Game week thread - Chiefs at Bills (Video preview on pg. 19)
oldmanfan replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am encouraged by the play of the D line yesterday. We need pressure on Mahomes. When we have the ball we need Palmer back and Kincaid to be healthier, but I expect a big diet of Cook again until the Chiefs show they can slow him down. -
Brady needs to work on a route tree that gets guys open. Whatever happened to the 4+1 formation from last year? That said, I think Josh is battling some injuries. There were some wide open throws he missed badly today.

I think Jeudy or one of the two guys from the Saints winds up in a Bills uni. -

Solid performance today. I suspect McD talked to Brady over bye week and said enough, get back to good basic football. He still needs to be more inventive in his passing schemes, but he has a weapon in Cook, a good O line and used them. It was good to see Hairston and Hancock on the field some; both showed well. And the D line really benefitted from Hoechst. I am concerned about Josh. His accuracy was off today. Wonder if he’s dinged up. -
I might give one to Cook

Random thoughts. D is playing well. O line is nasty again. Josh is off. Cook is a monster. Penalties are down but still some dumb things there. -

How much stupid crap is this team going to do? Two stupid penalties and then Josh loses his mind. -

That is a timing pattern and the throw was a bit late. And we’re running the ball because at this point they can’t stop it. -

Might be time for Lewis to step in for Taron.

I believe run D is not so much gap integrity and all the other nuances McD likes to talk about. It is about old fashioned want-to; when a guy tries to block you beat him physically and get to the ball carrier. And you hit the ball carrier hard, wrap up, and bring him down. Each guy on the D needs to look in the mirror and man up.

They had 5 guys at the position to start the season. Three of them got hurt. They brought a veteran in the system back with Poyer. What the hell do you want? You can’t have endless guys at every position.

Do teams regret not drafting Shakir earlier every time he has a good game? Or Cook? Or Kincaid? And on. And on. And on. You can play this kind of hindsight game with virtually any player in the league, so I don’t get it myself.

Joe Marino's 9 point plan for improvement

Brady needs to diversify the offense the way it ran last year. As for Coleman, just throwing back shoulder sideline routes isn’t working. Run him in somecslants, crossing patterns and such. -
It’s time to have an uncomfortable conversation about Taron

It’s always sad to see vets slow down. For PFF fans, Lewis was the highest rated guy on the D last week. Perhaps Cam goes in there and Hancock to safety.
