Dr. Jekyl, Mr. Hyde review of the Sean McDermot
LABILLBACKER replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm willing to give him another chance to redeem the 3 straight years of defensive playoff struggles. Now obviously this year would be impossible to critique him because of all the defensive injuries. But there's going to come a time in the McDermott era when a decision will have to be made. I like both Payton & Reich but who knows who's right for Josh. Maybe Daboll gets tired of developing Jones and wants to return. For now I'm supporting Clappy but he's not bulletproof. His defenses have got to do more in the playoffs. And considering the majority of draft assets have gone on his side, they're are no excuses. -

I will always praise and honor McDermott for bringing the illustrious "process & culture" to this organization. The team definitely shows incredible comradery and brotherhood. But......his incessant stubborn style slowly bringing players along drives me nuts. And his historical game management errors are well documented. Our path to a SB championship depends on Josh. And having an offensive HC would help that along. I'll tell ya one thing. Anymore defensive playoff mistakes like Houston 16-0 or 13 seconds won't be tolerated. -
I'll tell ya what they can do. Instead of wasting high draft picks on stiffs like Epenesa & Basham, go out and draft OL. Last I checked Josh doesn't play defense, so how bout you surround your elite cyborg unicorn franchise player with better olineman.

First mistake was not pooching and forcing them to burn 3-4 seconds. Second mistake was not defending the middle knowing they had all timeouts. Look where our throw to Diggs went yesterday...middle.

OLIVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A TURKEY LEG!!!
LABILLBACKER replied to familykwi's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think CBS chooses who goes up there and there was also a charitable donation. But yes they definitely should've included Ed. He was a monster yesterday. He gets paid before 13 or 49. -
It's a deflected int every time. We gotta stop being so predictable.

I wasn't. The NFL needs to choreograph their narrative and with Brady gone, the Patriots no longer matter.
-
This is the best synopsis of Dane. He'll be a very good CB3 behind Tre & Elam but he does need to work on 2 things. Getting his head turned and pass deflections.

Is the 17-game schedule diminishing NFL play
LABILLBACKER replied to SBbeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't know but it seems like injuries are on the rise throughout the NFL. Teams literally need 2 bye weeks to have any chance to get injured players back. -
His lazy game prep has morphed in a contrived manufactured drama with each game. He was great early but now he's just annoying and overblown.
-
When Von left, Ed basically carried this defense the rest of the way. Sorry Boogie but we had zero pass rushers left.
-
I actually surprisingly agree here. Cook has been too inconsistent and played poorly today. Wierd angles and routes. I wish Motor had Cook's speed but for now he's our true RB1. Start mixing in more plays for Hines. This is getting ridiculous.
-
So true. The whole plan revolved around Von & Groot staying healthy. That didn't happen. AJE & Basham were to contribute as rotational pass rushers. That didn't happen. Too many mid tier qbs look better than they should because of our inconsistent pass rush. This all trickles down on our rookie/backup DB's.

JA: Yips, new OC, or poor OL?
LABILLBACKER replied to Professor Worthington's topic in The Stadium Wall
The 70 yard throw came right after the hit and injury. Swelling and inflammation had not set in till after the game. Adrenaline is an amazing thing and can mask the pain. Watch how Josh had to tork and spin his body on the Diggs td v the Vikings. I knew right then his arm/elbow was more hurt than he's letting on. -
He just trys way too hard to manufacture drama. It's becoming a small annoying feature in his broadcasting style.

JA: Yips, new OC, or poor OL?
LABILLBACKER replied to Professor Worthington's topic in The Stadium Wall
1. Poor OL 2. Mediocre OC 3. Bigger injury than being told 4. Yips/ trying to be whole offense 5. Gabe & Dawson have disappeared. These facts are both obvious and glaring.... -
Whoever's in charge of taping ankles this year needs to be relieved of their duties.
