  1. Agree as a basic statement on the QB not being good enough (though Lynn and the Chargers appear to be testing the waters once again in 2020) .. but not sure this 2016 roster was a "SB Roster". Net of Gilmore, the legendary Williams and McCoy at end of his prime not seeing a SB roster below. Offensive Starters QB Tyrod Taylor 27 5 15 269 for 436, 3,023 yards, 17 td, 6 int, & 95 rushes for 580 yards and 6 td Baltimore Ravens / 6th / 180th pick / 2011 RB LeSean McCoy* 28 7 15 234 rushes for 1,267 yards, 13 td, & 50 catches for 356 yards and 1 td Philadelphia Eagles / 2nd / 53rd pick / 2009 WR Marquise Goodwin 26 3 9 29 catches for 431 yards, 3 td Buffalo Bills / 3rd / 78th pick / 2013 WR Sammy Watkins 23 2 8 28 catches for 430 yards, 2 td Buffalo Bills / 1st / 4th pick / 2014 WR Robert Woods 24 3 10 51 catches for 613 yards, 1 td, & 1 rush for 6 yards and 0 td Buffalo Bills / 2nd / 41st pick / 2013 TE Charles Clay 27 5 15 57 catches for 552 yards, 4 td Miami Dolphins / 6th / 174th pick / 2011 LT Cordy Glenn 27 4 11 Buffalo Bills / 2nd / 41st pick / 2012 LG Richie Incognito* 33 10 16 St. Louis Rams / 3rd / 81st pick / 2005 C Eric Wood 30 7 9 Buffalo Bills / 1st / 28th pick / 2009 RG John Miller 23 1 16 1 fumble recovered Buffalo Bills / 3rd / 81st pick / 2015 RT Jordan Mills 26 3 16 1 fumble recovered Chicago Bears / 5th / 163rd pick / 2013 Defensive Starters DE Adolphus Washington 22 Rook 11 Buffalo Bills / 3rd / 80th pick / 2016 DT Kyle Williams* 33 10 15 Buffalo Bills / 5th / 134th pick / 2006 MLB Preston Brown 24 2 16 1.0 sacks, 0 interceptions, 2 fumbles recovered Buffalo Bills / 3rd / 73rd pick / 2014 LB Lorenzo Alexander* 33 9 16 LB Zach Brown* 27 4 16 Tennessee Titans / 2nd / 52nd pick / 2012 LB Jerry Hughes 28 6 15 Indianapolis Colts / 1st / 31st pick / 2010 CB Ronald Darby 22 1 14 Buffalo Bills / 2nd / 50th pick / 2015 CB Stephon Gilmore* 26 4 15 0.0 sacks, 5 interceptions, 0 fumbles recovered Buffalo Bills / 1st / 10th pick / 2012 S Corey Graham
  2. Really Amazing and testament to Beane / McDermott .. that we can even post a thread like this so soon after their regime .. testament to the process after 20 years of losing. Let's go BUFFALO!!!
  3. At first on heels of Texans stupid trade of Hopkins .. thought WOOAHH ... way too much. Now after reading more ... the 5th and 6th were really extra picks from (Bodine / Teller) .. the 4th in 2021 is comp pick for Lawson ... let's call the 6th & 7th exchange fungible ... so we spent a #1 on a proven STUD WR vs. crap shoot draft pick (see list of failed #1 WR picks in recent years) ... Yep .. that's a A in my book.
  4. Love reading the draft profiles of some of these FA's on their 2nd contract ..here's Tyler's. Especially like the NFL Comparison ... shockingly AJ Klein ... so we signed AJ in 2020 and his back-up in same FA class. Nice work Beane. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/tyler-matakevich?id=2555171 The 2015 Bronco Nagurski Award winner and three-time first-team All-American Athletic Conference pick isn't the biggest player on the field but is usually among the most productive. This four-year starter in the middle accumulated over 100 tackles in each season for the Owls, totaling 493 for his career. In his sophomore year, he led the nation with 8.8 solo tackles a game. And his tackles aren't just catching ball carriers after theyve gone through the hole, as he's had 40 stops behind the line of scrimmage. Add in five interceptions and five pass breakups during his award-winning senior campaign, and it appears there's not much Matakevich can't do. Draft Projection Round 7 or priority free agent Sources Tell Us "Not big, not fast and not strong. Hard to make it as an NFL linebacker without those elements. With that said, the kid makes a bunch of plays. Production matters and he has it." -- AFC North Executive NFL Comparison A.J. Klein
  5. Interesting reading about his draft profile https://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2016vbutler.php Player Comparison: Nick Fairley. Fairley has been a good player when motivated. He can be a stout run defender and contributes as a pass-rusher. Like Fairley, Butler has a ton of natural talent. They are similar size and athletic. Fairley was a mid-first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, and Butler could go as high as the middle of Round 1 to early in Round 2. NFL Matches: Buffalo, Washington, Houston, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Arizona, Seattle, Denver, Baltimore, New Orleans, Detroit and New Orleans There are a lot of options for Butler in the first or second round. Kyle Williams is aging for Buffalo, and the Bills could easily address their front seven this offseason. Butler could form a special tandem with Marcel Dareus (2020 edit -- Ed Oliver).
  6. Amen ... love Beane at the reigns and can't wait to see his work in 2020 (starting shortly) ... BRING IT BEANE!!
  7. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/leonard-fournette-purges-instagram-to-make-a-point-about-the-jaguars/ar-BB10K1Wa Seems like wants out of Jacksonville ... his fight on the sidelines in Buffalo aside .. I think he'd be a good compliment (pounder) to Singletary's style for a (4th thru 7th rounder) exchange. Set to make $4.2 Million this year and 5th year option available.
