  1. This ^. Didn't he have some neck injury concerns? Missed a lot of games due to it if I recall correctly.
  2. At TE in the draft, they hit it out of the park. Tyler who? A 3rd and a 7th round pick rookie not only making the final roster, but showing up all over the place in games. It seems unusual to not see 88 or 89 on the field with the offense. It's common to see both and we do have a proven vet in Lee Smith. Sweeney was a nice surprise in preseason and Knox was such an unknown. Not anymore! Rambo ain't no joke! He can do it all. Blocks like he was born to do it. McBeane added two great weapons to this offense on the cheap. Really impressed with this GM and his staff. It feels weird to have that feeling about our front office AND coaching staff as a Bills fan. Ed Oliver must be doing something right. The last game I noticed the guards on him are taking a step back before engaging him. I don't think that was the case in preseason and didn't pay attention in the Jets and Giants games. It was very noticeable last Sunday though. He's definitely getting in their heads. It feels like he's just starting to really adjust his game to the pros and is getting into a good groove. I really liked this pick. I really like this kid. He's a powerhouse, top-flight talent but not a d-head or a diva at all. Seems to have been raised right by his folks. That's always refreshing in pro sports. Another solid pick by this front office.
  3. Great thread, Fergy. I wanted in order: 1. Mayfield (I'm a big Sooners fan) 2. Darnold 3. Rosen (smh) 4. Allen I knew next to nothing about JA at the time. Thought that Beane definitely had some brass ones to make that pick. The more I found out about Allen, the more I liked him. The guy is just a good, genuine person. Very natural like no stage is too big for him. Very raw of course but also extremely hungry to prove himself with real competition. Seeing his 85 yard bombs at his pro day got me a little bit excited too. Aside from his occasional awful INT's, what's not to like about him? Having been a Bills fan for 30 years now, it's a very strange feeling to feel so great about the QB situation. Real, genuine hope. With guys like Fitz and Tyrod, you knew they had a ceiling and so you tempered your optimism accordingly. Things feel very differently now. Now let's get some friggin' W's and a few dozen SB rings!
  4. True dat! One of these days one of those fellas' stomach is gonna explode right there at the competition table. Isn't it bound to happen eventually? I'd hate to be the one cleaning that up.
  5. Sorry Kirby. With all due respect to a long-timer here on TBD, and one I do respect, but you are "that guy" with that response. Seriously, the guy is very young and incredibly gifted physically. 30 wings is a far cry better than, say 30 hot dogs. I'm sure by Sunday he won't, in all likelihood, have any lingering effects from said wings (knock on wood - I am superstitious and if I don't write that he'll be out for 4 weeks with a stomach illness or something). Let the man live a little. Besides, he's from Texas so he's probably used to spicy food already. Just my 2 cents. I'll step down from my soapbox now.
  6. That schedule here on out looks awfully promising. .. They the Bills are playing right now, giving the stronger teams (presently) the W's: Losses: -Pats (Booo!) -Iggles -'Boys (only because they look solid now - in reality getting stomped by our Bills on Turkey Day) -Ravens (Nevermore!) -Pats (Booo again!) -Jests (just a gimme b/c of the Darnold factor though this team is doomed with Gase at the helm. Gase is a terrible leader) That leaves potential, very realistic IMO, Wins: 7 more = 10 & 6 season??????? And I really think the Eagles and Boys are beatable by a quality D, and well, you know the Jests deal. Imagine if our O gets some consistency going down the road. I think we all feel how scary this team can be, potentially. ???? Everybody knock on a lot of wood furniture for the next several weeks.
  7. Nice post, OP. I was totally unaware of that. Definitely gives me a lot of optimism actually. We have a good one here now....finally!!! Let's enjoy the ride! We freakin' deserve it!
