  1. For the past years we've put plenty of great plays on tape early Now we're actually getting Josh into a rhythm of three step and five step passing game... Reading the field and executing That's going to be tougher to defend in January when we have a rhythm passing game.. then when they open up the Play action by another 5% or 8% it's going to pay dividends We have other things the offense has to work on, during these early regular season games then the play action game where Josh is already very very good We don't need to show our full hand... Our offense is humming we really don't need to show any of our best play action plays yet From 9% to 15% when the games are on the line is probably what you can expect
  2. Completely different styles of runners and backs Kamara has never had a thousand yard rushing season.. more of a back who has 800 receiving 800 rushing in prime... He's a fluid runner, supreme balance control .. never looks like he's running as fast as he can James Cook is like a poor man's Chris Johnson.. like not 4.2 speed but the same type of explosiveness and vision and getting better at finishing Yeah him and James Cook are completely different styles He's a 800 yd Rushing and 500 yd receiving guy with supreme balance control and ability to shrug off contact .. patient James Cook is like a slower version of Chris Johnson, super explosive very good vision and hits the hole hard and fast
  3. Tua blew out his hip at Alabama and you get a lot of power from that trunk.. and he had a severe injury.. his arm was actually stronger by a decent amount pre-injury.. not that he had a Stafford or Josh Allen arm.. but he lost juice Go back farther to when he was in high school he was actually was more a gun slinger... he actually relied all on his natural ability which was he was an amazing thrower of the football When he went to the elite 11 finals.. Trent really grilled into him hard.. he was not a field general but a big play gunslinger who's talent led to a lack of some fundamentals... But over the three days he took to the best coaching and actually won the elite 11 finals It's a shame because I've liked tua since high school but his terrible injury at Alabama definitely affected his arm strength because a smaller guy like him needs that lower body to drive through and it was a catastrophic injury Even just watch his game-winning pass as a true freshman in the national championship game and he threads the needle on a 40 yard pass..with timing and anticipation and good arm strength as an 18-year-old true freshman Not a favre or Josh Allen rope but for an 18-year-old kid, in the national championship game, coming off the bench... That's a hell of a throw not close to a lollipop
  4. There is a healthy balance especially when Josh is so effective.. you don't want to put too much on tape early As someone who evaluates high school players and used to do college players I would say quarterback... Especially in college you will see some extremely high play action percentages And that just screams gimmick offense... If your team is running play action at a 35-40% clip, your stats are going to be highly effective But that doesn't really translate to the pro game... Where the hash marks actually condense the game So I think we're trying to build a nice true offense that could work in any situation.. the human tendency would be to go heavy play action with Josh Allen and waggles because his athleticism... But the higher the play action percentage, the more it becomes gimmicky... And the pros won't fall for it as easily In January and February it will get ramped up slightly.. but we are building a NFL offense where we can run and take three and five step drops and work the field horizontally... The boundaries and the seam...So all the play action attempts feel more organic.. our three tight end set is going to open up play action a lot when they want same with 12 personnel When it's all on the line, around 15% give or take a little bit more or less is probably where you want to be
  5. The game catches up to every single coach.. especially the X's and O's guys Someone is always going to reinvent the wheel in football Pure motivators like Pete Carroll can coast a little bit longer like a marv Levy.. terrific coach more of a players coach a motivator.. not necessarily a tactician Not that their Xs and O's are bad.. but Pete Carol doesn't rely on scheme.. he's a motivating developer Peyton helped bring a spread WC coryell system to the NFL at a successful level.. but there's people who are pushing it past him now
  6. Absolutely... Three concussions is all it would take.. not counting all the other repeated head banging ... Had four in a short time span in college which ended my football playing but I always rushed back Yeah we would basically call that a braveheart drill now or shark tank or something similar.. it's great for getting used to contact But there's always ramifications
  7. Technically not illegal if you're doing it during the game trying to read signals from the field .. from the stands it's illegal like I said I have absolutely caught opposing teams putting interns or low level assistant in the stands at a perfect seat to try and steal signs over the years And I have called them out
  8. Absolutely I am going to donate my brain when I die cuz I am certain I have it after 15 years of playing ball I'm certain..but my short term memory is affected and I'm foggy alot.. but thank God I don't have any of the self-harm thoughts.. and I just pray that everybody going through this goes to the doctor and doesn't do anything drastic
