I think Gore beat him out for the veteran role. Simple. Hope Shady does well in KC, no ill will towards him at all. Hope he does great until we beat him in the AFC championship game.

One could argue they should have traded him last year.

Why did we keep him all offseason? Because Beane and McD felt he’d be a big part of the equation. Then Singletary and Gore came on strong. ?

$$$$. Teams knew they could get him for less if he got released. Plus if any team thought he was still that good and their clear answer they would have made the trade and paid him 6 million. Seems like folks including the Bills see him as a complementary piece at this point in his career and not worth the bigger dollar.

A small fraction of guys seem to have been claimed thus far. It speaks favorably that talent we had to let go gets picked up quickly.

We’ll see, just like the Bills will see with their retooled offense. My guess is the Chiefs will fold just like Reid teams ultimately do every year. Just a question of how far they get before it happens. Why do you spend so much time on a Bills message board anyway?

I used it first about the Chiefs. They spent a fortune on their Offense but their defense is not good. It will come back to bite them.

I agree. But Shady at this point in his career isn’t forcing the opposition to game plan for him either. There is only so much you can do in one off season. I think the smartest thing they did is to revamp the O line. Especially given the paucity of O line talent in the league. Hopefully that triggers a better run and pass game.

The willing belief to lump a team with a new owner coach and GM to 20 years ago defies any logical explanation.

I’m still surprised by Shady, but I wonder if part of it is wanting more north-south runners to avoid putting Allen in 2nd or 3rd and long situations. Shady can break stuff off but also when he dances can lose yards.

He had a nose for talent but he also put us in cap hell. The real story is that Ralph wanted to keep him and tried to get him to commit but Butler was evasive. And he was evasive because he was negotiating with SD while under contract with Ralph. Go back and read what happened at the time.

Let’s be careful about lying about what happened. Butler was negotiating with another team and got caught.

They negotiated that in the CBA. The players don’t like it they should blame their executive team.

Ralph fired Butler when he found out he was negotiating to go to SD behind his back.

At some point you need to get control of yourself. Comparing the previous Bills regimes to this one makes no sense but you do it over and over again. And the comments are about the Chiefs and not the Bills. Reid has built an asymmetric team that will fold in the playoffs like his teams have always done. How does Reid get this phenomenal reputation when he has had one team in like 20 years make it to the show and then lose?
