  1. At 5-4 (6th seed in the playoffs) heading into one of the more winnable games left on our schedule our detail-oriented head coach decided this was the game we had to start evaluating Peterman for next year. At halftime, down 33, with the game out of reach, he decided to put Tyrod back in and not continue evaluating Peterman. Now in his postgame conference he needs to evaluate film before figuring out who our QB is next week? He really needs to see the film to know how Peterman played today? If he needs to see more of Peterman (After posting the worst statistical performance by an NFL QB ever they were saying on WGR today) why did he pull him at halftime? I don't understand. They won't try to tank (they kept McCoy / Williams / Alexander) The AFC is so bad this year the playoffs actually were in reach and we're not trying to get there. It's like they are trying for 7-9... Realistically what is the earliest Beane/Mcdermott could be let go? End of next season? (I do not trust the process..)
  2. I'm officially done with this HC/GM combo. I have no faith whatsoever in either anymore and believe they will go down as one of the worst front offices in Bills history when all is said and done. I'd love to be wrong and will still support & root for the team as always regardless but I do not believe we will see another .500+ season until both the current HC and GM are fired (which might be years away) First they completely decimate a near -playoff caliber roster. (In a year where the AFC is SO bad this year, even Rex Ryan leading last year's team could have probably snuck the Bills into the 6th seed this year!) They trade/get rid of most of our talented young players and replace them with aging vets, get rid of our best WR right before the season starts, get rid of Dareus for a 6th mid-season turning our run defense from a strength to a weakness, and now they are benching the starting QB on a 5-4 team (a team that is healthy for the first time since the start of the year) heading into a game that we NEED to win. (two days after saying Tyrod is the starting QB) They don't appear to have any plan at all and don't appear to know what they are doing. I'm not super high or low on TT and if this announcement came in two weeks when the team was 5-6 I'd even support it... (Or if this was the first or even second controversial decision they'd made this year I would wait before commenting) But a MID-WEEK!! switch to a rookie QB (two days after saying the exact opposite, which gives what message to the other players on the team?) while the team has a winning record going into a game with the playoffs on the line? WTF!! Completely done with "The Process"....
  3. If they beat SD next week they are still very much in the playoff race, but only because the rest of the AFC is so bad this year. If they lose against SD, at that point I'm hoping they lose the rest and finish 5-11 with a high draft pick. Unfortunately with IND/MIA/MIA still on the schedule, 7-9 or 8-8 is looking more and more likely every week.
  4. At this point? Maybe Hyde, Clay, Gaines, Dawkins? Not sure I see anyone else on this roster worth building a team around.
  5. Browns, 49ers, Bears, Dolphins, Colts are all easily worse than us right now. I'm sure there are a few others. As others have already mentioned the Bills biggest problem is they are never near the top OR bottom of the league. Perpetually stuck between 6-10 & 9-7....
  6. You can't replace Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Marcel Dareus, Gilmore, Darby, Gillislee, Seymour, Ragland, Robey, & Zach Brown in one off-season. And even if you are going to try, players like Humber/Holmes/Thorton/Washington are not adequate replacements. My best guess since seeing Beane make these moves is that this is going to end up being a 4-5 year rebuilding process in the end. The front office has dumped most of the young talent on the team while at the same time barely putting us middle of the pack salary cap wise by paying a combined $26mil/year to McCoy/KW/Incognito/Alexander who if we were going to blow up the roster anyway should have also been let go during an obvious rebuilding year since none of them will be here by the time the team is ready to compete. Instead our team got worse AND older at the same time. I'm not convinced Beane knows what he's doing, but assuming he has some master plan, the only way I see this working out well is: 2017: build character / lean on vets to instill team work ethic. 2018: tank begins in full / fix salary cap (we won't be drafting high enough to get our franchise QB now, and don't have the team around him if we get one) 2019: start rebuild with what should be a high draft pick and lots of cap space 2020: add missing pieces to build off of 2019 season 2021: hopefully compete for playoff spot. if they'd cut the older vets either instead of or in addition to the younger playmakers they could have shaved a couple years off of this plan by drafting earlier and adding another $26mil in cap space heading into next year, but I guess the front office felt it was more important to compete for 8-8 this year than to just rip the band-aid off all at once. If this isn't the plan, I can't figure out what Beane is doing. I've never seen a team go through a rebuild where all the most talented 23-27 year old players are cut/traded and all the 30-35 year old vets make the team and/or get new contracts. In the meantime I'm trying to stay positive at 5-4 but that's tough at the moment. When you look at this roster it looks bad just about everywhere..
  7. I'd rather have a D-line that gives up less than 300/yards per game rushing than the 6th round pick and $2mil in cap savings we get next year from cutting Dareus. Even if that would've meant some sort of dead cap hit in 2019. But that's why I just watch the games and Beane gets paid the big $$ to make the games unwatchable..
  8. I think over the next two years they need: QB? (I don't dislike Tyrod as much as some on here but not sure he's the long term answer) RB1, RB2 (I don't think Shady is someone you build a team around at this point in his career, he's about to be on the wrong side of 30, and we have no one behind him) WR (looks better on paper than it did a few weeks ago.. still think we need one more) LG (Richie is a beast but is already going to be 35 before next year starts), RG, RT DE (no pass rush from the left side) DT x2 LB x2 CB (need one more) I'm not sure how I'd rank them but OL and DL would both be really high on the list.
