  1. Unfortunately, this is probably the most likely scenario. But perhaps it's "if" the Pats get on their feet...
  2. I think this has something to do with it. Now that it's a pay service, they really have to pay attention to what the consumer wants. What they want is less blind scorn and condemnation, and a little more analysis. Doesn't hurt we are 3-1, but we have had hot starts quite a few times and have still gotten the "wait for it" and "told you so" articles from Sully and Bucky. Heck, maybe they can regain some semblance of credibility.
  3. I saw this earlier on gmfb as well. Interesting when he said losing Sammy, Goodwin, and Woods made us "more of a team". Obviously that was McBean's whole idea but good to see players buy in. Also was great when they were trying to get him to say he wanted to beat the Pats, and he stuck to his guns and said the team is focused on Cincinatti.
  4. I think Tolbert is taking up a roster spot for a real backup RB. Sure, we could sign someone and probably get somewhat decent production out of them, but if Shady gets hurt during a game, that game is over. Can we afford to get a L because we wanted a 750 lb backup RB that can't seem to anything well besides block? Everybody acting like this is on par with "zombie apocalypse" or a "meteor", come on now. Shady has missed games for us, is getting old, and gets banged up during every game. This is not a negativity conversation, it's an inevitability conversation. We will need to play someone besides Shady at some point this season, and we should be prepared for that.
  5. That's pathetic. Part of the biggest entertainment company inside these borders, and you can't even put it on freakin' TV? So they play in an old shared stadium in a reportedly bad area, nobody in the stands, and can't even get on TV. Why the hell did they move? If Buffalo had Phillip Rivers for the past decade, the attendance and viewership in the area would be through the roof. Classic example of 2 cities being screwed by shortsighted, greedy ownership. Thank the heavens we weren't bought by a stadium seeking, greedy team mover just to pad their pocketbooks.
  6. Agree with the OP. Tolbert is garbage. But I get what he was trying to do by keeping the big boy. If Shady goes down it's gonna get ugly.
  7. I don't particularly dislike him, but want him to fail simply because he is on the Pats. He's set for life with that contract, so he can ride off into the sunset. Not upset we lost him though. He is almost always in the perfect position, but can't/won't play the ball and is downright afraid to tackle. His dispassionate attitude doesn't exactly endear him to the fanbase. either.
  8. I mean, it's pretty obvious how bad Rex was, and I don't much care to discuss that anymore. Moving on... Situational football is how you get the wins. 3rd down, red zone, 2 minute drill, etc are the most critical points in games. If you do those well, you will win when it matters. Hard to say it's a "Reid" thing though, more like most perrenial contender coaches, of which Reid obviously is. Either way, it's a big compliment to McD to be in this conversation, but as you said he still has a lot to prove. Personally, I know there isn't a large enough sample size to know, but it just feels different to me.
  9. Heck yeah, that's what we do. Lots of WNY transplants in the southeast, so we generally show up to games in that region with a solid contigent. Atlanta fans are not happy about nobody in their stands though. There is debate as to whether it's too expensive or if people are in the shops and bars, but it really shucks home field advantaage from a team when fans aren't out there making noise. God I hate the term Bills Mafia, but I guess once a name sticks.....
  10. Wow I don't understand 3rd really. But it's fun to see/read about. We are 14th in another one I saw earlier today, and I think thats probably more reflective of our real ranking. We have beaten great teams so far, but it's hard to give this team the benefit of the doubt right now. By the time we get to the bye I think we have a better idea. It's so much our style to lose these next 2 to CIN and TB, so once I see those I will feel more informed.
  11. When playing big boy teams, I tend to not believe we will win until the clock hits 0:00 So, yeah. I thought ATL would score and win on that last drive, pacing a hole in the carpet for that final 15 minutes.