  9. The difference is football even at a very good high school level has already weeded out most of the parents who won't let their kids play... The ones who are playing at 16 17 have a father who played, it's a generational thing, it's something that could get them to college Even in my time there was a bunch of parents who would not let their kids strap it up and play football... Football like boxing is a sport that can get you out of your town... It could get you from the bottom and give you a future That's not going to stop the biggest percentage of kids playing football who are doing it as an outlet.. football is how we used to keep kids off the streets and out of gangs in the city You keep on occupied if you keep them off the street That still is how it is in a lot of places If you played football from 7 through high School and you banged a lot of heads and took a lot of hits Yes 100% kids who played through high School have it
  10. Players on the field absolutely also have hand signals to relay information... And the Green Dot call is basically going to be the meat and potatoes of the call The positional coaches in situations are also giving hand signals or gestures relaying more information Occasionally... Like they might see something in the alignment and signal bracket coverage If You're on the road at Ralph Wilson stadium where it's hard to hear you might have to rely on gestures and hand signs occasionally.. sometimes the mic goes down.. so you need to have hand signs
  11. Positional coaches use gestures and occasional signs to relay information There are absolutely using hand gestures and physical signals to relay to their position groups.. and the coordinators also use gestures and signs it's not all radio
  12. Realistically Jason Peters was a jumbo tight end who most scouts had as a projection to tackle The bills basically used him as a 6th offensive lineman tight end the first year.. while playing special teams Then the full switch to tackle.. but I think Jim McNally always had that project in his mind
  13. I've been at multiple games around the country and at Ralph Wilson stadium where I have caught sign stealing from opponents I actually alerted the Ralph once and the guy moved.. but he was 100% sign stealing and relaying .. he was communicating with people on the sidelines Being around the game so much it was easy to spot
  14. Realistically nobody knows how he would look like if he sat in my opinion it cannot hurt a quarterback, especially a talented one... Six games or one year or two years.. can only help a pro adjust Go. Bills
  15. Damn that's who I saw walking down Genesee
  16. It's not that I don't think svgp has talent But I was one of the first people who was like pump the brakes on his long-term success as our future center He still has the potential to be a good center in the league but I still would think a guy like Alec Anderson would beat him out in a head-to-head competition if they want to move him to center straight up Center is a position that is typically groomed better for two or three years so he still has potential for sure.. he just needed to grow also as a football player Unless McGovern is willing to take A team friendly deal it's probably going to be svgp versus Alec Anderson
  17. Sitting a rookie quarterback is always the right decision It will never hurt a quarterback learning the NFL game from the bench which is what the bills wanted to do .. Josh would have cleaned up some of his flaws sooner if he didn't get thrown to the fire... Getting thrown to the fire sharpened him like iron but he also didn't correct his flaws for a while.. he was Brett favre.. a play making machine with 15 turnovers a year.. that could have got coached out from the bench sooner... Go bills
  18. Peterman was a good practice quarterback.. everywhere he's went coaches has lauded his ability to practice very well And again the history of NFL football says grooming a quarterback from the bench is the correct way to do it.. it didn't matter if it was Nathan Peterman or gibran hamdan... McDermott was not going to trot out Josh Allen week one he was going to give the veteran every chance Josh Allen took years and years to get rid of a lot of his flaws which would be corrected from the bench easier Coaches just don't have the time to sit a quarterback on the bench for 3 years learning anymore.. but it is the correct call.. no quarterback will get hurt sitting and learning the NFL game Every single quarterback can benefit from learning the game from the bench in the NFL.. most coaches just don't have the time to do that
  19. McDermott's planned the entire time was to sit Josh Allen.. he started the preseason as the QB 3 Even if we had tyrod Taylor level play they weren't going to throw Josh in until the next year.. Peterman being historically bad made the change happen If we had even average they're not making the change that year... A bad organization names the top pick qb1 right out the gate... And throw them to the fire.. we literally gave Josh Allen development from training camp as the qb3 and were trying to hold off Ryan Fitzpatrick or tyrod Taylor would have kept him on the bench for one season and it would help
