  1. Okay, I hope he's good because that would be the highest paid OLman by at least $5-6 million per year
  2. If the team has enough holes on the roster, then I would think you would want even more $ to spend on those holes. Given that Glenn has barely played and is at a real risk to continue not playing, that is a hole that already exists. Hypothetical: you have 4/5 OL positions filled with viable starters who all cost below average salaries - do you then pay the 5th OLman $20 million per year just because the other 4 offset it?
  3. Don't you want to have the best balance of cost/talent at every position? I'd take a top 15 RT at $8-9 million per year over Glenn at $14 million per year.
  4. I agree FA could change things. I do think that if they think the 3rd QB in the draft is still a franchise caliber prospect, then who cares if he's the 3rd QB? Eli Manning and Rivers have had great careers, but I would go back and trade the farm for Roethlisberger, wouldn't you? I mean I love Lee Evans, but c'mon now.
  5. The problem is you're still making Glenn the highest paid RT in the league by far when you could find a serviceable starter for 1/2 to 2/3 of his price. Plus, you could probably trade him for a pick or player. If you have a good young cheap WR1 you still don't want to make your WR2 the highest paid WR2 in the league.
  6. If he's willing to restructure, then yeah I think he would be a top 5, if not the best, backup in the league and the ultimate Joe Webb type of gadget/trick play guy. Get him some reps as a HB/WR, too. Why not?
  7. Pick one: (A) best front 7 in the league but Peterman starts (B) below average front 7 but we have a franchise QB
  8. Yeah, I already kind of regret voting how I did if this is assuming availability of these options. Mayfield is my favorite prospect who we stand a chance to draft. Very interested to see his height, although if he's 5'11" I'm not going to count him out anyways. Heck, maybe that drops him a bit... in a good way.
  9. All three are solid NFL starters, no? I would say that means "good QBs" and not "busts" (words from your post). You're going to argue not to take anyone who could get injured? Okay, then we never take a QB. Anyone can get injured. Good job ignoring the "[g]oing back a little bit further" part of my post though.
  10. If it only took two 1sts to get Mayfield, right now I really like him as a prospect, so I would choose that. BUT, I think he's going to go higher than two 1sts will get us, so I choose Rudolph and Jackson. BUT BUT, I also am not convinced that Rudolph and/or Jackson even make it to 21. I think there is going to be a run on QBs in the first and there are a lot of teams ahead of us who could go that route. Either way, I fully support taking 2 QBs. Mayfield & Falk, Rudolph & Jackson, Allen & Lock, whoever. Hedge your bets is my point.
  11. RGIII had talent, just hampered by injuries. Same with Bradford. Dalton. Tannehill. Going back a little bit further, Kordell Stewart. Oh, and that Troy Aikman guy was okay. But let's keep talking in absolutes.
  12. I honestly don't think we'll straight up cut any big names, but I bet Taylor is either restructured or traded and Glenn is traded.
  13. There's two things that go into a press conference: the press and a conference.
  14. This makes me trust the process. Win within the limitations of the rules of the game.
  15. DeFilippo is intriguing. Any QB coach who has proven able to develop a young QB should be in play, and it's tough argue with how Wentz looked this year.
  16. That's $14 million for a RT. Higher by any other starting RT by $3 million.
  17. Why didn't the Browns keep Belichick? Jags keep Coughlin? Dungy, Carroll, Kubiak, Vermeil, Gruden, etc. I'm not saying Dorsey is necessarily going to end up on par with that list, but the point is that getting fired is not a death sentence in the NFL coaching world.
  18. I'm hoping we can fill at least one starter between OG/DT/DE/LB from FA. Hopefully, like I said before, we can then get (in this trade scenario) two starters in rounds 2 and 3 at OG/DT/DE/LB. Worst case scenario then is we have a QB and one of either Ducasse, Washington, Yarbrough, or Alexander as a starter (assuming Milano has earned a starting LB spot).
  19. From what I'm hearing re: Shula, it sounds like Dorsey would be a better option. Fits the young, hopefully inventive and innovative, OC mold that has more of a ceiling.
  20. Just haggling And this only happens if OBD determines Mayfield is a franchise guy. But that's well worth it if they do indeed think that. Right now, and I've looked at zero tape, but my gut tells me that Mayfield is the clear cut QB3 of this draft and will be a good starter. An upgraded roster isn't doing anything if we have no QB, ya know? Unless we're going the Jags D with Bortles route, which... yeah, no. I'd be okay with Mayfield, and using the other high picks to hopefully grab 2 BPAs at OG/DT/DE/LB.
  21. No they'll do it because their highly paid franchise QB has had the $#!+ beat out of him and missed this whole season. If you do 21, 22, our 2nd round pick, and Glenn (who would be valued as a high 3rd round pick, not terrible for a starting LT), then that equals out.
