  1. Lol it’s all good. All is fair in love and quarantined draft talk! I haven’t seen Claypool listed as anything other than a WR just about anywhere. In my mind, I picture an (obviously athletically superior) David Nelson. A classic Big Slot. If there is reason to believe that he can play in-line, too, or that he can complete a full-on Darren Waller style transition to TE, that certainly changes things. Furthermore, if we want a big, tall, strong red zone weapon, I maintain that one can be found later than the second round. I like Isaiah Hodgins a lot, for instance. In any case, I’m not gonna lose sleep if they pick a WR in round two, I would just prefer they wait until the third or later to start drafting WRs, given the depth of the position in the draft this year.
  2. I hear you....to an extent. With the amount of 11 and 21 personnel the Bills are likely to run, using their most premium pick on a WR4 that’s unlikely to see the field much just seems unwise. I’m all for the Bills drafting one or two WRs this year, but it’s such a deep WR class that using their HIGHEST pick on the position — after just spending their 1st on a WR, no less — seems unwise. In the context of this mock and who was available, it’s hard not to think a RB2 or a Cole Khmet Would have more impact on the offense. Anyway...pick a WR or 2? YES! Use their most premium pick on that position? No way.
  3. I disagree with it making sense to spend 5 picks on 2 WRs, with one of them unlikely to see much playing time. Also, since it IS a passing league, offensive tackles and corners seem important too, no?
  4. Great article at the link below. The reasoning makes absolute sense to me. While Beane spent premium capitol on the WR position and acquired a 26-year-old stud, he only put short term band-aids on the CB2 position (Norman, Gaines), the LE position (Addison), and the RT (Williams) and LB (Klein) positions. As such, and given Beane’s penchant for “doubling down” on need positions in FA and the draft, it’s logical to expect early picks to be spent on EDGE, CB, RT, or LB, with a WR and RB only being taken in the later rounds. https://www.cover1.net/buffalo-bills-brandon-beane-nfl-draft-tendencies/ Since arriving in Buffalo, Brandon Beane has preached his desire to address needs in free agency to allow him the freedom to draft the best player available. Over his two offseasons in Buffalo, Beane has acquired 36 players between the conclusion of the regular season and the NFL Draft, and he’s drafted 16 players. Of these 16 players, only four of them were at a position that Beane did not address via free agency or a trade prior to the draft. Seventy-five percent of the drafted players are at a position that Beane had already acquired a player at earlier in the offseason..... ...After processing all of the information that’s been laid out above, it seems that Brandon Beane may be looking to address cornerback, right tackle, edge rusher, and/or linebacker in the draft. With the way that Beane has drafted in the past, I would say it’s highly unlikely to see a receiver drafted high, and the chances of a running back being drafted high aren’t favorable. However, it’s important to note that this is all speculation with no strict rule.
  5. For those keeping track at home, this means the Bills have now spent this year’s 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th round picks and next year’s 4th on WRs. Yeesh.
  6. Still a yuck for me. For the reasons you mentioned, I’m all for the Bills taking a WR (or 2!) in this draft. But because of the deep crop of WRs, they can do it in the 3rd-6th rounds. No need to spend such a premium pick on a WR when it’s the deepest position in the draft. Besides, let’s suppose the Bills hadn’t traded for Diggs and had instead used pick 22 to take a rookie WR. In that scenario, would people still want the Bills to then turn around and spend their 2nd round pick on a WR, too? It’s nuts. Bills fans just have hard-ons for height/weight/speed WR candidates, which was exacerbated by the success of DK Metcalf last year. It’s silly.
  7. This is insane. Instead of taking a stud running back — RB2 is currently TJ freaking Yeldon — or an athletic young pass rusher or a playmaking TE to pair with Knox or even a young CB2 candidate...the leading vote getter is a WR?! Madness. For all the 21 and 11 personnel this team is gonna be running, we’re taking a WR4 with our highest draft pick?! Glad TSW won’t be making the call in real life.
  8. I read today that the Patriots have been doing a good bit of sniffing around James Morgan. Interesting.
  9. If he can unlock the deep ball, it will unlock the Bills offense. please please please please please
  10. I personally have no trouble believing that the Dolphins prefer Herbert and the Chargers prefer Love. If that proves to be the case, how far does Tua fall? Could Indy or Pittsburgh, for instance, each with old QBs, pass on such a prospect? Is the universe cruel enough to let Tua become a Patriot?! He would be a perfect Drew Brees understudy, if the Saints want to get crafty. Can’t wIt for draft day!
  11. Did he? May I borrow your crystal ball when you’re done with it?
  12. Somewhat fair. It’s weird for you to say there are “a TON” of red flags with Dugger. How could you know that with certainty? Most draft analysts have him anywhere from the late 1st to late 3rd round, but rarely beyond that. Anyway, my post was more referring to being against “position X” with pick 54, in this case, a safety. Doesn’t matter if it’s Dugger, Chinn, Winfield Jr, the point was that some are locked into the thinking that “if it’s not the position I want (RB, WR, whatever), it’s a wasted pick.” I simply mean to point out that the roster is well positioned for Beane to TRULY take the best player available. They MAY see Dugger as that. I’ve not watched him play much, but I HAVE read that the Bills have done more work on him than any other NFL team, and it DOES seem like his skill set translates to the big nickel spot that we all know McDermott seems to like. For these reasons, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he winds up a Bill.
