  1. This is a tough call. Assuming Buffalo doesn't think a QB is worth taking at 10 then the bottom of round 1 becomes a good spot to try to get somebody. (None of the top 4 will last past all the QB needy teams at the top of round 2, if they even make it that far, which I think is a big if) But if they draft a top QB I'd like to see them draft in the 1st round to get that 5th year option so OBD has plenty of time to evaluate before they need to hand out their next 100+mil QB contract, since OBD has almost screwed those up twice now.. Normally I'd say use a 2 & 3 to move up into the bottom of round 1. But our secondary is a mess and this is supposed to be a draft where you can find starters in the 2/3/4th rounds at DB. Our 4th pick is already gone, I'd hate to give up 2/3 and have no middle round picks to address the secondary. I'd be equally as upset if the Bills gave up next year's first to get any of this year's QBs. So I don't hate the idea but don't know what I'd be willing to give up to get back into the 1st round. If the Bills are looking at a QB but don't want one at 10, I think I'd rather see them move down and try to get a 2018 1st. Or maybe an extra 2nd this year.
  2. IMO current team needs are: *QB (not a slam on Tyrod but the team obviously doesn't view him as a franchise QB so they need to get their QB of the future/ Tyrod contingency plan early in the draft either this year or next) Also CB1, WR2, LB, S And I wouldn't call them "needs" but definitely areas where the Bills could benefit a lot from an upgrade: RT & TE2 They also need to draft KW's replacement soon, and add some depth at D-line, LB, and maybe DB
  3. There have been some bad ones, but my least favorite on draft day was Maybin over Orakpo. Everyone in the league except for Dick Jauron knew Orakpo was the better prospect! With the gift of 20/20 hindsight, I think the pick that ended up having the biggest negative impact in the history of the Franchise was Losman. It was bad enough that we got Losman in a draft that had Eli, Rivers, & Roethlisberger. But we traded pick 20 in 2005 to move up in 2004 to get Losman. In 2005, Aaron Rodgers was drafted with pick 24 that year. Seems likely that if we hadn't taken Losman in 2004 and stuck with Bledsoe for one more year instead we very possibly would have wound up with Aaron Rodgers the following year.
  4. This whole thing is a trick Question.. Brady was a compensatory pick which as we all know don't matter. Pats win 5 superbowls anyway. The only change is Papa John's drops Peyton Manning as their spokesperson in favor of the up-and-coming superbowl 51 winning QB and MVP Jacoby Brissett (Garoppolo watches from the bench after getting a full year suspension for deflate-gate because he's no Tom Brady)
  5. Lol it's funny because draft picks don't matter... Now if the Bills can trick one of the teams that don't know better yet and are still foolishly trying to build through the draft into taking all of the Bills remaining 2017 draft picks, that would free up enough space to sign more roster bubble players we've never heard of..
  6. This one is kind of disappointing. I know Hunter isn't a WR #2 and probably isn't even a WR #3, but he was the only WR on the team that managed to consistently find the end zone. Oh well! I'm sure the price tag wasn't much, so the Bills could have re-signed him if they wanted, which makes me think he was probably never part of their plan going forward.
  7. If the Bills are able to re-sign Hunter I would have no problem having Hunter/Listenbee/Powell/Lewis competing in camp for the #3 WR job. Listenbee has speed, Lewis has size, and Hunter/Powell both showed some good things on the field last year. I'd be comfortable that one of the four will take a step forward this year, and the others make for ok depth. The Bills still need a #2 WR which they will probably need to get in the first two rounds of the draft. Not ideal but definitely good enough to get us through the 2017 season, especially if they are planning to run a lot of 2 TE sets anyway. There isn't really anyone else in FA I think the Bills should get. Does anyone really want to lay out a $30mil+ contract for Kamar Aiken or Brian Quick?
  8. As long as the Bills don't have any $8mil/yr+ players left in FA that they want to sign, if I understand it right, pretty much all they need to do to get an extra 3rd and 4th pick next year is sign two less FAs than they lose. If McD is as detail oriented as everyone keeps saying I would expect to see the Bills keep comp picks in mind as part of their approach to FA this offseason. If the Bills end up losing the 3rd/4th they'll get for Woods/Gilmore to sign two players at the bottom of the roster in FA instead of using the draft / signing UDFAs, that would be disappointing. But it's too early to tell what is going to happen at this point, FA is only 3 days old and nobody knows how many FAs we are going to lose/gain so I think this thread is a little premature. I don't understand why some posters are brushing off the importance of two free mid-round draft picks next year though. Stuff like this is just one of the things that separate us from teams like NE. (They got Gilmore, Cooks, Kony Ealy, & Dwayne Allen this off-season and right now are set to receive a 4th and 5th in compensatory picks next year anyway. That's not by accident, they take full advantage of every aspect of the system every year, and the Bills should too)
  9. I don't know if I'm in the minority but I'm actually pretty happy with the Bills' moves so far. It looks like they are getting rid of players who's play doesn't match their contracts and it seems like they have been careful not to overspend too much in FA. The analysts are saying the draft is so deep at CB/S that teams will be able to find potential starters in the 3rd/4th rounds so it's not out of the realm of possibility that the Bills walk away with two starters at DB in the draft. 2017 might be a rough year because the Bills won't be able to replace Gilmore, Woods, Brown, AW, Graham, Alexander, & Robey in one offseason. But when you look at how the team performed last year, factor in a much tougher schedule this year, a terrible salary cap situation, and a 1st year head coach with new systems to install, it's unlikely 2017 was going to be a great year anyway. Now the Bills have this year and next year to figure out their QB situation, and as long as they don't go out and spend a lot during the rest of FA, it looks like they could have as much as $70mil+ to spend in FA next year. This team has been kicking some cap problems down the road for a few years now, and this year seems like as good a year as any to get them all out of the way. Maybe that means the team is taking a step backward right now but hopefully it allows them to take three steps forward next year. (And hopefully the team is paying attention to compensatory picks and we're able to get extra 3rd & 4th round picks next year too)