  8. This is my indulgent fantasy too, man. We can dream can't we? If only.
  9. Same here, bro. If there's something I cannot deny about myself is that I am def a d------kkkk myself and way too often. One thing I need to work on is letting others speak their minds without me criticizing their opinion no matter how much I might disagree with it and/or the delivery of it. Oh another is I have to remember that, trolls aside, we're all BUFFALO BILLS fans here in spite of everything. No matter how much I disagree with a Bills fan, they're still like family to me in some measure. You can't go through 4 Super Bowl losses in a row (still hurts to write that) and still stay loyal to this great team and great and not be like blood to me. If I may, I think your thoughts would be much more appreciated if you toned down your approach a bit. For me, it means stepping back and not posting that first, blistering response (when I can help it) until I calm down a bit. I'm the guy that shouldn't be sending that email that I'm going to regret almost immediately but can't help it most of the time anyway. Yeah that guy. The Mahomes situation is going to haunt is all for a long time, unfortunately. Like Gronk (Torell Troup, really?) we'll likely have to be mentally abused by that mistake for years. Mahomes is crazy good -great. Like probably once-in-a-generation great. Part of me is still in denial about him, definitely a big part of why I don't like hearing about him anymore. And he's going to give us like a hundred things each and every weekend to make us shake our heads and cry a little. (this is good therapy for me). I guess I feel you Mahomes guys more now. Anyway, no hard feelings. Glad we can see eye-to-eye now. Good posting to you sir.
  10. I change my mind. You are very wise person. And I mean that sincerely. I need to be listening more to what you're saying and talking (typing) less.
  11. Wow. Got under your skin there a little I guess. Didn't mean to. You have to admit you are very condescending a lot though, bro. Come on now. It doesn't hurt my feelings to hear about Mahomes I'm just tired of it. You cannot change the future. That is a fact at the moment. He's awesome. We get it. We all feel that pain man. We'll feel it every time we see his highlights tearing it up for KC (like every week). It just gets tiring though. We got a pretty good project here now. I'm enjoying that. I didn't follow the Bills when they were putting together those SB teams, I got onboard right before that first SB. I hope this is second round of at least that. I'm not going to waste anymore time worrying about what could have been. What was a gripe thread about eveything anyway. I needed to gripe. Sweetheart? That's awesome! I love that one! I am prone to melt downs for sure though. I'll agree with you there. But I have some really good meds right now so things are kind of good now. Seriously, if you act like a dikkkkkkk I'm gonna call you on it once it awhile. That's just my nature. I can't change because this is online. I'd have to not participate at all. No hard feelings, bro. I usually post those butt-head ones early in the morning before the coffee really kicks in. I'll try to stay away from yours around then I guess. Peace! Gugny I love you, man. This is absolutely awesome!!!!
  12. One would like to think it would, somehow. But BB is the dark master. He's proved it time and time again. My dream is that McD and Daboll have a lot up their sleeves for BB and Brady but don't want to tip their hands until it's absolutely necessary - maybe 2nd meeting or playoff game? One can always dream, eh?
  13. Unless you're just being funny...c'mon bro! (no offense) This is the Bills and it's still very early in the season. Unfortunately I expect a lop-sided game and Buffalo is not going to be on the good side of that. BB is just too good and this Bills team, Allen especially, is just too young. I mean, of course I want the Bills to stomp the living crappola out of NE but I've been a Bills fan too long to bet money on that. FWIW, if this plays out I expect the next meeting to be a real slug-fest and the Bills might even win.
  14. Over-reliance on the 4 up front to get it done and it ain't happening yet. Spurts of a dominating rush but underwhelming the rest. This D is very young and that includes the line. Probably going to improve as the season goes on just from experience...hopefully anyway. I was screaming at my screen "knock his ass down!" those last drives. I guess they couldn't hear me though.
