  1. 5th rounder seems a bit low, but Hyde isn't particularly explosive. Johnson and Chubb will be fine for the Browns.
  2. The guy hasn't been relevant since Borat. OBD has nobody to blame but themselves for letting it get this bad.
  3. I agree. Top to bottom, the Chiefs have #1 supporting cast in the league. The challenge is how much of a factor the supporting cast plays in his performance. We can't evaluate him outside the Chiefs so it's impossible to determine how much they are helping. Guessing here, but I would say they are improving his numbers 15-25%. If his numbers were 75% of his current output, he'd still be looking like an elite QB! If developing a QB is a marathon, Mahomes is starting at mile 13. He still has to be able to run, but it's easier for him to finish the race. Allen hasn't been spotted even a single mile!
  4. I was referring to both positions. I don't think Mahomes would be trash in Buffalo, nor do I think Allen would be torching teams in KC, but of course, no way to to prove either. I'd bet on talent. Mahomes is mastering chess out there. I'd really be intrigued to see of any QB who played elite ball so early in the league suddenly falling into mediocrity.
  5. If it's 2007 Derek Anderson, sure! I'll take it. If it's 2008-2018 Derek Anderson, of course not. He's been a nobody for a decade! We can gain nothing by playing him. Allen should start until the end of the 2019 season, no exceptions.
  6. "Hypothesis contrary to fact". I've lost track at how many times 2BD uses this ***** as gospel.
  7. Mahomes looks elite because he has tremendous arm talent WITH accuracy, mobility, and a great understanding of the offense and its progressions. Allen has only showed us his mobility. Does he have some elite weapons? Sure. I think that's universally agreed on, but there really is no way to evaluate him without those players. I don't think those playmakers have a dramatic effect (ex. double the yardage/TDs) on his production. I would argue that, at best, they add 20%. If Mahomes only had 13 TDs, 1400 yards passing and 2 turnovers, he still would be a tremendous player at the position!
  8. It's hysterical. We want to drag down Mahomes for these performances (against an elite Jags D and the Pats in Foxborough), but we have to prop Josh Allen up when he's throwing for 80 yards on checkdowns. Is Allen not susceptible to this magical "tape" that every other QB has working against them? I said it before, but I'd be interested in the short list of QBs who have scored 20+ TDs in 6 games. It's probably a list of current elites and HOFers. One of these guys is mastering chess, the other is learning checkers. It's painfully obvious to even a casual fan.
  9. Good read on the subject: https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2018/10/10/17958238/quarterback-trend-easy-difficulty-jared-goff-drew-brees-patrick-mahomes
  10. Of course, but those are complimentary pieces. The #1 reason those QBs look great is because they can consistently throw with great accuracy and anticipation down the field. That's really what elite QB play comes down
  11. What is the tape going to tell you about Mahomes? Do you think defenses have some secret weapon they can pull out? If a QB can throw with tremendous accuracy and anticipation down the field, it's over. No defense can shut down that down. He scored 23 points against an elite defense last week. He torched the Pats for 40 points yesterday on the road. Funny how we're expecting all the young guns like Trubisky, Mahomes and Goff to cool off with "tape"
  12. Mahomes has put up 20 TDs in 6 games. I'd bet the only QBs who have done that before are current elites or HOFers, so he's in really good company.
  13. The last six times the #1 NFL offense met the #1 NFL defense, the offense won. I hope you watched the 2015 Broncos or the LOB Seahawks. Those types of defenses are going to become rarer and rarer.
  14. If Allen wants to throw for 350+ yards, 4 TDs and lead an offense that scores 40 in Foxborough, I'm OK with him throwing 2 picks. We might be waiting a long time for Josh to make that kind of impact.
  15. Baby steps...let's just get to 150 yards passing per game. You see how much Brock Osweiler!!! threw for today against the Bears D? Come on now. This passing game is a joke, and Allen is a big factor in that.
  16. There have been many attempts to explain away Josh Allen's poor NCAA stats. They all fall short. There is a statistical reason to take a guy like Baker #1, or to pick someone like Russel Wilson late, but there was never a statistical reason to pick Josh. He was always a "tools" guy.
  17. Every statistical model was down on Josh, that bit is indisputable, but I don't recall seeing any reputable site saying he was that bad. The worst I saw was that he graded as a 2nd rounder.
  18. Can we run a Tim Tebow offense for Josh? Not many options when you have a terribly inaccurate, one read scrambler back there. Maybe we'll finish #1 in rushing, #32 in passing like the Broncos! And can we please stop comparing everyone to Goff and Trubisky? Keep in mind the massive turnaround those teams had. Can we pickup Khalil Mack? How about a MVP RB like Gurley? 3 great receivers like the Rams have (well, we had one of them) ? Those QBs took a big leap on their own, but the team around them is going to be very challenging to establish for Allen.
  19. Russel Wilson-esque running would be preferred. That dude rarely takes big hits. Cam's style isn't very sustainable, but it works because he's a giant and incredibly athletic. Allen running up the middle on pass plays isn't going to fly.
  20. If we want to copy that situation, we'll need 3 good to great WRs, a MVP candidate at RB, a solid offensive line and a brilliant offensive coach. Easy as pie!
  21. Buffalo is many things, for better or worse, but it not a "small town" with "simple values". This isn't the place to discuss what Buffalo is and isn't, but bottom line, the Bills do not look to the regional fan base for validation of their process. I don't think most fans give a damn. They want good football, and if you're an elite playmaker, people will look at past all sorts of issues.
  22. McAdoo didn't seem that creative. He proved very early on that he could beat just about any DB who matched up across from him. How many players out there can truly take a bunch of short routes to the house this easily? It's is an extremely rare trait. But yeah, he's not worth it, because he's a loudmouth, or so some would say.
  23. Sleeby set the bar with Buffalo being a "Small town, simple values" kind of place. This one came close, but ultimately fell short. Football fans get tremendous insight into the "mental health" of a player by watching a few games.
