  1. I don’t think anyone would argue that New England’s defense is very good. On the flip side, Allen could have played much better than he did, and most of his mistakes were of the unforced variety. While that in itself is to me, encouraging it’s something that only he can decide to change. As a Bills fan, I hope he does.
  2. Or you know, actually discuss things that are happening or have a chance of happening in the very near term. Crusades get tiring fast, and teams don’t make long term decisions that quickly. It’s 2019 and there’s lots of football left to be played. Draft/ offseason stuff will be here soon enough.
  3. I’d say yes, they would bring him up. Someone could go back to PS or the last guy on the roster gets waived, possibly to return later.
  4. Well football is a way of life ; I’ve worshipped at the NFL altar since the 80’s and it’s like a religion in some ways.I love the game , and does get the emotions going in all directions. The hype is all part of it and always has been. It has gotten harder to find perspective, and to me that’s not due to the advertising but because of the style of media coverage and the internet. In the 80’s and 90’s I enjoyed the media discussions and opinions. Today, everyone has their “ hot takes” and declarations. There is no nuance, just absolutes. It’s annoying as I want to enjoy the shows and coverage , but it generally just makes me angry and Ill turn it off. If you have football in your blood as a way of life , as part of American culture you just do and it hasn’t changed. Everything around it has.
  5. Solid improvement from where the passing offense was last year. Lots of room to get better. Not sure where they stand in offensive points per game but I’d guess it’s not too good. Not shown in Sals tweet.
  6. Well then it’s on Barkley to maintain possession there. You can make a play on 4th and long or get a flag, even if the chances are low. Have to extend the game so the turnover is mostly on him.
  7. Could he have taken the sack or was it fourth down, I don’t recall. If it’s fourth down I’ll give him a pass as he had to try to do something. Can’t throw it away or take sack on 4th down, though I seem to remember a QB doing that before.
  8. No, he didn’t but there were major OL issues . I don’t think Vrabel will be concerned about Barkley destroying him in the air when he’s rushed. I fully expect him to show a lot of the same things that were effective vs the Bills offense. I like Singletary, but I’m not ready to call him a difference maker just yet.
  9. I think he’s that guy, but not so sure this is the game he can win. Especially with all that Pats film fresh in the TEN coaches mind.
  10. I do. He wasn’t fast enough , athletic enough or just quick thinking to not attempt the throw. I don’t think it was fourth down , was it ? If it was, then I don’t fault him completely.
  11. He needed to be more like Brady and realize that when a play had next to no chance due to coverage, he had to throw it into the stands. Not the dirt, as TB doesn’t get called for grounding in those situations but Allen definitely would. He missed an open guy a couple times, but should have gotten rid of it sooner.
  12. Yes, we do. One can’t throw the football like an NFL Quarterback. The other can, but tries to do too much and forces things. Apples to oranges really.
  13. Pretty cool that you can see this. Tell me, who do you see as the next QB of the Bills , since Allen will play himself out of the league?
  14. A screen can be effective , but it’s not a panacea. Your OL has to be really good at “ selling it”. This OL is still new and hasn’t played a ton of snaps together. NE coaches and players know this.
  15. Because he doesn’t appear to be a simpleton. He will probably realize that he has to stop the unforced errors or he will be out of the league in short order. Who knows, though? Maybe he’s a dunce. You’re not. Watching Mariotta play reminds me of watching Tyrod at QB.
  16. An opposing D facing a backup QB is going to take the run away. Barkley will have to win it, save a defensive score or two.
  17. The NFL isn’t really serious about protecting all QB’s or even all players, for that matter. They certainly are t going to start with Josh Allen. It’s too bad because it will take out a big part of his game, but that’s how it is. It’s another reason why the Pats never get called for offensive holding. As we saw Sunday, a holding call gives free reign for defenders to take a shot at the QB without consequence on the field.
  18. Ego is far too huge to credit the opponent that made him look like a mere mortal at QB.
  19. Ehhh, actually this board isn’t the place for those people. ( I use the term loosely). This is a Bills board, and they can go hang on the Pats boards if they want to discuss things related to them.
  20. Steelers run a pressure defense, and have excellent edge rushers. Frazier and McDs D is more of a keep everything in front of you, play coverages and disguise your looks. They aren’t fans of blitzing very often, so you’re not going to see huge sack totals. Just a different philosophy of defense. Personal preference like chocolate or vanilla. Both can be effective, It certainly hampered Brady. Steelers didn’t do so well vs NE.
  21. This^^^. Besides , sitting a guy down just doesn’t happen in the NFL at the QB position. If you do this ( outside of injury) then you are done with that guy being the QB of your team. That’s just how it is, and won’t change. The Bills aren’t at that point, nor should they be. Not now. Most of Josh’s wounds were self inflicted. He has to learn to not take negative plays. If he doesn’t, he won’t play here or anywhere in the NFL for very long.
  22. The Bengals aren’t very good, but lots of teams have “ packed it in “ over the years. Their HC seems like he’s in over his head, and players probably know it. The NFL is a pretty closed society and all p,Ayers want to hit FA and possibly cash in. All teams have pro personnel depts and they know who everyone is. Most rosters have lots of lower priced players who can play. It’s not just superstars that change teams. These players all want to be like NBA players and call all the shots. Teams run for the bus every year. Look at Miami. Obviously it doesn’t work like that. The Bills could beat the Bengals and then the Bengals could win at SEA. Fans just love to overreact, and think that if you lose a game then the other team is X amount of points better than you.
  23. This is a fair statement. They are a newly overhauled offensive team that has 4 new OL out of 5, 2 new WRs and two rookie TE’s. The QB has 15 starts ( most of which were behind an inferior OL with few good WR targets. They still lack an elite WR. The offense is a work in progress at best, and many players are in their first year of it.
  24. Maybe the Steelers are just better than the Bills in all areas.
  25. It’s a long way off, and could be very meaningful for the Bills ( or not) but just because Ben is out doesn’t mean it’ll be a cakewalk. That franchise has a ton of pride, and I can only recall the Bills winning at PIT once as a franchise.
