  1. What Ben Allbright just mocked is kind of a little frightening. Hockenson still on the board but the Bills pass on him and take Wilkins. Christian Wilkins will be a darned good NFL player, but is he going to be as special at his position as Hockenson? This might not sit well with me. What would REALLY set me off? If the Patriots wind up with Hockenson or Fant. Just what we all need.
  2. Sorry to make a thread about this, but I figured it deserved its own discussion. If not, well...my bad. Allbright tends to be one of the better mockers out there, if such a thing exists. He had Allen to the Bills all offseason last year. So if Hockenson is still on the board and Wilkins is the pick at 9, will there be a riot at TBD? Will @Cornette's Commentary have to change his pants? This would be quite the outcome. Wouldn't shock me one bit, either. Christian "Process" Wilkins. Hmmm....
  3. Allbright predicts Christian Wilkins. I am in agreement, as I mentioned yesterday. Doesn't take into account who I WANT, but that's who I think it'll be. I also think it's possible that Hockenson is still on the board and Bills pass on him for Wilkins. A certain segment of Bills Mafia will be furious, but it's hard to argue with a d-lineman over a tight end.
  4. Oh man. Don't let @Cornette's Commentary see this. He'll follow you around for weeks, repeating himself in a zombie-like stupor.
  5. Bump for vanity.
  6. Regarding that YardsPerPass tweet about skill positions in next year's draft (which, by the way, is also supposed to be short on good o-line talent): It sure seems like Beane is already planning for this. I know he has mentioned before that he looks at NEXT YEAR'S draft, too, when forming a plan for the offseason. I believe him. He is addressing o-line heavily this offseason both in free agency and, I expect, in the draft. He doesn't want to have to worry about that position group at all next year, because he knows there won't be much on the market in terms of either FA or rookies. Meanwhile, while he DID sign WR help this year, he did so with generally short term deals that are easy to get out of after either this year or next year. This was not by accident, in my opinion. While I DO expect him to get some more offensive help in the draft, I ultimately expect him to "finish" the o-line and defense first and foremost. I then expect him to use the oodles of NEXT YEAR'S cap space and draft picks to even more heavily fortify the offense. O-line this year, WRs and RBs next year. We'll see if I'm right, but boy, you have to love the fact that Beane is such a prepared and meticulous thinker and planner.
  7. The public at large is sleeping on Wilkins. The respect with which he is viewed is diminished by the presence of Olive and Williams, and by Wilkins' being older than usual for a draftee. Were it not for the fact that there are so many OTHER great DL prospects and were it not for the fact that Wilkins is 24, he would be viewed with the proper esteem. He's going to be really good.
  8. I'm fine with taking an edge guy at 9. But then IMMEDIATELY trading away our OTHER good edge rusher means we don't improve the team at all. Spinning our wheels. Silly.
  9. I expect if Wilkins is the pick that it will come after a trade down to either 16 (Carolina) or 23 (Houston). This year feels like 2017 to me. And like when we picked Tre'Davious White, the pick won't be sexy at the time, but will reveal itself to have been a wise decision and to have yielded a high quality player. Also like 2017, the added draft capital will take some of the sting out a less-than-exciting selection.
  10. I hear ya. Kyle Williams, who plays the same position, played until he was 35, right? Warren Sapp, same thing. 35. If Wilkins plays until he's 35, it means the Bills could have him for a decade. A decade of outstanding 3T play seems worth a 1st round pick. But I hear ya.
  11. I feel the same regarding these two. Would fully understand picking Jonah and would understand why its a sensible move. But I would much rather draft Hock. Maybe its because I think Hock has a better chance to be SPECIAL than Williams. Or maybe I'm just a shallow SOB.
  12. Yeah. If we say "no trades" and limit the pick time to 2 hours, it'll be fine. If whoever's turn it is hasn't picked within the 2 hour window, we can leave it to whoever is present in the thread at that time to make the pick. Just spitballing here.