  9. As much as I hate to see the Pats get even marginally better, it'd be pretty great if he signed with NE.
  10. I hope the Bills don't trade Glenn. (You don't typically get better by trading away franchise LTs) But the Giants are 1-6... if they offered up a 1st round pick (which could end up being really high in the 1st round) I think I'd take it. (If Seattle offered a 1st I'd say no. And if any team offered a 2nd that wouldn't be nearly enough)
  11. Thanks. So the Bills only save $5.7mil against the cap this year, $2.3mil against the cap next year, but also wipe out ~7-8mil in what would have been dead cap space if they'd kept him for two years and cut him before the 2019 season? Do I have that correct now or still mistaken?
  12. I'm not saying this isn't correct (I honestly don't know) but has this been reported anywhere? Dareus's contract is kind of weird in that all but 2.3mil of his 2018 salary has already been guaranteed and the guaranteed money usually stays with the team that is trading the player. (Which I think is what Rodak and Spotrac are reporting at the moment when they say the Bills are only clearing 2.3mli in cap space next year) If all of Dareus's 2018 base salary goes with him I still don't like the trade but it makes it much easier to understand.
  13. I really hope there's some part to this that everyone who has reported on it so far is getting wrong. (Jax is on the hook for the 2018 guaranteed portion of Dareus's salary or something) If we really traded a 2x probowl DT (within the AFC to a wildcard competitor) to save $7mil over 2 years and gain a 6th round pick I don't know what to say. We could have saved more money cutting Dimarco/Ducasse.
  14. I don't know if it's an option now depending on how long Matthews' injury keeps him out, but I'd bench Jones for now. He's hurting the team and he's not ready to start yet. Hopefully he gets better, but I don't think he should be on the field right now.
  15. Hopefully this means Dareus/Worthy are getting healthier. Not sure if this means the team will sign someone or not. They have to make two spaces by next week for Powell & Henderson, correct?
  16. Peace out! Please don't come back..
  17. Gaines has looked really good so far. Through 3 games I think he looks like the best player in the secondary. At the time of the trade I got the feeling that Gaines was going to be a one year rental, but I hope they sign him long-term. The sooner the better.
  18. So you have no idea what the protests are about, you just know you are deeply, deeply offended? Glad to see you took the time to educate yourself on something you have such loud opinions about. How did you enjoy rooting for the Broncos today? Were you satisfied with the number of injuries today or were you rooting for more? (And what else does this individual need to say before he gets an infraction for trolling?)
  19. Because your president told you to. He said " if you see it, even if it’s one player, leave the stadium, I guarantee things will stop. Things will stop. Just pick up and leave. Pick up and leave." Then you won't need to be so stressed out about people kneeling down anymore. Win/Win
  20. Did they actually say which comment the meeting was about? I would assume it was the comment where Trump said anyone who kneels during the national anthem is a "son of a B word" that should be fired immediately. But it could also be where he said that NFL players needed to "shut up and play" or it could be when he went off on a rant against trying to prevent concussions saying that concussion/injury prevention was ruining the game.. Just remember, anyone who supports the nonsense that Trump farted out of his mouth last night, he also suggested that if you see someone kneeling or protesting you should immediately leave the stadium and stop supporting the NFL. So anyone that has a problem with what the Bills are doing today I suggest you listen to your president, stop watching NFL games, stop going to NFL games, and quickly sign off out of here and stop supporting the NFL. Don't even post a response, just do as your president tells you and get out of here ASAP. Maybe go watch Hannity or something instead. You won't learn as much as you would from watching Football for 3 hours, but at least you won't have to be offended by someone kneeling down on TV.
  21. Most of Dareus's 2018 salary is already guaranteed as of March 2017. (Thanks Whaley/Overdorf!) So it will cost the Bills roughly $21.5mil to cut Dareus before the 2018 season vs ~$24mil ($16.75mil 2018 cap hit + $7.8 dead cap hit) to keep him in 2018 and cut him in 2019. Cutting Dareus next year only saves the team less than $3mil. (or roughly the same cap consequences as cutting Jordan Mills) The only way Dareus isn't on this team at least through next year is if someone is willing to trade for him (and pay the guaranteed portion of his 2018 salary) or if Beane is willing to cut him solely for the purpose of sending a message. (Which I really hope he wouldn't do but who knows at this point) Barring a trade, Dareus should be here at least this year and next. (after that the cap hit for getting rid of him isn't that bad)
  22. We can't afford to pay Gillislee 2.5mil for his 8 TDs and league-leading 5.7 YPC last year, but we can afford to give Shady a 2.5mil raise just because? I don't get it..
  23. There's not much the Bills can do against the Jets that would change my current opinion about the season. (If the bills win 55-0, Tyrod throws for 400+ yards and McCoy runs for 100+ then maybe.. But aside from something crazy it would probably take the Bills starting 2-0 or 3-0 before I'd start to reconsider where I think this team is headed this season.) The Jets are probably the worst team in the NFL, which is saying a lot because there are some pretty bad teams on paper this year!
  24. Kyle Williams retiring would be bittersweet. He's my favorite active Bill and I'd like to see him play for as long as possible. But after the moves of the last few weeks this team is at least 3 years minimum away from competing for anything and it's unlikely Kyle will still be playing at that point, so the cap space today is probably more valuable to the team moving forward than KW this year. That said, I think Kyle has committed to this season and don't see him retiring until at least next year.
  25. I'm starting to think they are trying to get every player Whaley drafted off the roster as fast as they can so that in two years if they aren't performing well they can make a stronger case for blaming it on the previous regime. That's 5 Whaley players traded this off-season all under the age of 24, all playing on rookie contracts, three of which were starting last year and one that we just used 3 picks to draft only one year ago.. (And it was almost 6 players because it seems like they were trying to move on from Miller too except that Ducasse has been terrible) If we were getting rid of players in their 30s or players with bloated contracts I'd completely understand it, but I don't understand building for the future by getting rid of all of the 22, 23, 24 year old talent on the team.