  20. It's because it's hard to win a super bowl John elway didn't win a super bowl till his penultiman season.. the Buffalo Bills had Hall of Fame rosters with Jim Kelly another Hall of Fame quarterback and never won one I also already made the point that McDermott trying to sit Josh Allen shows his hands are all over it and it shows how smart he is.. because not one quarterback coach in the world would say sitting a rookie quarterback is bad for them It is always the right move and quarterbacks back in the day used to all sit even if they were first round picks.. Drew Brees Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, even Aaron Rodgers and Patrick mahomes Sitting a quarterback is never the wrong idea.. it will only fix your flaws Showing McDermott absolutely new what he was doing.. the only problem was nobody expected Nathan Peterman to be that freaking bad that we had to throw Josh to the fire .. the bills would have went through a 6 in 10 year with Peterman if he didn't throwing an interception every other pass.. even 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions they would have lived with Sitting him 100% the correct coaching call.. that actually gave me more confidence in McDermott than anything because he does have control.. nobody wants to sit your top round quarterback but it is the right decision
  21. There's absolutely not 16 organizations where he's a super bowl winner lol You might as well just say Sean McDermott sucks and so does our organization hahah because football is the ultimate team game Our turnover differential over the last four seasons is ludicrous .. and Josh's had plenty of turnovers besides last year This organization drafts and develops talent better than 28 other franchises .. everybody agrees we have a top-notch front office and scouts and executives and coaches It takes all of that to win.. there are not six other NFL franchises that are better ran top to bottom than the Buffalo Bills who draft and developed better than the Buffalo Bills Again in that same draft two quarterbacks got drafted ahead of Josh because they were considered safer.. the Jets and the browns did not believe they can develop Josh Allen... Because all the scouts agreed he was the most talented he just needed time to be developed If it was surefire that in 3 years you're going to get the best player in the world they both would have drafted him.. but they didn't because their organization did not think they could develop someone with those flaws, and they took a lesser talent who was a cleaner prospect That's the smoking gun that Josh Allen is not a surefire Hall of famer everywhere.. because nobody doubted his talent.. what the browns and jets doubted was his ability to correct flaws
  22. The vast majority of people employed in football do not agree Every GM and scout and coach knows that situations matter.. we have Josh at a 10 out of 10 Could he be a six or a seven out of 10 in some other places? Sure 99% of NFL players never reach their full potential because of circumstances.. aka the organization around them... Josh has maybe five or six places where he becomes the best player in the world 25 other teams he's a talented quarterback with a lot of flaws like Jay Cutler https://www.espn.com/blog/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4792204/would-tom-bradys-career-have-been-the-same-if-not-drafted-by-patriots This article by a former player sums it up.. some organizations world class, some shouldn't be coaching Pop Warner That is what it's like all around the NFL
  23. There is zero NFL coach that would say sitting a quarterback is bad for his career If you have the ability to sit them it is only going to help professional quarterback.. it's the one position where getting thrown to the fire does not really help Josh was playing like a chicken with his head cut off backyard football... If he got the Patrick mahomes treatment he 100% would have came out year two much sharper That's one thing that's not debatable to me.. a talented quarterback who sits is never going to hurt them.. Blake bortles threw for 4,000 yards and 35 touchdowns year 2.. much better than Josh Allen's year 2 stats...you would think that would be signs of development.. but flash in the pan seasons happen.. anybody would be happy with 35 touchdowns and 4,000 yards.. but they didn't develop Blake bortles anymore.. Trevor Lawrence has gotten no development in Jacksonville It takes an entire organization years to develop a quarterback... Years Josh isn't the first big quarterback with a rocket arm who can move.. there are plenty of busts of quarterbacks who are 6'3-6'4-6'5 who had cannons who could move.. with a good work ethic There's a reason why destination has always meant everything in the NFL... Would Josh be a superstar with harbaugh's or Pete Carroll or Reid? Sure! They are A+ coaches who bring A+ staffs And culture 25 other organizations is he the best player in the world? No , he doesn't have enough support and development from those organizations to reach that point.. Josh relies on other people so he needs to rely on the organization... There are external factors to how good Josh Allen looks Go bills !! Enjoy every game there's only x amount left!
  24. I was just throwing it out there... I think the bills after Josh Allen if we still have the coaches in place can develop a solid quarterback Josh Allen has the tools that if he was groomed and coached correctly could take him to world class.. but again the word is groomed and coached correctly Again the browns and jets passed up those world-class traits because they obviously didn't think it was developable... If it was cut and dry he's not falling to seven John elway passed him up.. he was not a cut and dry Hall of Fame player and I am very thankful that it's turned out this way But if it was that simple that he was going to be the best ever.. he's not getting passed up The Buffalo Bills organization absolutely deserves some credit.. of course Josh has a terrific work ethic but so do most NFL players.. the organization does deserve some credit
