TBD sepsis?

Forget all that, if I'm you I am seriously questioning why Buffalo716 didn't thank the gals too! He (he is a he, right?) should have to answer to that.

How can you possibly have a SECOND team that you root for?
SinceThe70s replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Making the playoffs was enjoyable. Subsequently moving on from the playoff QB with the realization that the position needed a big improvement in spite of the playoff appearance was enjoyable. As a result, this past season was a necessary evil. That evil was made worse by the Peterman debacle. What that debacle says about the coach and GM is a legit concern IMO. But I'll reserve judgement until next year. Once they drafted Allen, it was never about Peterman. As a side note, in another post you reference Hue Jackson's 8-8 Raiders with the immortal Darren McFadden, Darius Heyward-Bey, Jacoby Ford and Fabian Washington as a fun team to watch. Is that your standard for enjoyable? Would you be happy if we canned McDermott and hired Hue? -

That's gold Johnny, GOLD!! I'm an out of towner too. My kids gravitated to the Bills because of me, if they'd gone another direction I would have let it happen. We just had John Tavares make his return to Long Island the other night and there was a lot of vitriol thrown his way. Some of it was humorous but overall it was a classless display by the local fans. The guy played 9 years for us, was a great player and an upstanding citizen who had the opportunity to play the second half of his career for the team he grew up with. Sucks that he left, but he's the type of player any sports fan should appreciate. That was the message to my boys. -

Short answer is because I never set foot in Buffalo until about 28 years after I decided the Bills were my FIRST team. -

The San Pedro Beach Bums Football, you bet! -
If I got this right Harper gets the same deal as Machado, 10 years, $300 million. The extra 3 years at $10 million per is Scott Boras doing Scott Boras. I'm not with you on the Chris Davis comparison - but I hope I'm wrong. I think Harper will put up huge numbers at that ballpark. The guy had a broken bat HR at Citi Field last year. Question is how long he can sustain it.

It pains me to share this, but if the reports are true that Bryce Harper is signing a 13 year deal, when the Harper deal is up the Mets will still be on the hook for the annual Bobby Bonilla payout for four more years. https://nypost.com/2019/02/28/bryce-harpers-contract-wont-outlast-mets-bobby-bonilla-payments/

Moving to Salt Lake City in May

You are living my dream. I get the CliffsNotes version of life out West, you get the whole book. My youngest was in 4th grade when we went to Zion so we were able to hike the Narrows, but Angel's Landing wasn't an option for us. -
First time I ever saw Alonso swing a bat was today when he flicked his wrists and sent one over the right fielders head. Before he hit that pitch I liked his stance and swing. So based on one at bat and his minor league stats I'm optimistic. WRT the GM part I: He needs to get DeGrom signed. Do it now before there's another year of tread off the tire. A 4 or 5 year deal now is much better than the same next year. WRT the GM part II: He has all the attributes needed to be a great game show host.

Good point. Southern Utah has some of the countries greatest National Parks. Me and the fam did Bryce and Zion a few years ago. Could have spent more time than we did at each. There are still a bunch of other well known parks in Utah and neighboring states that are still on the to-do list. Great part of the country ColdFront, make the most of it! -

If you're looking to get back into skiing and haven't been to Alta/Snowbird make every effort to get there for a powder day. Greatest snow on earth! -
The Bizarre World of Frank Zappa Hologram Tour
SinceThe70s replied to T&C's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Probably not. The Zappa sibling version of Family Feud leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I saw Dweezil's Zappa Plays Zappa show a few times and it was great. The cease and desist order preventing him from touring as Zappa Plays Zappa didn't sit well with me. On the flip side, the hologram tour includes Ray White who played with Frank and ZPZ as well as Joe Travers who was phenomenal with ZPZ. I was surprised to see both on the hologram tour. The other wild card is which night(s) Steve Vai will play. He grew up fairly close to the show I'd go to. If I knew he was playing that night I'd have my ticket already. Taking a wait and see approach which more than likely means I won't go. -
This article about DeGrom and a new contract may be behind a fee wall. Basically DeGrom's new agent is making the spring training rounds and the article is speculating on the opening day deadline to extend DeGrom. DeGrom is under control through next year so the deadline is inconsequential to me (a year from now will be a different story). https://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/jacob-degrom-contract-talks-mets-1.27597420 That connects to a theme Van Wagenen touched on during his first day as Mets GM: Rewarding good players for being good has benefits aside from money. Of all the Mets, deGrom — a home-grown, award-winning star and fan favorite — is a strong choice to turn that into more than just talk. “Provide our players with the support and resources they need to succeed,” Van Wagenen said in October. “When they do, recognize their performances and reward their performances. “This mindset creates a positive culture and positive work environment. As is true in all organizations, good culture yields the best results and increases the probability for success.”

? Snark aside, RIP Peter. Just now went to the top of the thread. Auntie Grizelda?!?!? Outstanding. My older sister had a few of the albums, we both watched the show and I had the Monkees Corgi car. Might still be at Mom's house for all I know. Fond memories.

Or the other 4 could do a hologram tour.

There's a joke to be made here about Dick Stands, but I'm shooting blanks on this one. -
Yup, sounds like someone trying to create a story. Have to admit that it has more plausibility and/or human interest than a lot of other discussions being floated lately. If I was at a bar with my friends we might talk about this for a few minutes, nothing more. We'd probably spend more time debating whether the next pitcher should be Yuengling or Toasted Lager. The genius among us would have the Jaeger shots in front of us toasting Ciara's finer qualities before we could decide on the beer.

Best one year wonder?

If you're going the baseball route Mark "The Bird" Fidyrich is worth mentioning. For football, Robert Edwards should at least get mentioned.
