Trade Lawson and a 2020 draft pick for Clowney?
billspro replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We would be missing out on a strong WR class next year if we did that. 9 sacks can be found a lot cheaper, I think Clowney has reached his full potential, I would not expect more than that. -
Didnt he say Oliver was his draft crush this year?
-
Maybe go listen to his interview.

He can block he just can’t keep OT weight on He blocked well at Oregon, he is just not big enough to be an NFL OT.
-
Really? He played OT in the NFL, he can block.
-
That’s just silly because he attempts a lot of vertical throws. I do think he will hit 60% this year though. I also think he has a shot to lead the league in pass completions 15+ yards down field.

Roll call for those betting over 6.5 wins

The only way we don’t get 7 wins is if we get hit hard by the injury bug. -
I think you are underrating the roster a little bit. There is some projection though with the young guys. The bottom line is it is all about Allen, if he is legit this will be a 10 win team. We have two blue chip guys (White and Morse), a bunch of really good starters (Hyde, Poyer, Hughes, Alexander, McCoy, and Brown), some young guys with potential to be blue chip guys (Allen, Edmunds, Oliver), and some young guys who could be really good starters (Wallace, Foster, Ford, Dawkins, Knox, Singletary). This team doesn't have a hole on the roster and has good depth throughout, that goes a long way in the NFL with the amount of injuries each team faces. Less than 10 wins would be dissappointing this year with this group imo.

I agree, we would also have a win against the Steelers. I have a Steelers friend and they have gotten the best of us for over a decade.

I think that is more of a myth. His velocity was fine on short passes. He does need to work on his ball placement a bit.

Lawson's 5th yr option ($9.451M) declined & Ziggy update

I think Shaq is going to be a very solid player for us but he is worth half that. -
I don’t know what he was expecting. That QB and oline were terrible, they were all out on the run every play. You could put Zeke Elliot back there and he wouldn’t do anything either. i typically don’t bother with those tapes, you won’t win 1 on 11. It’s similar to the Allen tapes vs Iowa and Nebraska. The team is so overmatched that you can’t even evaluate the player, just toss this tapes and find more even competition to see what they can do.

Looked like McCoy behind our line last year. I think he has a chance to be an RB1. I’m excited to watch him play.

Seems like there is a philosophy change in the NFL. Teams would rather have route runners than big guys or athletes. It makes sense because there have been so many first round WR busts lately.

Brandon Beane WGR interviews 4/29

I would too if DK didn’t have the neck injury. Those can become serious fast. Singletary and Knox will not be good players for us, I’m happy to have them. Ceedee Lamb is amazing, I would be so happy if he was a Buffalo Bill. I thought he was better than Hollywood Brown last year. -
Hopefully he can be on the PS and be our backup slot if Beasley gets injured.

These are tough to do. There are the top three teams, then 4-10 are pretty close, and 10-25 are pretty close. It would almost be better to do a grading system than a ranking system.

I have been watching a lot of him the last few days. His vision and balance is outstanding. That can carry you for a long time in the NFL (see Fred Jackson). -

I think the TE position will be fine, but I am also very high on Dawson Knox. He has great size, good hands, and off the charts athletic ability. He is still fairly new at the position because he used to play QB but I would not be surprised if he was the steal of the third round. Kroft is a decent all around TE, Croom is a decent WR, and we should have one of the best blocking TEs in the league with Fisher. Sweeney is a great blocker as well and will be on the PS. The TE position will be a bit of a committee until Knox is developed into our TE1. That will probably not be until year 2 or 3.