  13. All those stating they would hate Dugger at 54 may want to try to come around to the idea, because in my opinion, it’s a reasonable possibility. For one thing, as Joe B says, it would allow the Bills to basically operate out of nickel at all times and not lose anything against the run. If the quality offensive tackles are off the board, there isn’t an edge rusher that presents good value, and they feel good about their CB2 position, a safety might well be the BPA. The WR crop is deep enough that they can wait until round 3, 4, or even 5. Running back, too, is a position that might be best addressed in rounds 3 or 4. So again, where does that leave pick number 54? BPA...and if that’s Dugger, then so be it. Lord knows I trust Beane asa talent evaluator, and I trust this regime in general when it comes to the defensive backfield.
  14. I haven’t read through this whole thread, but... What hate? Nationally and on Twitter, sure, people doubt him or actively mock him. That’s gone on since he declared for the draft. Here in Bills land, though? I don’t see much hate. I DO sometimes see people being level headed and realistic about Allen, though, pointing out that he’s not yet where he needs to be and he needs to continue to improve in order to become a franchise QB. I also see a segment of Bills fans who can’t stand even a WHIFF of criticism or constructive analysis and get their panties in a bunch if you even DARE to point out flaws in Allen’s game. It’s ridiculous. Its simple: Josh Allen has the tools necessary to be a franchise QB and has flashed enough potential to make many believe that he will achieve “franchise” status. Pointing OUT the fact that he isn’t there yet causes the more sensitive Bills fans to cry persecution and call you a “hater”. My personal view is that he took great strides in year 2, and he’ll need to take equally great strides in year 3. As long as he keeps improving, all is well. If he suddenly STOPS improving and tops out at about the level he’s currently at, then he’s not a franchise QB.
  15. He'll sign a couple more one-year, vet minimum types. I'm thinking a backup offensive lineman and a running back.
  16. Matt Parrino -- who is against taking a running back with pick 54 -- is doing victory laps on Twitter right now based on Beane's comments about Yeldon. ? It's coach/GM speak. If you believe that TJ Yeldon will be the opening day RB2 for the Bills then I have some oceanfront property in Idaho to sell you.
  17. With the 8th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select Jedrick Wills, Offensive Tackle, Alabama. Improving one of the league's worst defenses was a strong consideration here, but with Young, Brown, and Simmons off the board, the value did not make sense for any remaining defensive player. Turning their attention to the offense, the Cardinals were pleased to see that they had their pick of the entire offensive tackle class. Having locked up 26-year-old left tackle DJ Humphries with a recent contract extension, the Cardinals were specifically looking for someone who could come in and start at right tackle from day one. Mekhi Becton was tempting, and may have the highest upside of any of the tackles on the board. However, what Becton does NOT have is the proven production against top competition at right tackle that Wills presents. Tristan Wirfs was also a consideration, but our front office feels that his best position may ultimately be at guard. Having secured Wills and extended Humphries, the Cardinals feel they have taken a big step toward providing the protection Kyler Murray needs to become a franchise quarterback. @wppete and the Jacksonville Jaguars are now on the clock.
  18. I can dig Ruggs to the Giants. Why? Because can anyone name a truly dangerous receiver that plays for the Giants? Didn’t think so. Golden Tate is fine, but he’s not keeping defensive coordinators up at night. Now, If defenses want to stack the box to stop Barkley, Ruggs will make them pay. The Giants need to help their young QB, and I’m inclined to think OT is the position Gettleman would target to do that. But if it’s WR instead? Still makes sense to me.
  19. Pitter patter, let’s get at ‘er, Giants!
  20. I'm a big "reasons" guy when it comes to these mock drafts. It ought to be a prerequisite for participation going forward that you include a little write-up explaining your pick.
  21. I would just like to go on the record with this: I supported Reed83HOF's fictional trade-up for a WR in the last mock draft. Full stop. Gotta get your young QB a bona fide number one receiver. People are just gun shy due to the Sammy Watkins misfire. It was a good move. Whew. Glad I got that off my chest.
  22. I had this whacky vision last night that Jason Croom was going to come out of nowhere this year and snag a roster spot. Supremely athletic for the position, probably past his injuries now, plus he's banging the owner's daughter. Watch out for Croom.
  23. https://wgr550.radio.com/media/audio-channel/salsports-and-stuff-19-nfl-schedule-maker-mike-north If anyone missed the interview Sal Capaccio had with NFL schedule maker Mike North on his show today, I highly suggest you hit the link above and check it out. It's incredibly interesting to hear how much goes into this stuff, and it specifically sheds light on several interesting Bills topics. Two tidbits -- though I really do recommend you listen to the whole thing -- of interest: North said that the networks that have NFL airing rights come to the league each year with a wishlist of teams and games they'd like to have for their primetime and "Game of the week" slots. In past years, the Bills were never on those lists. This year, North says the networks all want Bills games, and that in his mind, he fully expects "multiple national prime time games" for the Bills. He cited how well rated the Thanksgiving Day and Saturday Night Pats games were, with the Bills-Cowboys being the most watched NFL regular season game all year. He made it sound quite definite that the Bills will be a significant prime time consideration this season. Sal also asked him about the Bills fan conspiracy theory that the NFL purposely schedules a lot of late season home games in Buffalo in the cold winter months where seats go unfilled because Goodell wants a new stadium in Buffalo and this is way of goading the Pegulas. North said that notion is absolutely laughable and goes through the reasons why. It's a very interesting listen all the way through, and if you have 44 minutes, you should get to it.
