbase and this correlates to more playing time and 3 or 4 year starters. This class has more quality QB prospects than most drafts. Drafts are graded in there year and previous ones are always looked upon more fondly in terms of players rating and perception is normally 20/20. This year is also a fantastic and interesting contrast in scouting. Traditional vs analytics. The traditional guy Allen and the analytics guy being Mayfield. The success of either doesn't discredit the other method but it will be an interesting draft and season.
  21. I would rather watch a legit Qb prospect playing Qb in Buffalo for first time in 3 decades than a good Mike or Will and a DT. Why do you need those extra picks when adequate vetran players can fill needs like your point on Wrs? By moving up they will have a full compliment of picks by also grabbing a qb in a position they would not have been able to otherwise. Seems like a win, win.
  22. I think Rosen is the best to start off the bat. By bringing in Mccarron for backup money I would like to believe they are confident they get a Qb thats competing to start week 1. If that is Rosen, that remains to be seen.
  23. True that is the time of year. Idk who they want. You do not have to be Mike Mayock to determine with Aj Mcarron and Nate Peteman on the roster Buffalo is drafting a Qb. Imo thats been made loud and clear by their actions. Reguardless who they want and where, it seems unlikley a Qb will fall to 12 because everyone assumes they want a qb. So if you pick after 12 you know you need to move past them to get them.
