Because Russ Brandon knows the business end of a sports franchise, and not the paying end. He never had any business around decisions about football (that was Ralph and I suspect Littman ), never should have had input into coaching decisions, etc. But the guy knew the marketing and business ends of pro sports teams. You honestly can't really be trying to equate the business side with the playing side, right? I mean you can't really think those correlate in any way, right?

I don't think you meant to do this, but your post here demonstrates the hypocritical nature of some fans. Here's Sammy (who, again, I wish we would have kept) going into I believe his sixth season (maybe 5th). His career has not been anywhere near what he and others had hoped, due a lot to injury bout also due to less that the outstanding performances everyone expected from him out of college. Yet you're indicating his time will come, the book isn't completed, and such. And I agree with that. But if we are to do so with Sammy, why then do we have posts declaring that we need to give up on a Zay Jones? Why do we have a thread about when to pull the plug on Allen this coming season, his second season in a very difficult position, when he showed such promise last year. Why should we have patience for other teams' players but not our own?

To catch up on a few things: 1. I wish we still had Sammy, but Sammy also admitted his attitude sucked. Like it or not that doesn't work with our management. And his production does not merit the huge contract. 2. Reid and MacVay know offense but neither have proved they are great HCs. MacVay has time, but Reid has one SB loss and several playoff losses as a HC. I don't get the mad love for Reid, much like I don't get Marv being a HOFer.

Josh Allen: Film Review From a Cynical Man

You might want to look back at some threads addressing this. Those who did do a game by game analysis saw his accuracy was Ok. His ball placement or precision needs to be better especially on short throws. I would differ with the concept that accuracy cannot be taught. Continual practice on fundamentals of and repetitive physical activity whether it be throwing a football, throwing darts, a golf swing can be improved by proper practice of fundamentals. -
I see your point here. I think Mahomes is very good, better than the vast majority thought he'd be. It does help to have talent around him. Allen had a decent rookie season, and they have addressed the O line and brought some new receivers in to help support him. At the same time Mahomes has lost a couple guys that were integral the the Chiefs offense. Should be an interesting season for both. I expect Mahomes may fall off a bit, and Allen should improve somewhat.

The Rise of the Snowplow Sports Parents

It's stunning how many people get sucked into this. The girl's swim team at our local high school has won the state championship for over 30 years straight - set a national record for consecutive championships. They start recruiting kids in preschool to join the swim club - 3 hours a day minimum. My daughter swam when she was that age, and at 6 she was swimming relays with 10 year olds; she would beat kids her age in breaststroke by more that half of the length of the pool. And I was aggressively pursued by other parents, coaches, etc. Insane. My sister in law is a strength coach and was the women's coach at a Big Ten school. She'll tell you two things about this phenomenon of kids being forced into a sport so early. One, they are in shape for their specific sport by are in terrible general condition. Second, most all of them can't stand their sport by then; they're burned out. -

It's the intensity and the more widespread nature now. It used to be we'd all play a different sport each season. Now you have parents being told their grade school kid has to focus on one sport, be on travel teams, etc. to have a shot and parents get sucked into it. When my daughter was in first grade playing T-ball another 6 year old missed a game because she was on a travel team. That's right - a travel team for 6 year olds playing T ball. -

My wife is a college couselor. It is astounding how many parents think their kid is going to get a free ride through college, and how many get ramrodded into a specific sport even in preschool. -

Because. It's a new year and we have two very promising leaders on each side of the ball.