  12. I was at both of those games. People were crying in the stands after the Pats game, and they announced over the PA not to storm the field... Was at GB game with my buddy who's a pack fan, and the high fives with other Bills fans right in front of his face were priceless... But I think this win says more. First off, it was in their house. Secondly, they were pretty much consensus #1 power ranked team, and even though NE is always good, we play them so often that just for odds sake we gotta get one here and there. Even fewer and further between than straight odds would even allow. GB put us in line for a possible playoff spot so that is comparable, but the difference is this year the Pats are fallible, and dare I say it is not outlandish to believe the division is a possibility, though probably unlikely.
  13. You can only lose the tie breaker if you have the win. This isn't theoretical physics. Sure, it would be better to beat a conference team, but losing can NEVER help you. Seriously, think about it. If that team you spoke of had not won the game in question, they would not even be in the running to use the tiebreaker. Enough of this haberdashery.
  14. Here we go again. Another shooting using illegal guns and immediately the libs scream for gun control. All the laws in the world won't stop people who are already breaking current laws. I mean, duh. More proof of why they are called talking heads, and not thinking heads.
  15. Boy, you really gotta search the books to be pessimistic enough to find a negative about beating an elite team in their own house. You know what's more impkrtant than tie breakers? Wins. But, you know, you can't please all of the people all of the time, or maybe can't please the OP ever.
  16. Difference is the Rams have the new hot QB, all those weapons on offense, and a good defense. They traded for Sammy thinking he is something like the "final piece". Two weeks ago we were talking about tanking and we just beat two of the best teams in the league. They were supposed to be good, we weren't. Maybe I'm biased, but if they handed it out now, McD probably gets the edge. I think it's still on... but jesus they need to change the name. "Music" Television hasn't played music in over a decade. Not that I want to hear much of what gets considered music these days, but thats an aging curmudgeon's rant for another day.
  17. Perhaps He did say "Bills circling the wagons..." this morning on GMFB. Yeah, I really enjoy the show for the most part (save fantasy and schrager), and it's on at a great time, but boy that Sunday crew is hot garbage.
  18. You know what, that rings a bell. I think you are right on that one.
  19. He was telling a story last week about when he was a beat reporter, I don't remember where exactly, but said he always saw/talked to Bills fans, and something along the lines of we always support the team, are great fans, that we deserve to have a winner, and that the "NFL is a better place when Buffalo is doing good". Said (and I paraphrase b/c Im not 100% sure, but I believe it to be an exact quote) he "always pulls for the Bills". Seemed very sincere about it too, and I got the impression it is a fairly long held belief.
  20. Kyle Brandt this morning on Good Morning Football said, "Sean McDermott is coach of the year through the first quarter of the season", and "The Bills are the best story in the NFL"... Now I know Brandt has a soft spot for Bills fans, but this is high praise in my opinion, and rightfully so. Looks like Sean and co. are the real deal. I am one still not sure if Ty is the franchise, but it is a fair argument that we have faced 2 of the NFLs top defenses, plus a tough Jets D. Hard not to be impressed, and I hope Ty will ball out against some lesser teams. Hopefully we don't do the Billsy thing and lose some gimmes this year after taking down contenders nobody though we would. If we do finish with a winning record, or even more if we make the playoffs, I think it would be hard not to name McD as coach of the year.
  21. That's what I kept saying. If he has such "clearly regained control" as the announcer said,, how come the ball fell harmlessly to the turf 10 feet in front of him?
  22. I think it will be the death of tailgating. I would rather just stay at the Ralph as it is in fine condition. Buffalo doesn't need an architectural attraction to fill the stadium, and the folks here don't have big $$$$ it takes to get tickets at a multi-gillion dollar stadium.
  23. Remember when your dad took that cat "to a nice farm in the country"? Try that.
  24. I completely understamd what you are saying. Let me apply something commonly said by MMA referees upon accidental eye gouges or accidental groin shots "You are responsible for your weapons" True in football. It doesn't mean the player is dirty, or that he had malice aforethought, but you can't allow "benefit of the doubt" because it's a slippery slope. If it's illegal, even if an eagle scoops you up and drops you on a QB, you take the punishment.
