  1. Last year we got a glimpse into the locker room with post-game speeches when they won and some nice moments between McDermott and Kyle. They appeared to be in lock step to me. I also remember Dareus looking like a bystander in at least one before he was shipped out. We don't get that type of insight with all of the losses this year.
  2. The difference to me is the notion that you're actually trying to lose any individual game. At best, I think that's rare. Setting up your roster for a re-build with the understanding that it will be more difficult to win games is not tanking to me. So are we tanking? IMO, no. But it's been so bad this year that it's reasonable to question their ability to re-build. I'll stay hopeful since rooting for another team and quitting on the sport aren't options for me right now.
  3. This is admittedly off topic but kind of funny. Late 90's my friend got 4 seats down low behind home plate at Yankee Stadium. The other 3 went for a smoke and dismissed me when I said they probably couldn't smoke in the stadium. When they were approached by a security dude telling them they couldn't smoke where they were, they asked (flippantly) where they could. Security dude opened a gate and told them they could smoke out there. My brain surgeon friends didn't figure out they'd been ejected until they tried to get back in. As to OP and why you should go to a home game? Seems simple to me. You've been on a weeks long crusade about how awesome this years offense is so why would you pass up an opportunity to see it in person?
  4. A short while ago after washing the dishes, I'm walking by the TV on the way to taking the garbage out and I see Amed Rosario getting high fives in the dugout. He had just hit a HR. Apparently there's a Japan All Star Series going on. Nice surprise, I was oblivious to this series/tour but my boys found it on TV. Looks like a lot of young major league talent...anchored by Yadier Molina. I know he put the last nail in the coffin in us way back when, but I have the utmost respect for him. Next at bat Amed lined one up the middle.
  5. I was at that game a few years back. At the time Reggie Bush was the supposed jewel of the draft for the Jets. Bills went ahead late but the Jets returned the kick for 6. All the Jets fans were screaming Noooooooooo as the run back unfolded. Jets ended up picking 4th and landed D'Brickashaw which turned out to be a better pick.
  6. What she said. Only thing I'd add is if I'm stuck behind someone in the left lane and someone's approaching fast I'm not moving over. Happens a lot on a two lane highway near me.
  7. I was at the game with a friend who is a big Jets fan, my brother-in-law (another freaking Jets fan) gave us his season tickets a few rows from the top of the stadium in the end zone. A day before the forecast was for a miserable windy, cold, rainy day. I was dressed for the worst and ended up sweating my ass off. I don't think it rained heavily during the game. Midway through the 2nd quarter a guy and his gf come up to the top of the stadium and offer us his field level end zone tix. Said he wanted to hang with his friends up top. With nothing to lose we head down at half-time and end up maybe 15-20 rows from the field. Absolutely correct on the botched FG, happened right in front of us. It ended up being the 6th interception of the day for the Jets. An ugly ugly game for sure but I have fond memories of it. http://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=291018020
  8. What's your over/under on the number of games it takes to evaluate a head coach? And is roster talent something to consider? If so, how is that factored in?
  9. Check out Boatdrinks response correcting my error. He corrected me and addressed the point. You dismissed the point based on my error. To me your response was pissy, and that made me huffy. You reap what you sow.
  10. OK, so if I had said the following would you have been less pissy: We all know about Belichik, but what we'll never know is whether the Browns Ravens trophy case would be full of Lombardi's if they had retained him.
  11. Factually true, but tangential and irrelevant to the discussion.
  12. We all know about Belichik, but what we'll never know is whether the Browns trophy case would be full of Lombardi's if they had retained him. Nice call on Carroll. Not sure if Reid fits the criteria.
  13. Fair enough, that wasn't my reason for backing the question, I think the fire (insert name) threads have become incessant and tiresome. IMO McBeane will and should get through this time next year at a minimum.
  14. You're assertion is exactly why OP posed the question. Is there a counter argument or examples that refute it? One that I can think of is Joe Torre, but that's a different sport. By and large he was a failure as a manager for the Mets, Braves and Cardinals, but became a genius as manager of the Yankees (and yes, the last part is sarcasm).
  15. Wow, I misread it as Redhawks, eyes and brain saw what they expected. What's a Redblack? Nickname for Canadian Mounties?
  16. Some time between June 17 and today I saw a segment where they asked George Brett what he'd have done if they over shifted him back in the day and he said he would have hit .400 every year. Not everyone has the bat control of a guy like Brett, but dropping a bunt down third doesn't seem like too much to ask. Or at least it shouldn't be.
  17. After an Ottawa Redhawks TD, an offensive lineman ran to the stands, grabbed a can of beer from a fan (I think it was his GF), chugged it and best of all crushed it on his helmet. ESPN had a better clip, but I found this one: http://larrybrownsports.com/football/cfl-player-jon-gott-chugs-beer-touchdown/471395
  18. This thread is overdue for the Black Crowes. One of my faves (the song, not the drug):
  19. Always liked the orig. On a side note, and I don't remember the exact details, but when Sinead's video was popular, Roger Neilson (New York Rangers coach) was telling an interviewer something to the effect that he'd been watching the video and wanted to flick the tear off Sinead's face. Anyway, here's a different take on the same song:
  20. Um yeah, got that...assuming that's true (I have no reason to doubt otherwise), that's a better argument. If they hadn't been asking would you still have an issue with the original tweet?
  21. The original seemed as simple as why are reporters bashing the QB handling without asking about the QB handling. Whatevs, doesn't change the mess we're in at QB.
  22. Well now you're attacking the veracity of Wawrow's original claim. Different argument, curious why you didn't start there.
  23. It's a fair point that his second tweet illustrates that he went past the intent of his original tweet that the press should ask questions about the handling of the QB situation if they were gonna bash it. But IMO the original intent was expecting the press to: "you know, just asking what happened to get the team to this point." instead of just bashing.
