  1. You're losing me - a quick google of the definition of afterthought definition: an item or thing that is thought of or added later. Calling a guy that got drafted a draft afterthought makes no sense to me. BTW, 6th round, 180th overall, no?
  2. Araiza was drafted - how does that make him a draft afterthought?
  3. A few years ago at a Little League game one of the fathers was the announcer. Not sure if he stole this line from someone else, but when his son came to the plate it went something like this: Up next is Aidan. Why is Aidan so skinny? Because his mother can't cook. In our house we say prayers AFTER we eat.
  4. We've used them for family trips and to take my son to college. Last August I had a Pacifica, what a great vehicle. Funny thing it was kind of tricked out - black car w/ black rims, low profile tires and tinted windows. I felt like the Dad that was still trying to look cool - and failing.
  5. May I mambo dogface to the banana patch? (Steve Martin)
  6. Last night was another night where I was half-interested but this time circumstances beyond my control prevented me from seeing any of the good stuff. As I was waiting outside the HS to pick up my son I heard the Vientos HR on the radio. Got home and had the game on while I was doing other stuff and when they got the first runner on in the 9th I had a good feeling (I'm an eternal optimistic) - just in time to get a call that we had to run over to my in-laws to help my father-in-law who had taken a fall and couldn't get up. Got that situation under control just in time to to get a text from my college kid asking if we saw the ending. I assumed it was a 9th inning comeback - found out later the full scope. Missed the game today as I was driving south for the end of semester pick up. First series win since forever. Despite my optimism this just feels like a lost year. But if I put on my happy hat: Senga was outstanding last night, Verlander had a bad outing but looked very good in his other starts, Quintana may be coming back soon, looks like Megill had a good outing and we can hope (dream?) that Scherzer returns to some semblance of his dominant self.
  7. To be honest, I've been watching a lot less of the Mets over the past few weeks, mostly due to the poor play and the feeling that losing is inevitable. I'll try to watch tonight to see if Verlander can help right the ship. I don't necessarily feel like Cohen needs to make a public scene - but I was watching the recent game where the Mets got interfered with and without seeing a definitive replay at first told my son that Buck needed to get himself ejected. When he did get thrown out I told my son he needed to go ballistic ala Earl Weaver or Tommy LaSorda but Buck didn't take it to that extreme. But I don't see the need for Cohen to throw gas on the fire, it won't make Pedersen any better and I prefer when owner leave the day-to-day to the sports people. BTW, can you imagine if the Mets signed Correa and he got off to the same poor start he's having?
  8. Oh no, here it comes again Can't remember when we came so close to love before
  9. Never trade you for the world Never do the things I used to I guess it's not good enough This I see But I'll remember happier times
  10. I've rented minivans a number of times and have nothing but good things to say about them, they are effin great. And yet I have no interest in owning one. Probably a stupid stigma of how I'd be perceived if that was my ride,
  11. 1973 Dodge Dart, Used, Powder Blue - awesome in it's non-awesomeness with a slant 6 that wouldn't die 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, New, Gun Metal Gray - loved it, but a poor choice once I started skiing 1994 Ford Explorer Sport, New, Cayman Green - two-door, manual tranny, my fave 2002 Ford Explorer, New, Mineral Gray -a concession to starting a family - my least fave 2013 Santa Fe Sport, New, same color as 2002 - very well appointed but a bit small and definitely under powered 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Used, Red/Burgundy - still happy 3 months in.
  12. On the banks of the deep end Where your soul is your best friend Searchin' for a reason To go astray
  13. French girl has a problem French girl has a problem with the world She sees it as a black place A place that wants to strangle her good time Don't ever get involved with a french girl
  14. Rise Throw away The charade of your life Let the flame of my heart Burn away Your complacence tonight
  15. He'll do you up a treat, mate.
  16. And could these ceilings Contain my feelings Me down on the floor Jerked my fountain Ice cream mountains I suppose I'm just too late Form a line here I think I'll die here These people nauseate me
  17. One of my favorite lines from the entire series. I wonder if he actually blew the line (adding "This guy...") and they realized it was funnier. My teens think it's great. IMO the great sitcoms are more about the characters that you grow to love/hate more than the storylines and Seinfeld had many great characters. Beyond the cast of 4 there were great secondary/recurring characters (Newman, Peterman, the Seinfelds, the Constanza's...), less-frequent recurring characters (Putty, Jackie Chiles, Poppy, Babu Bhatt, Banya,...) and then celebrities (Mets, Yankees, Mel Torme, Bette Midler,....). I'll leave with one of my other favorite lines, Elaine's curmudgeon father's comment about Jerry being a comedian: We had a funny guy with us in Korea. A tailgunner. They blew his brains out all over the Pacific. There's nothing funny about that!
  18. I disagree - and totally get that I'm in the minority. Sanders was amazing, can't think of anyone else that made tacklers miss like he could. But for my taste he got caught for losses dancing behind the line way too often. Never elevated his team past mediocrity during an era that relied a lot more on RB's.
  19. If I could guarantee his health that would be my choice too.
