  1. No doubt. I won't be able to see Saints/Rams tomorrow. I can't remember the last time I didn't watch a conference championship game. It might have been Bills/Bengals 1988 when I was on the road due to a death in the family and listened on the radio.
  2. That one is easy. No. I will never root for the BB Patriots. I'll take my lumps if I have to.
  3. The locker room at halftime would look like a Vontae Davis convention.
  4. Echoing KD's good wishes to you TroutDog.
  5. Always good news whether it's Jim Kelly or someone else. Two days ago we learned that the mother of our sons friend underwent a double mastectomy recently. Up next is chemo. Cancer is insidious.
  6. Apps? I like crab cakes.
  7. Nice points. I didn't know that 78 never lead the league in sacks. Juice was incredible and just a fun guy to watch run. Fast, elusive, powerful. A major reason I'm an out of town Bills fan. But in this day and age when it's all about the QB if I can't pick a QB the next best thing is getting after the QB so I'd go with Bruce. Watching him terrorize Brady twice a year would have been sweet.
  8. Wade got his sense of humor from his dad. I've probably posted this before. Costas once asked Bum why he brought his wife on road trips. Bum's response? "Because she's too ugly to kiss goodbye". A few more Bum quotes here: https://247sports.com/Coach/Bum-Phillips-3616/Quotes/
  9. You lost me. Did beating a bad NFL team somehow diminish his win over Clemson with an inferior Pitt team? Are you suggesting that Pitt team was on a par with a bad NFL team?
  10. Has anyone mentioned that Nathan Peterman beat eventual national champion Clemson when he was at Pitt?
  11. In the past it would've been softball in the summer and skiing in the winter, but I didn't play softball the past two summers and I only get out skiing a couple of times each year. These days my favorite is Wiffle Ball in the backyard.
  12. Yeah, but what about the band?
  13. He's like a dandelion jack. You can cut him down and then he'll pop right back. Something tells me this will not end well for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! The team that spells....wtf?
  14. Are you talking about when Clemens beaned Piazza regular season? I didn't think that got much play outside NY. Until Clemens threw Piazza's sawed off bat at him in the WS months later. Regardless, if the charges against Wetteland have merit...repulsive..
  15. Football will be like a rock and tougher to throw. Brady's experience vs. Mahomes big arm? As to OP and the refs, the quote of the thread comes from the Pats fan: "Doesnt matter who the ref is."
  16. This will be one of many Super Bowl halftime shows that I could care less about. I usually see at least a part of it each year, but "What crap" sums it up more often than not for me. And by the way, Happy BD!!
  17. Not being snarky, but how is the term rival currently used in your opinion? To me it comes down to when a non-descript game has more meaning: - all divisional matchups are rivalries. The great divisional rivalries include two teams that slug it out for the division over a few years (i.e - Steelers/Ravens). - conference matchups for two teams that slug it out for the conference over a few years (i.e - Giants or Cowboys vs. 49ers back when we couldn't seal the deal). - regional rivalries. Probably more of a baseball thing but Jets/Giants for one and maybe 49ers/Raiders too.
  18. It makes perfect sense, I just can't think of a guy that used the NFL for leverage with the MLB. Elway did the opposite. Maybe Drew Henson, but not that I remember. And yeah, when I was his age I was opting for the 6 pack of PBR tall boys for $2.69. Good times.
  19. I hear ya. In my mind the jury's out on these two. They get high praise for breaking the drought and the strong defenses. But apart from drafting Allen, the QB situation has been an abomination. I hate picking at scabs, but their reliance on Peterman was mind-numbing and made me question their competence. They are positioned to field a playoff contending team next year. We should expect that and not another 7 win wait-until-next-year season.
  20. I tend more towards yours and Teefs way of thinking, but I disagree with the bolded above. Is there a regime since 2000 that you think would have succeeded had they been given more time? I'm all for continuity but it has to be positive continuity.
  21. So now he's trying to leverage a potential NFL first round draft pick payday against his MLB signing bonus. Can't say I blame him, but I can't think of a past precedent. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/25754391/oakland-athletics-get-ok-mlb-offer-kyler-murray-more-money-stick-baseball https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2815519-kyler-murray-rumors-star-is-seeking-15m-wants-big-time-money-from-as?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial
  22. Love your posts and attitude Teef, but at some point you have to take off the training wheels and set the expectation to success and not just be satisfied with progress (or the perception of progress). I agree that they don't necessarily need to make the playoffs next year but 7 wins would be more then just disappointing to me. My expectation is that at worst I won't be checking in on the ESPN playoff machine until there are 2 maybe 3 games left in the season. I could live with a season that we should have made the playoffs and didn't but if it's another where we could have made the playoffs and didn't it may be time to move on to a new regime.
  23. If the intent was to represent Zeppelin's "force and presence" it missed the mark for me. I'm reminded of a quote from Spinal Tap: I think that the problem may have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf. Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object
  24. Yup, solid but unspectacular. I liked him.
