  4. Great point. There's always a rush to judgement on trades but this one has taken some serious twists and turns. Kelenic would have to become a perennial all-star before this trade would look bad to me - and that would still only be if Diaz doesn't return to a semblance of last year. On a separate note @ExWNYer @Gugny - have any of you checked out the latest daily puzzle: Immaculate Grid https://www.immaculategrid.com/ It's a lot of fun. I rarely go 9-9. What's fun for me is comparing notes with my boys. They kill me with the current players and I kill them with the old timers. They've labeled players that played for a ton of teams 'cheat codes'. Good times.
  5. I got the shotgun blues Shotgun blues I said I don't know what I did But I know I gotta move
  6. Good stuff as always. We were down by Knoxville, TN for the winning streak - and I kept my fingers off the keyboard to avoid the jinx too. When the Mets went up 5-0 last night I told my son that it would be a 5-4 nail biter going into the 9th. Right idea, wrong score but that's what we've come to expect with this team. Carrasco is given 8 runs and can't make it out of the 5th. Ugh. I think you're probably right about the Mets standing pat and how the season will play out. The intrigue to me is Verlander/Scherzer. The thought of going into next season relying on them again is uninspiring. Plus the Mets moved up Verlander's start by a day so he'll get two starts before the trade deadline: The Mets are off on July 31 and 6 p.m. on Aug. 1 is the trade deadline. So I grabbed Showalter to ask if one plus Aug. 1 equals why Verlander was being positioned for one extra July start. He responded, “You do the math.” Then he paused and added, “Of course.” https://nypost.com/2023/07/16/mets-may-make-max-scherzer-justin-verlander-trade-options/
  7. @Another Fan @ExWNYer @Gugny How you guys living? Hope summer is going well. Fun fact: my summer vacation coincided perfectly win the 6 game winning streak, lol. Lost a few games before we left town and resumed to their losing ways the day we came back. Any thoughts on how to approach the trade deadline? The link below is worth a read- just skip the first three paragraphs. Basic premise is that the juice isn't worth the squeeze wrt being sellers and trying to get prospects back. I think it ignores the opportunity to not start next season with Max and/or Verlander. https://nypost.com/2023/07/17/mets-surrendering-at-trade-deadline-would-just-be-a-waste-of-time/
  8. I beg your pardon I never promised you a rose garden
  9. Growing up we had a net in our garage - just had to ask Mom or Dad to move the car, drop the net down and I was at the driving range! I was never a great golfer but I could drive the ball better than most. After college I played less and less and got worse and worse to the point where I lost my swing. The game got too frustrating and I didn't have the will/time to get better so I stopped playing. Went to TopGolf a few months ago and it was flat out embarrassing. Going again tomorrow and am expecting the same. These days I play disc golf pretty regularly. Much less aggravating for me.

  15. Try, Oh try But each time a part of me dies And I'm left for dead Pull myself back from the edge Sit still and close my eyes Those thoughts all invading my mind Just quietly push them aside Focus on nothing but me and... Just remember to breathe
  16. This one's in my area. Case has been cold for over 10 years, it'll be interesting to learn what they found in the past year or so - and how long he was a suspect.
  17. First time I can remember opening a thread and not being able to read the content without an extra click. Right now I'm cursing my memory but thanking my past self.
  18. For nostalgia reasons: PBR. As a broke college freshman it was my go-to cuz it was $2.69 for a 6-pack of tall boy cans and it was drinkable.
  19. Years ago I started a new job and the best route included a merge where cars were coming off the highway and I was coming down the service road. Without exception, cars coming off the highway acted like they had the right of way. After a few close calls -in part due to my insistence not to give in I decided I'd be better off taking a slightly longer route to work to avoid the daily stress and unnecessary auto body work that was sure to come. One of my most contentious traffic merges was coming into the GWB from the Jersey side. It was late 80's and I was driving a banged up '73 Dodge Dart - I had the least amount to lose of anyone and had one car that had to be inches from me - eventually he gave in.