  15. Let's all find some wood and knock on it...and again...and again...every time we talk about the D this season because they will be pretty doggone good. They have the talent and they have the coaches and Leslie Frasier knows how to call a great game most of the time. The thing that makes me sleep better at night is knowing that McDermott, if absolutely necessary (like the San Diego game last year), can step in and make the defensive calls himself. It was very extreme and I can tell he would rather never do that again. But he can and he can really mix it up and stop the bleeding. The man knows his defense. That is a very, very good thing to have. I love that they built this great D all the while doing a massive rebuild and we can already enjoy the fruits this early on. Hats off the Beane and McD cause that ain't easy. I do think they can be suspect at times like yesterday. Cincinnati saw something in the zones or something and Dalton started hitting those passes and killing us. Maybe that's Frasier's calling. IDK but we won and the D, in the end, still kept Cinci to 17 points. That is something we'll take every week. That is a championship caliber team. This D kind of reminds of Wade Phillips' teams. Remember when we had a top 5 defense every year with him, and bottom 5 offense? If we had that D during the SB years, we'd have some rings right now. It was lock-down, pin-down, suffocate them good. The games were so boring to watch most of the time. They couldn't score on that D and we couldn't light it up with those offenses. The thing that gets me giddy about our immediate future is it looks like we might, just maybe, somehow, get both for once. Fingers crossed. edit: Just started reading that article actually and it's a great write up. Very nice to get some respect. These guys on D really deserve it.
  16. Yeah he seemed to be unaware of blind side blitzes too many times. He’s gonna get killed if he can’t change that AND they improve his protection for that side. There was a blind side hit to his back early on that’s a prime example. He’s tough but he’s still human.
  17. We’ll have to agree to disagree then in part then. I don’t think a lot of people understand how different Allen’s path to the pros was and how much his development differed from the usual big school QB’s. I was actually just comparing him to Rosen, Mayfield, and Darnold there specifically. I’m in total agreement with your statement about the Favre type they definitely got in JA. That’s a great comparison and the fumbles worry me the most too right now. He holds that ball out way too much. We can be confident that he can stop those stupid interceptions like yesterday. Gotta do something about those fumbles or it’s going to be his Achilles heal.
  18. Absolutely! We have to temper our sky high expectations and remember how underdeveloped he is still. The the other guys played at big schools with big-time programs that played other big schools. They were so much better prepared for the pros the day they walked off campus for the last time. Allen is doing incredible when you really put it into perspective. It's probably at least in part because he was in that amazing draft class that people always automatically compare him to the others. What Allen played and played against at Wyoming was nothing compared to the big school programs. Considering he's already handicapped and set back a few years behind his peers in that draft, he's doing pretty amazing right now. We really better prepare for another year or two of bumps and scrapes before we can expect 10+ win seasons. Don't be dissapointed or give up on Allen if that happens. It should be expected. From what we have seen so far of his positives, the sky really is the limit for him.
  19. Yeah he really seems unflappable and never, ever gives up. Overcoming a lot of bad stuff already shows his grit and lets us keep hope alive on day s like today.
  20. I sincerely hope Daboll has some really great stuff up his sleeve for the Pats. If they don't, BB will eat Allen alive again this year.
  21. I'm usually not one to support the naysayers but I feel it's warranted right now. It's realistic at this point. Allen proved it with that STUPID pick today. Atrocious! He just cannot, absolute cannot do that anymore. I think we all sense this could be very powerful offense if they can put together a complete game without turnovers. We gotta remember that JA is still extremely raw though. Realistically we may not see a ton of success this season as he still has so much more to learn that he didn't get a chance to in college.
  22. Is it just me, or are they pass-happy in the 1st half building up points and runs mainly go up-the-gut then in the 2nd half, when they have Singletary, they start mixing up run plays with those beautifully blocked off-tackle and outside runs? It's a brilliant plan if you can execute it THE ENTIRE GAME, which they are clearly not able to do yet. It's kinda sorta keeping it on the pedal, if they can execute. Get the opposing defense on it's heals with the passing game first, the demoralize then and break their spirit with a dynamic run game to close it out. We saw what it can do in the 2nd half of the Jets game. I don't know. Maybe just wishful thinking. I do feel like getting in a bunch of passing out of the gate is at least building experience for Allen much more rapidly than establishing the run game first which works but is also pretty boring unless they're breaking off 30 yard runs all day. Definitely stinking up the join BIG TIME in 3rd quarters so far. You have to think it's due in some part to defenses making half-time adjustments. Again, maybe wishful thinking. Something is definitely not working after the half and it sucks the life out of games that should be high scoring.
