Should Dorsey come down to the sidelines?
oldmanfan replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall
Doesn't matter. What does matter is that someone like Brady be in Josh's ear the entire game encouraging him, but also not afraid to get in his face and challenge him if he is not taking easy throws and such. -
[QUESTION] Your Opinion On This Team Will Change Tonight If:
oldmanfan replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have regretfully indicated I don't think we win another game this year due to the ineffectiveness of the offense and defensive injuries. If we win I will be delighted to be wrong, and if we win convincingly then I would say it bodes well for us to make the playoffs. -

Ben Solak (The Ringer) Analysis of Josh's Decisions this Year
oldmanfan replied to JohnRVA's topic in The Stadium Wall
When WRs don’t get separation or drop passes, they are criticized and rightfully so. When Dorsey calls odd plays like handing off from the shotgun, or slows things down when the fast paced offense is working, he gets criticized. And rightfully so. When lineman miss blocks, or miss handing things off to the right guy during a blitz, they get criticized. And rightfully so. When RBs don’t see a hole or make the wrong cut or miss a block, they get criticized. And rightfully so. Now here’s the big question for some of you: When Josh makes the wrong read and doesn’t take the easy completion, or when he gets suckered into throwing a pick on the same pattern he’s thrown one before, should he get criticized? And rightfully so? Or is Josh immune from criticism and as such is the only player on the team and likely the league that enjoys that status? -
Daboll as HC? Is anyone watching the NFL this year?

Bills vs Broncos-Monday Night Football
oldmanfan replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, let’s go position by position: Jones: tearing a muscle, not really a conditioning thing although maybe a bit more stretching? Milano: someone falling on his leg and breaking it. Not a conditioning thing White: ruptured Achilles, can happen to anyone anytime and not a conditioning thing Bernard: concussion, not a conditioning thing Hyde: Stinger, not a conditioning thing I think the answer you’re looking for about elite conditioning is no -
People honestly need to read. They compared Daboll’s LAST 25 games to Dorsey’s FIRST 25 games. Tom Brady said he wanted to be coached hard. Allen doesn’t get an exemption card from being coached. And you can certainly point out to him easier throws he can take without forcing him to be something he’s not.

There you go. I’m sure folks in KC are bitching about Reid too. -
Ben Solak (The Ringer) Analysis of Josh's Decisions this Year
oldmanfan replied to JohnRVA's topic in The Stadium Wall
Both Allen and Burrow are great QBs. Burrow is running his offense better than Josh is running his right now. That likely has some to do with Zac Taylor scheming better than Dorsey. But Burrow also seems to take the throw that’s there more than Allen. I’d like to see Allen take the easier short throws that will then open things up downfield. He seems to do that more when they go fast tempo so I think Dorsey should go with that and quit farting around with other approaches. Too many here are saying that Josh should just be left alone. He is prone to bad decisions and as a result throws more picks than he should. Brady always said he wanted to be coached hard; Josh could use that as well. -

Every single guy on the offense can be doing a better job, including Josh. -

3 Int’s vs. 1. What loses games? Turnovers. We all love Josh, but watching that game last Sunday if you didn’t think Burrow did a better job then you’re hero worshipping. -

Week 10, Broncos v. Bills - Predict the Score
oldmanfan replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m going to say again I have always been a Bills optimist, but I think there are serious issues with this squad. Don’t know what to do on offense, and a lot of starters out on defense. So sadly I say 20-17 Broncos. -
While I don’t think Dorsey is doing a good job, the above also shows how folks complained about Daboll as well. The question is what is going on behind the scenes in the QB room. Was Daboll and is Dorsey pointing out when guys are open underneath and such, instructing Josh to go there, but he’s not seeing it on the field? Is he refusing to take the easier route in favor of the throw downfield? Are guys really not open and Josh has nowhere to go with the ball? Are WRs making bad decisions on routes? It is likely all are a part of it. But there is little doubt the league’s DCs can read what we want to do now and know how to defend it.

Is 10 Wins enough to make the playoffs? What is the path to 10 wins?
oldmanfan replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sir, I have been a fan since opening day when my 4 year old butt was sitting at the first game at the Rockpile. I stayed optimistic when we had Dan Darraugh or Kay Stephenson were QBs. So with all due respect, I have always taken the positive view. So it pains me to say I don’t see another victory. The best chances are the Broncos, Jets, and Pats. We’ve already lost to the last so, and the Broncos D has woken up. It is clear the Bills offense is dysfunctional. Add to that the D missing so many key guys and we’ve got trouble. I’ll be delighted to come on here and say I was an idiot if they win . Nothing would make me happier. -
Building opinion that Josh is not committed to the Bills/football?

I think my concern there was whether they would wake up and play with urgency. I suppose having less time would have forced them into it. -

If Josh went on IR do the Bills win a game?
oldmanfan replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m going to be brutally honest, and find it hard to say this as a 63 year fan of the team and normally one who leans towards the glass being half full: i don’t think they’ll win another game even with Josh. I think the offense is completely non-functional at this point, a combination of Dorsey not being up to the job, Josh not being Josh either due to injury or other factors, and a complete inability or unwillingness to run the ball. And on defense the number of critical injuries has just been too much, and if Bernard is out for a time then we simply can’t hold up against some of the teams we’ve yet to play. i hope I’m as wrong as I can be, but this team may have to hit rock bottom before riding from the ashes. -

And could have had even more time. Which as it turns out they might have needed due to the idiotic loss of a time out because of that challenge. Whoever recommended that challenge should have been fired today. -

I do not question his commitment nor his physical talent. I do think a legitimate concern is that he does not do pre-snap reads well, and that he does not check to the easier play when it would be wise. Take two examples last night. Frst the interception. He was baited into the exact same thing against the Pats. Second was a 3rd and 2 play where he stayed in the picket too long looking for something downfield. All he needs to do there is take the short option available and move the chains. Especially against a guy like Burrow keep the chains moving and don’t let him have the ball. And I’ll give you one more. The last TD drive. There was no urgency to the offense, no getting to the line quickly, no quick snap counts. That may be more on Dorsey but a QB in the league 6 years should know to challenge his OC if that’s the case.
