  1. Damn, never considered that angle, thanks. Gotta give that some thought beyond my knee-jerk reaction.
  2. @Mr. WEO - did you delete your post that started our back and forth? I can't find it. Found my initial response and didn't see anything a mod might stomp out. Anyway, was looking back to make sure I didn't misconstrue your point of view.
  3. JMO, but the pre-game stuff I've seen from Vegas is embarrassingly bad, feels like WWF.
  4. JMO, but choosing to draft a punter and bringing in a punter to replace or compete with the guy on the roster are two different things. Not sure how many teams field undrafted punters but at a minimum we can start with the Giants. Do you think that Araiza will never be given a shot at an NFL roster spot? I think he will.
  5. First of all, why should I tell you why no teams haven't signed Araiza to this point? I've yet to make any claims that any team should or will, I've only questioned your assertions. I could make any number of guesses as to why nobody has signed him yet, but it would all be baseless speculation. On the other hand I will be surprised if some team doesn't bring him in before next season based solely on his football resume.
  6. For the record I pushed my FIL down a flight of steps after Pete didn't run out the ball to short. Happy with the end result for the Mets but this isn't sustainable for the Mets or my marital bliss. On a more serious note, got my kid home from college and we were watching the game tonight. I lost it when Pete didn't run out the ground ball...but then told him that Pete would have a big hit. As an eternal optimist that might have been the blind squirrel finding the nut. I think we are coming out of the rut of the past month and we'll see much much better baseball out of the Mets going forward - but it still feels like winning a WS this year is a pipe dream.
  7. Yippee for me. IMO, that minor point doesn't diminish your overall thoughts on the matter - but I'm still at a loss over the draft afterthought comment. Putting that aside - can you comment further on your assertion that "No other team wants him either". How do you know this? More to the point, are you claiming that no team will ever sign him?
  8. You're losing me - a quick google of the definition of afterthought definition: an item or thing that is thought of or added later. Calling a guy that got drafted a draft afterthought makes no sense to me. BTW, 6th round, 180th overall, no?
  9. Araiza was drafted - how does that make him a draft afterthought?
  10. A few years ago at a Little League game one of the fathers was the announcer. Not sure if he stole this line from someone else, but when his son came to the plate it went something like this: Up next is Aidan. Why is Aidan so skinny? Because his mother can't cook. In our house we say prayers AFTER we eat.
  11. We've used them for family trips and to take my son to college. Last August I had a Pacifica, what a great vehicle. Funny thing it was kind of tricked out - black car w/ black rims, low profile tires and tinted windows. I felt like the Dad that was still trying to look cool - and failing.
  12. May I mambo dogface to the banana patch? (Steve Martin)
  13. Last night was another night where I was half-interested but this time circumstances beyond my control prevented me from seeing any of the good stuff. As I was waiting outside the HS to pick up my son I heard the Vientos HR on the radio. Got home and had the game on while I was doing other stuff and when they got the first runner on in the 9th I had a good feeling (I'm an eternal optimistic) - just in time to get a call that we had to run over to my in-laws to help my father-in-law who had taken a fall and couldn't get up. Got that situation under control just in time to to get a text from my college kid asking if we saw the ending. I assumed it was a 9th inning comeback - found out later the full scope. Missed the game today as I was driving south for the end of semester pick up. First series win since forever. Despite my optimism this just feels like a lost year. But if I put on my happy hat: Senga was outstanding last night, Verlander had a bad outing but looked very good in his other starts, Quintana may be coming back soon, looks like Megill had a good outing and we can hope (dream?) that Scherzer returns to some semblance of his dominant self.
  14. To be honest, I've been watching a lot less of the Mets over the past few weeks, mostly due to the poor play and the feeling that losing is inevitable. I'll try to watch tonight to see if Verlander can help right the ship. I don't necessarily feel like Cohen needs to make a public scene - but I was watching the recent game where the Mets got interfered with and without seeing a definitive replay at first told my son that Buck needed to get himself ejected. When he did get thrown out I told my son he needed to go ballistic ala Earl Weaver or Tommy LaSorda but Buck didn't take it to that extreme. But I don't see the need for Cohen to throw gas on the fire, it won't make Pedersen any better and I prefer when owner leave the day-to-day to the sports people. BTW, can you imagine if the Mets signed Correa and he got off to the same poor start he's having?
  15. Oh no, here it comes again Can't remember when we came so close to love before
  16. Never trade you for the world Never do the things I used to I guess it's not good enough This I see But I'll remember happier times
  17. I've rented minivans a number of times and have nothing but good things to say about them, they are effin great. And yet I have no interest in owning one. Probably a stupid stigma of how I'd be perceived if that was my ride,
  18. 1973 Dodge Dart, Used, Powder Blue - awesome in it's non-awesomeness with a slant 6 that wouldn't die 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, New, Gun Metal Gray - loved it, but a poor choice once I started skiing 1994 Ford Explorer Sport, New, Cayman Green - two-door, manual tranny, my fave 2002 Ford Explorer, New, Mineral Gray -a concession to starting a family - my least fave 2013 Santa Fe Sport, New, same color as 2002 - very well appointed but a bit small and definitely under powered 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Used, Red/Burgundy - still happy 3 months in.