  8. Since its pushing 2 months since last post on this .. wanted to refresh .. as I love this article as we enter FA and draft season. Quote from article Here are the symptoms: You see someone getting very bored with their current football team. They’re just not vibing with it like they used to. And then on the other hand they look and see what’s happening in Buffalo, with Bills Nation. They see a team on the rise, with an exciting core of young studs, two playoff berths in the last three seasons, and the best fans that ever lived. And this is where it gets dangerous: Those people, they think to themselves, Man. I need to get on this Bills bandwagon for next season!! I need to become a Bills fan now. And they try to jump on. I have an important message for those people: DO NOT TRY THIS. DO NOT — I REPEAT, DO NOT — ATTEMPT TO ACCESS THE BILLS BANDWAGON AT THIS TIME. WE ARE CURRENTLY AT CAPACITY. THE BUFFALO BILLS BANDWAGON IS FULL. Thanks Dion
  9. I like the Big Ben reference ... I know you have to squint but below is Big Ben's 1st 3 years ... Year 3 was a dud (18 TD / 23 INTs, 46 sacks, QBR 55) ... I'll take the bet Josh does better in Year 3 and we all know what Big Ben did later in his career (2x SB Winning QB) ... I see Josh as the same as MJT says above .. evolve and move in the pocket like Big Ben ... extend plays ... make unbelievable throws to small windows for many years to come for the enjoyment of the Bills Mafia. That's my Josh Allen Opinion. 10. Pass ... 32 Years Old and over the past two seasons, he allowed 15 touchdowns in coverage, per Pro Football Reference. Looking at some of the touchdowns he gave up in that time reveals a trend: Norman has slowed down. Whether in his top-end speed or his ability to change direction on the spot, Norman isn’t as agile as he used to be.
  11. So Gunner always respect your draft insight ... if someone drops .. who would then have you like them at #22 ... or are you in the trade down camp? I'm not a fan of trade up .. you?
  12. Not sure I agree with CB as #1 for FA .. but GREAT 1st Post ... fact driven ... Welcome to the Board
  13. I lovee what Phillips has done since being cut by the Dolphins and joining the Mafia ... let me repeat cut from the Dolphins ... but if can't work out more economical longer term deal .. rather than franchise .. I'd rather see the $15MM go to the other side of the ball. Granted we have large cap space .. but not sure we invest $15MM in one year's worth of performance.
  14. There is only one .. Buffalo Bills Back up QB ... Frank Reich
  15. Whatever it takes. Some DB we let leave just got Defensive player of the year for the Evil Empire ... no Groundhog Day please .. sign our Goalie!!!
  16. Didn't get one .. as I was working on handing out some NC pulled pork bbq with either vinegar or tangy sauce with some Duke's mayonnaise to the other TBD attendees at the time .. all good. No turf needed ... I just enjoy the memories your lot and Pinto Ron brings to me and my son for our annual last game pilgrimage from NC to WNY. See you in December!
  17. Here's what I know ... it's December 29th, 2019 ... it's week 17 .. virtually no starters are playing the Jets (cause ... we're in the PLAYOFFS baby) .. Hammer's lot was rocking (and he's passing out pieces of old turf to fans with "lucky cards") ... surrounded by friends from around the country before and after a crappy game ... its 48 degrees and raining like hell and the stadium was pretty full. So take your competitive advantage and shove it Roger.
  18. WOW this is easy .. and fairly recent history Coach - Marrone Player - Vontae Davis ... hit the road jack Free Agent (for 3 hours) - Antonio Brown Draft Pick - Watkins (cause he impacted 2 drafts)
  19. I think Trey Wingo said it best earlier this week on Golic and Wingo ... you can't tell the story of the NFL without a Eli reference. Hence HOF. 2 Super Bowl Wins & 2 Super Bowl MVPs = HOF and barring any other retirements this year (Big Ben, Brees, Rodgers, Brady - which I don't see - other SB winning QBs .. not worried about Rivers .. Eli is a 1st ballot HOF.
  20. Keep the kickers ... there would be no Garo in Super Bowl 10 ... comedy gold
  21. Not that my opinion matters .. but I fall with Doc Brown on this. Yes I too was use to the NYC draft at radio city music hall and scratched my head when it moved. But after seeing the inside / outside vibe in Chicago, Philly .. and Nashville was 100% outdoors ... those crowds are raucous and provide a draft event to much larger audiences than the Radio City Music hall. So yes .. I have converted and love the draft road show. I see it like traveling to a Bills Road Game .. you can check out different cities and root for the Bills ... what's the harm. I also believe .. that NFL fans do come out in force and spend money .. is it to the multiples listed by locals ... maybe not .. but to say it doesn't provide a positive economic impact to the businesses in the general area of said event is also short sighted. Think of it like the NBA and MLB all star games ... same concept .. different cities (who have a said home team) are treated to a league wide event. Though I'm saving my Las Vegas trip for the Raiders/Bills Game in 2020.
  22. I agree that the 1st round is littered with busts .. but completely disagree from a position perspective with a broad brush that one can't make argument based on position .... just look at RB & LB's, in last 3 years of drafts and tell me their success rate isn't greater than WR's for the same 3 years (see original post). RB's - Jacobs, Barkley, McCaffrey, Michel, and Fournette LB's - Edmunds, Bush, Gary, Josh Allen, Roquan Smith, Vander Esch, TJ Watt
