  1. Well the girls would turn the color Of the avocado when he would drive Down their street in his El Dorado He could walk down your street And girls could not resist his stare Pablo Picasso never got called an @sshole
  2. Let us have peace, let us have life Let us escape the cruel night Let us have time, let the sun shine Let us beware the deadly sign The day is coming Armageddon's near Inferno coming Can we survive the blitzkrieg
  3. Just saw that Vargas was pulled with an injury today. Didn't see the game and assumed he got pulled due to the two times through the lineup mentality. And Matz is headed to NY to check on a nerve issue he's been dealing with. Uh oh https://nypost.com/2019/05/05/steven-matz-sent-home-as-mets-injury-alarms-keep-going-off/
  4. I would love to see the Mets be bold enough and release Frazier outright. Between McNeil, J.D. Davis and Lowrie's return he just isn't needed - even for depth. And assuming he has options, Nimmo should spend some time at AAA and get himself right.
  5. Creative modern broadcasting. Somewhere around the 14th inning, the Mets broadcast zoomed in on a white bucket in the Brewers bullpen labeled 'JJ's Secret Stash'. The back story was that it contained grape bubble gum for Jeremy Jeffress. Mets announcers challenged their stadium reporter Steve Gelbs to bring them some gum from the secret stash. A few innings later they show footage of a Brewers catcher collecting grape gum (but not from JJ's secret stash) into cups that he tosses up to Gelbs. Gelbs delivers the gum to the booth and they have a laugh that it didn't come from JJ's bucket..
  6. When your day is long And the night The night is yours alone When you're sure you've had enough Of this life Well hang on Don't let yourself go 'Cause everybody cries And everybody hurts sometimes
  7. I have no clue how horse racing works. Was the review initiated by Mott's team or is it something that happens automatically for every race?
  8. Hopefully a flaming table slam.
  9. Probably won't make a difference but top 14 I would've sent Vargas, Thor or DeGrom (in that order) to the plate instead of Nido as a PH.
  10. Kraft continues to draw attention to his indiscretion through his legal maneuvers. This could have gone away much quicker. He has every right to defend himself but he may be doing more damage to his rep by keeping it in the headlines instead of taking his lumps and moving on.
  11. That's an age old argument - should the rules apply less when the stakes are larger - bigger game or closer to the end of a game. I never fully bought into that line of reasoning. For the record, I'm not taking sides - I don't have a horse in this race - and I'm in no way qualified to offer an objective or subjective opinion. But the fact that this overturn was unprecedented suggests to me that it 'didn't influence the outcome' may be debatable.
  12. Totally agree with the bane comment. But I heard one of the owners say that if it was a regular race and not the Kentucky Derby the disqualification would have been routine. KD called it early. I watch about 6 minutes of horse racing per year so I have no clue whether the reversal was legit, but what gives the call legs to me is how long it took to reverse it (they didn't want to) and the fact that it was the first in history (not an easy call to make).
  13. I said the same exact thing to the fam'. I wonder if Maximum Security will run the next two. Not sure the hows and whys, but I know that horses sometimes drop out when the Triple Crown is out of reach.
  14. The other day I flipped over to Barney Miller and my 13 year old looked up from his video game long enough to tell me the theme song was really cool, so for TV I'l go with that. The Bond theme song is perfection. And for hybrid TV/Movie I'll go with J@ckass....only because I just recently came across the original recording and had to google to figure out where I'd heard it before.
  15. I never tried heating taco shells in the microwave. How well does that work? I did make the mistake of putting them in the toaster oven once. The warning on the box that I overlooked was correct - they caught fire.
  16. In honor of Cinco de Mayo: Whenever we'd heat up taco shells the one at the front of the line would fold down from the heat so you couldn't get stuff enough taco fixings in it and/or it would break when you tried to add too much. Now we put a balled up wad of aluminum foil in the lead taco so it holds it's shape.
  17. So someone who is a fan of college basketball but not the NBA could potentially not be a fan of basketball. That makes no sense to me.
  18. Are you limiting your comments to the NHL? Do you watch European hockey leagues? The comments you and others have made seem short-sighted and self-serving to me. I am not a fan of basketball. There are people (in the USA and perhaps elsewhere, who cares?) that like NCAA (college) basketball. There are people (in the USA and perhaps elsewhere, who cares?) that like NBA (professional) basketball. There are people (in Europe and perhaps elsewhere, who cares?) that like European basketball leagues (I'm vaguely aware that these exist). In your opinion, what would qualify to be a basketball 'fan'?
  19. This distinction between being a fan of hockey and a fan of a hockey team that you and others have made is either short-sighted or self-serving. I don't understand how I could be a fan of a hockey team but not a fan of the sport to begin with. I also can't think of a team that I'm a fan of that plays a sport I don't consider myself a fan of. Someone else made the point that if you weren't interested in the NHL playoffs beyond your own team then you weren't a 'hockey' fan. Would that apply outside of North America? Is it within the realm of possibility that there are huge fans of hockey outside of N.A. that have never seen or have access to NHL playoff games?
  20. Interesting move by the Mets today. Demoted Dom Smith in favor of Adeiny Hechevaria. As per Mets site (link below) , AH could have become a free agent next Wednesday if the Mets didn't bring him up by then. I can't see him getting much playing time unless somethings going on with Rosario. Anyone heard anything about Lowrie? https://www.mlb.com/mets/news/dominic-smith-optioned-to-triple-a
  21. Nothing against any of the bands you mentioned - and Fall To Pieces is a great addition to the thread - and I know you were comparing grunge bands - but if Rage Against the Machine is allowed to enter the ring, everyone else is coming out on stretchers.
  22. Stay with us bro, we're still over .500 This isn't the time of year where you'll see meaningful trades, every team is feeling things out. Players that are available in trade are problem for problem ( i.e - Harvey for Mesoraco) The fact that Keuchel and Kimbrel haven't hooked up with a team yet is as surprising to me as the fact they never signed before the season. If I had to guess Keuchel is asking for too much money on a one year deal and Kimbrel is asking for too many years. They are both looking to hit pay dirt on a contending team that suffers a big injury and perfectly happy to sit back and wait for that to happen.
  23. I've been down, but not like this before Can't be 'round this kind of show no more All, all that you dream Comes to shine in silver lining And clouds, clouds change the scene Rain starts washing all these cautions Right into your life, make you realize Just what is true, what else can I do Just follow the rule Keep your eyes on the road that's ahead of you I've been down, but not like this before
  24. Kind of like the Marlins in baseball.
