Saw that and thought the same thing about Harper. Not just clearing salary, but space in the OF too. I expect that deal to go down soon. Reds get two pro bats. Is Wood for Bailey a wash? I honestly don't know much about either. Harvey will get paid more than Familia next year. Meanwhile Andrew Miller gets $12.5 for two years and either $12 or a $2.5 buyout for the third. Would the Mets have been better off going for that or Familia's $30 over 3? Tough call. I was hoping to still get Miller after Familia signed. Yeah, I know, wishful thinking.

A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. They all look the same in the standings, but the run back to NO is more on point. Over the past three weeks most of the consensus top teams have had a bumpy ride: Saints, Rams, Chiefs, Patriots, Steelers. Chargers are the exception, but I feel like they snuck up on everyone (or maybe just me).

I would never characterize a #1 WR simply by physical attributes like height, weight and speed. Bigger, faster, stronger plays into to a big degree, but after that it's more about the size of the fight in the dog than it is the size of the dog in the fight.

Going into the off season the bullpen consisted of Gsellman, Lugo maybe Zamora and a bunch of BP pitchers. I don't see any way that the addition of Familia and the best closer in 2018 doesn't significantly improve a big weakness. I'm not sold on Zamora yet and would still like to add a lefty reliever. But the other added bonus is we may be able to move Lugo into the rotation where I think he belongs.
