I have no problem when an artist can put a different spin on a classic and people like it. But "once belonged to Aerosmith." is disrespectful to any original artist who had their music covered.

That's been my MO the past few years. Wifey will be in the "front room" watching something that won't register on the Nielsen ratings. She'll keep up on who's winning the office pools and pop in on me and the boys from time to time. Funny story: the year of the Malcom Butler end zone pick me and my friend had split a box and were in line for around $4000 if the Seahawks scored and hit the PAT. I had seen the payoff as a very real possibility at half time and was a bit bummed at how it turned out. When I checked the other office pools 10 minutes later I saw that wifey had hit for $250. Had to wake her up to inform her. Food will be good on Sunday, but nothing extraordinary. Wings (sorry folks, Thai Chili, not Buffalo), maybe sliders, maybe chili, gotta have some sort of shellfish, there will be chips, there will be dip,...

The day I adopt this mentality is the day I stop caring. On Sunday nights my mood is pretty good when we win and dampened when we lose. Both moods linger into the week until the next game. But neither affects my life in a way that really matters.

I can't get past his voice and his delivery to listen to what he has to say. Romo's over-exuberance grates on me. One of the first times I heard him was a Broncos game. 4th and goal "AND HERE COMES MILLER!!". Besides that he's a great listen, especially when he was calling out Brady's next plays.

To each their own, but I usually find out about the Super Bowl commercials the day after. Commercials are when I replenish food and drink and recycle same.

What I suggested was the type of circumstance that could cause the commissioner to invoke the rule that allows him to overturn the result of a game - not the likelihood of the circumstance. I agree that the likelihood of a payoff being uncovered would be exceedingly low. As would any scenario that could be used by the commissioner to overturn the result of a game. But IMO the rule is there for just that reason - for a remarkably unlikely and unfair scenario that determined the outcome of a game. Refs blowing a call doesn't fit the bill.

It's beyond me why anyone would think Josh having a conversation with Jim would be a bad thing. It's not like Jim is lobbying for a coaching position.

Unless I missed the boat (always possible) NoSaint was questioning under what circumstances the commissioner could enforce a replay of the game from the point of the blown call. I was just suggesting that if a payoff was somehow uncovered it might qualify for a replay of the game under the obscure rule.

WRT to the blown call in question, If a paper/electronic trail of the refs being paid off cropped up the next day, I think that would qualify. But I think it's more of a catch-all rule to cover something completely unforeseen/unpredictable. Fans interfering with the game and influencing the outcome (poisoning the Gatorade at half time?). I definitely don't think it was intended for a blown call by the refs.

That's a really sensible idea. I don't think the masses - who have no tolerance for human error by the refs - would go for it.

Posting this here because it doesn't deserve it's own thread but the Mariners signed future HOFer Ichiro to a minor league deal. The Mariners open the season in Japan with a two game exhibition series against the Yomiuri Giants followed by a two game season opening series against the A's and Ichiro will be added to the expanded roster. Cool move.

Mussina's in and Schilling isn't? That's a joke to me. And I'm not saying Schilling should be in, it's debatable, which to me usually equates to no.. But I'd have Schilling ahead of Mussina. As a die hard Mets fan who pretty much hates anything and everything about the Yankees I'm glad to see Mariano went in unanimously. Anything less would have been based on a voters sheer stupidity or ignorance or arrogance.

I agree with your premise but not your solution. I'd love to see the length of a review be capped and strictly adhered to. If you can't tell it's a blown call in a short period of time live with it and move on. One of the plays that I remember that started this mess was when Vinny Testaverde's head reached maybe the 1 1/2 yard line, the ball maybe the two and they called it a TD. Anyone who saw the replay knew instantly they blew it. Same thing with the Saints game. Get the obvious blown calls right and move on from the rest.

Instant relay started with the same premise - to only overturn the blatant missed calls. But once Pandora's Box was opened there was no turning back and now we're left with a system that is dealing in minutia with super slo mo and pretty impressive quality when they zoom in. The fact that ex-refs have become a fixture in the broadcast booth is a sad indication of where we are at with instant replay. I don't think there's any doubt that they'll introduce some sort of limited review of penalties next year, but once they get a toe in the door it won't be long until the door gets kicked in. Wish I had an answer as to how to fix the system. The need for instant replay to correct the blatant bad call is obvious.

Atlanta? From what I've heard even snow lovers wouldn't want to be in Atlanta when it snows there. For the record, I love snow too. We get a few storms each year on Long Island and it grinds my gears when anyone ***** about it. For Gods sake, move to Atlanta if you don't like snow!!! ?