  13. I've waited until the day before the draft so that we could all gather as much intel as possible. You can answer simply or you can go into detail. You can list two guys if you think they're going to be making two picks in the 1st round. When it's all said and done, who do YOU think will be the Bills' first round pick? I'll start: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson. I think he's 100% the type of guy the Bills want to build around. You won't find a better "Process"/locker room/culture fit anywhere in the draft. Also, the perception of Wilkins suffers because of the presence of guys like Oliver and Williams in this draft, but he's a baller. He may not have the explosiveness of Oliver (few do), but he's a supremely physically talented player in his own right. He is also extremely versatile and lined up everywhere along the d-line at Clemson. Between who Wilkins is as a person, who he is as a player, and where he is likely to be selected in the draft, I think he's the most likely round 1 pick for the Bills. I believe they'll trade down with either Carolina or Houston and wind up selecting Wilkins. Who's yours? Let's hear 'em!
  14. I'm willing to keep going, but I'm fine either way. 2nd round only. 3rd round seems unlikely to be done before actual draft.
  15. Looking over various mock drafts and draft needs lists for the Packers, the unanimously agreed upon position of most pressing need after OL was Safety. Even though the Pakcers signed Adrian Amos and spent a high pick last season on Josh Jones, they still feel like they need to add a playmaker at the position. As such... With the 30th pick in the 2019 NFL draft, the Green Bay Packers select Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, S, Florida The Packers love Gardner-Johnson's versatility. They feel that he will fit perfectly into Mike Pettin's multiple defensive fronts, and will provide Green Bay with an excellent "Big Nickel" package going forward. My work computer is being funny, so can someone please tag the next guy whose turn it now is? Please and thanks.
  16. I'm beginning to think you should check yourself into an institution of some sort.
  17. About 20 minutes. Bored at work. I clicked on the thread title expecting it to be a poem, and there was none. I felt cheated!
  18. Even in a simple, funny little thread about the excitement the night before the draft, you found it necessary to come in and -- in all caps, no less -- repeat yourself for the 87th time. We get it, dude, you want a defensive lineman, you don't want an offensive skill player, and you think that anyone who does is a fool. How many more ways can you find to repeat yourself before the Bills are on the clock?
  19. Twas the night before the Draft, and all through the States football fans were pondering their favorite teams' fates. The prospects were pondered and each given grades, while fans wrote new mock drafts with really dumb trades. The pizzas were ordered, the beer was on ice, the effort put into making man caves look nice. When on the TV there came such a loud din, It was goofy-haired Kiper, yapping again. Just as the channel was about to be turned, here came McShay, to share what he'd learned. The flowers now blooming, the skies a dull gray, Gave color to a late April Christmas-like day. As fans sat and hoped and said football prayers, and pondered their favorite draftable players. "Now Quinnen, now Murray, now Cheevers, now White, now a corner named Greedy who covers them tight. On Jacobs, on Bush, on Simmons and Fant, On combine freak Metcalf, can he run a slant?!" As we all nestled down and tried hard to sleep, We were suddenly disturbed by a rather loud "peep". I peaked out on my roof and was shocked by the scene, A man dressed in red, Bills GM Brandon Beane! With curiosity getting the better of me, I asked Beane a question with curious glee: "Who will we take? Will we draft in the current order?" "Sorry", he said, "We'll be taking a corner!" My dreams freshly crushed, I slinked back off to bed, With visions of playoff droughts fresh in my head. But I prayed and I hoped and I tried not to worry, For Josh Allen's here now, we'll be good in a hurry! The draft will soon start, the future is bright, Happy Draft Eve to all, and to all a good night!
  20. I know it. But even McKellar and Metzelaars were not truly dominant tight ends. I'm talking a Gronk/Gonzalez/Witten level player. I loved the 90s TEs, but they were not at that level.
  21. Brown doesn't remind me of Austin. Austin's game was side-to-side quickness, agility, lateral movement. He has never been and still isn't a true wide receiver. More of a jet sweep motion guy and "offensive weapon" if you want to call him that. Brown, on the other hand, is a true wide receiver. He's somewhere between DeSean Jackson and Marquise Goodwin. His calling card is straight line speed. He will take the top off a defense. I'm not for drafting Brown because we have two of him already in John Brown and Robert Foster, but best of look to whoever drafts him in keeping him healthy.
  22. I know I'm S.O.L. on this one, but... TJ Hockenson Why? Because the Bills have never, literally NEVER had a dominant tight end in their nearly 60 years of existence. It would just be nice.
  23. lol isn't it 1:30am on the east coast? This thing is going to HAVE to start moving considerably faster tomorrow or else this won't get past the 2nd round.
  24. TEs Dawson Knox and Foster Moreau. OT Bobby Evans OG Ben Powers
